The game concerns 5 main color identities of white, blue, green, black, and red, each having their distinct characteristics. These colors are energy sources called "mana" which planeswalkers or other people in the MTG universe use to cast spells or other gimmicks. Each source is drawn from a particular environment; white is drawn from the plains, blue from islands, green from forests, black from swamps, and red from mountains. Lore wise white mana embodies mortality and order, blue embodies logic and technology, green as interdependence and instincts, black representing parasitism and amorality, and red as principles of chaos and impulse. These basic identities can be mixed and matched to fit your play style! Players assume the role as a planeswalkers in the MTG universe; individuals who are able to manipulate mana and cast powerful spells. Your decks represent an arsenal of spells where you compete, friendly or in competitive, against other "planeswalkers". There are various formats people play in Magic. Some of the more popular formats are standard, modern, legacy, elder dragon highlander, (commander), and vintage. There are many other formats to explore like oathbreaker, canadian highlander, and newer formats like pioneer. Each one has it's own rules so have fun! Well if you have more questions or concerns please ask! This forum is dedicated to bringing together players of various backgrounds and having fun. Any and all suggestions are welcome. @Brokko Hey! I've been playing for about two years now. I'm currently working on a dragon deck, but my favorite one would be the mono green one that I'm constantly tinkering with.

What's your favorite color(s) to play?

@Frostnite

I play almost all colors. White's not something I'm super fond of, but if a deck needs it I'll roll with it.

I tend to lean towards black, blue, and green in no particular order. I've been playing red more frequently due to the release of more gruul cards and grumgully. Goblin shenanigans or a bulky questing beast.

What's in your dragon deck, and what's in your mono green? Modern, standard or some other format do you tend to play?

MTG!!

I used to play a ton, but haven't much recently. I had Arena installed while it was still early days so I could earn some sweet sweet amazon giftcard money, but then uninstalled it. I mostly play Hearthstone for my online card games, but I'd be down to reinstall Arena!

I have physical decks of all colors, but my favorites are Big Creatures (mostly rare or mythic gigantic creatures with a bit of healing and mana ramping, mono-green), Vampires (mono-black), and my Red Deck (mono-red, mostly instants and sorceries that deal damage, but a few strategic creatures as well).

Ayyyyy mtg! I've been playing since right around Core 11 came out, which is like eight years now haha what?

I pretty much exclusively play commander nowadays cause keeping up with standard is expensive, but I've got some pretty cool decks and some pretty not-cool decks:

Red/Green Atarka, World Render ramp'n'stamp with a distinct derg flavour to it.

Blue/White Ojutai, Soul of Winter lockdown with some fliers and leviathans for finishers.

Green/White Arahbo, Roar of the World cat tribal with equipment focus

And then WIP:

Edgar Markov mardu vampire tribal once I get my hands on the original deck to tinker with.

Doran, the Siege Tower abzan for total board chaos, just need Doran and a few more set pieces

Marath, Will of the Wild naya token spam just needs some cuts and tuning.

@Kitanya
I miss hearthstone a heck ton. I stopped because partly because of life, but also I rekindled my likening for magic.

@Dunkarooba

Broooooooo that's a real throwback. I feel with EDH, but dang competitive edh is wild. I know someone with a crazy Gitrog commander deck that's heckin' expensive.

Oh lort he comes with Markov.

This sounds interesting!
Tournaments could be fun, though I do admit I'm not very good. I've been having fun with a Red/Blue spell-heavy deck, though I also like Black/Green's style and up until a bunch of sets went into Modern-Only, I had a mono-red deck that I was working on. (I'll get to updating it eventually. It's just a bit frustrating when you can't use like half of the non-land cards in the deck anymore in the format you're doing)
