General Discussion

What are your unpopular opinions about anime (or manga)? Here’s some of mine:

* Soul Eater anime ending > Soul Eater manga ending. I understand why the anime ending is less popular between the loose plot ends and the shift in tone compared to the first major climax of the show, but it's all worth it just for Crona to get a happy ending.
* Speaking of Soul Eater, it’s full of awesome music but the best song is I Wanna Be (ED1) and it’s not even close for me.
* Most of the Fates series I’ve seen range from average to boring. The only one I genuinely enjoyed was Apocrypha and I wish every Fates arc was its own standalone thing like that. (Disclaimer: there’s a lot of Fates and I haven’t seen every single one, but I have fully watched at least 3-4 of them) Saber and her summoner (is that the word for them?) whose name I can't recall are not interesting protags at all.
* I can’t get into Death Note because I dislike Light as a protagonist too much and don’t want to watch a whole show about him.
* Jojo parts 1 and 2 > part 3 onwards
* Other shows I find overrated: Darling in the Franxx, Seven Deadly Sins
* Shows I find underrated: Blood Lad, World Trigger, Katanagari (disliked the ending of the latter, but it doesn’t ruin the whole show for me)
* That all said, it's okay to find an anime weak/poorly executed and still enjoy it. For me, that show is Angels of Death.

- Hetalia is great
- AoT is overrated
- The Pokémon op song(the iconic one) is actually rlly nice
- Georgi Popovich from YoI is a very interesting character
- hated ending of Tokyo Mew Mew

Can't speak for a lot of these but I loved Soul Eater when I watched it years ago and still have that end song downloaded on my phone! I never got into Death NOte because it was spoiled for me when I was 3 episodes in and heard it dragged on for way too long for no good reason.

I watched FMA:B before FMA so was never able to get into the wacky jokes it had (too OOC after finishing the heavy FMA:B plot, also Envy is probably the sexiest androgynous character I've ever known). I fell out of Hetalia but would still be my number 1 recommendation for a lighthearted or joke-seeking anime watcher. Never got around to finishing AoT, tbh.

- the last 2 minutes of Kill la Kill (subbed) ruins a lot of the romantic and sexual setup that seemed to occur just for an extra lesbian fanservice. (I seriously need someone to complain to about this in detail, PM if you like)

@FangirlGoddess Agreed on Attack on Titan. My friend keeps trying to get me to watch it but I kinda feel like it's not really anything that's never been done before? Also the OG Pokemon song is iconic and just plain fun.

@JustALotCrazy Honestly one of the best anime songs ever made. Some people dislike the vocals but as a huge fan of punk music and bands like Rancid and Face to Face, it's perfect to me. Also I had the major plot points of Death Note spoiled for me as well which combined with my poor first impression of the show and MC, has placed it safely on my "never gonna watch this" list. After a certain point (you probably know which one), a lot of people still firmly believe the show should have ended there and that says a lot.

It's been a long while since I've seen Kill la Kill so my memory is pretty rusty on it. I can't even remember how it ended tbh. I dislike excessive fanservice in general though, especially when it takes the focus away from other, actually important development.

I really hate how everyone in Naruto ended up in heterosexual relationships. Besides Shino. Shino is a single god and he is better than everyone, the unsung hero of the entire series. That’s right, I said it.

Ok so, we all know Tokyo Ghoul was an absolute disaster of an anime, confusing second seasons that went completely off track from the anime and they had no idea what to do when :re came along, for those people who dont read the manga, I’m sure it was a confusing mess, youre being introduced to a thousand new characters and it was so incredibly rushed it wasnt enjoyable in the slightest. Like one character, boom theyre dead. Another character, bam theyre dead too. It was very rushed. The anime was a complete and utter disaster. I actually do like Tokyo Ghoul a lot and I wish it hadnt ended because it was so rushed. Needed more small details in the anime. There were so many important tiny details that the anime didnt even acknowledge and that makes me so mad. They just abandoned Rize and thats not okay. She’s pretty vital to the story, you know. Not sure if thats an unpopular opinion. I dont really talk about anime with anyone ever.

@GlaxusPlaxus: The best thing about DiU is the villain. Kira is the second best in the series after Pucci, andGreat Days is one of my favorite OPs, and some of the side characters are neat, but everything else makes it my least favorite Part. Josuke is the third blandest protagonist after Jonathan and Jotaro (older Jotaro is fine, but p3 Jotaro is my least favorite JoJo). Yukako/Koichi bad. I will never forgive Araki for forgetting about Shizuka.

Another unpopular JoJo opinion: Dio is a very generic villain behind all his charisma. He was more interesting in Part 1, but still hardly original.

oh boy here we go

-it's ok to think the ending of evangelion is weird
-elfen lied isn't as revolutionary as some make it out to be
-as much as i enjoy it and remember it fondly, code geass did not age well
-mononoke is underrated. watch mononoke
-attack on titan isn't good. it just... it just isn't. i don't even think its overrated i just cannot find any reason to like it
-i personally find hetalia inherently not very good but if you like it please just consume content of it with a critical eye that's all i ask
-i don't think my hero academia is deep or particularly spectacular. its ok
-the "she's 1000 years old but looks 10" trope is so inherently awful and you cannot convince me otherwise.
-cg graphics in anime aren't awful. i feel like it just looks bad bc it doesn't fit the look of anime we have in our mind. i didn't watch houseki no kuni but the animation looked really nice and to see people bashing it over the cg made me sad
-this is gonna sound pretentious lol but part of me wishes jojo didn't get so mainstream
-black butler isn't great but i liked book of circus
