Who else LOVES Japanese culture and architecture? I personally do! I like to hear Japanese style lore or see builds on Minecraft!

I do! I absolutely adore everything about the country. Culture, history, architecture etc. Japan is such an aesthetic. While I'm not really big into it anymore I was also a huge weeb at one point

Hey-o! I've been interested in all things Japanese for many years now, and recently I also started a master's degree in East Asian studies with a personal focus on Japan! I'm also planning on doing my thesis in Japan, and I can't wait! I've been in Japan twice, and I absolutely love the culture, especially in the rural areas. Also, good username! I love Eizouken! I have a soft spot for Japanese themed items in games and such ^_^ I don’t know much about the culture, but my clan lore has Japanese ‘house’ names (R?zu, Sakura, Futekig?, etc.), and my Animal Crossing: New Leaf town is (eventually) going to be Japanese-themed as well. My name in games was also Le Shang (which I pronounce Lee Shang because that sounds better) for a while, but it’s slowly becoming Rozu/R?zu depending on if I have the option to use the special ? or not.

It’s more of a mild interest than anything serious, but I’d love to learn more and maybe go to Japan one day. (Heck, I’d learn Japanese if there was a practical reason to.)

I stan Japanese architecture and gardens. There’s just something about them that is aesthetically pleasing. Especially the art. I do watercolor and often take inspiration from the techniques that artists used. It’s amazing what they can do in just one stroke! I have a set of authentic Japanese watercolor brushes and they’re probably my favorite brushes, they can hold a ton of water and are really gentle on the paper.

I adore Japanese culture and aesthetic, unfortunately the one thing I'm not a fan of is the food (which I'm trying to change!). Even before I was a weeb, Japanese aesthetic always was a winner for me and I loved sakura trees and koi fish as a kid. Besides watching anime, I'm taking Japanese in school for fun. I know there's really no benefit to learning it unless I go live in Japan but.... i dont care lol. I'm planning on visiting Tokyo next summer with my school, and I'm super anxious but excited!

I also researched yokai for a large project in another class, they're super interesting! Japan is grossly underrepresented in my world history curriculum compared to China, but my teacher actually managed to change that because he's been to Japan and made his own lesson!

I'm actually planning on moving to Japan once I'm old enough (50% bc I wanna escape my crappy town and crappy family ;-;), and even learning Japanese! I also happen to be a bird fanatic and adore Chabos, a tiny breed of chicken who are just so goofy looking!

Hmm, would anyone in this thread be interested in making a Discord group chat for all things Japanese? Might be fun to discuss the things together! c:
