*SLAMS MY HANDS ON A TABLE* FIRST OFF, called it with Automata's success we would likely see a remake of the original Nier.

SECOND OFF AHHHHHHH. MY DAUGHTER YONAH IS GONNA GET REMADE FOR THE PS4 & I'M ECSTATIC!

I hope Nier fans are excited too. Even if you haven't played the original, I'd recommend it if you like Automata!

In time, my other hope is Drakengard will be remade as well, since that's all the way on the PS2 & not as easy to find these days!

@BladeDancer It's such a good story & the meanings / inspirations behind it are so deep! I love Taro's worlds, tbh, but seeing them gradually get into the lime light & get the recognition they deserve? Incredible, I hope all the best for him!

@FishingNet It was just announced so I'm sure it's gonna take some time but it'll be out on PS4 & Xbox I believe! Probably PC too but I can't recall all the details!

Just another thing coming out! We'll also be getting Nier REINcarnated for IOS & Android, we are getting spoiled!

Seriously?! That’s amazing! It fills me with happiness to see such a fascinating series making a name for itself in the mainstream gaming community. I read somewhere that it’s only going to be an upgrade, and not a remaster or remake, so I’m wondering how it’s going to turn out. I’ve only played Automata but I love reading about the lore of the other games and how they all fit together.

If it ends up being successful, it would be really interesting to see a remake of the first Drakengard game on newer systems. That game is insane.

@rainchime Yea, Taro went on record saying it is more of a remaster, not a remake! Which I mean, that's chill! Having seen things like Shadow of the Colossus remaster in recent years & Okami's whole HD remasters, I have a lot of good feelings for Nier! Also apparently we're getting new story bits within it too so I'm like! [emoji=gaoler star size=1] Drakengard is such an insane series, I agree! It kind of makes me laugh in a way, since people generally thing Nier Automata is really dark[i] ( which don't get me wrong, it discusses some topics on life that are very difficult & in their own way are dark )[/i], but the Drakengard series I've always seen as a lot darker going into the details. It's almost like Taro's saying the problem with Drakengard's world is that humanity survived adbkasd.

I'm kinda new to the franchise, but thought Nier: Automata was pretty good! I'm interested in the redo you say is coming out, and I kinda didn't know there was a prequel, etc. Though, wouldn't it be a better business model for them to release whatever the new game is on the ps5? They could dual-release on both systems, but I can't help but recall how Nintendo did LoZ: TP and LoZ: BotW with dual releases, especially with BotW to sell switches. I'm curious!

@appledeus Oh yes! Nier was the first game for Taro's split universe ( it actually splits off from the game Drakengard, so this is a different timeline but a shared world in a way ). Not many people played either series & for a long time, Taro's work kind of floated into the realm of unknown until Automata, which really got people's attention!

But with the remaster release, I think Taro is doing it for the PS4 to make it accessible, at least that's what I would think. Not everyone is going to be about to own a PS5 right out the gate, so it'd hurt the remaster if it's not getting sold to a wide audience like Automata did! ( Edit: also like I said above, a lot of his work prior to Automata did not do super well, so sales hurting Nier again probably wouldn't be favorable from a launch standpoint )

A dual release wouldn't be a bad idea though, if anything that allows PS4 users to have it!

If you follow anything of Taro's though, you'll find he's kind of an eccentric man, so maybe the idea of a dual release never crossed his mind or maybe he's just taking Squares advice, who can say! I know he has other projects that are coming out, like Sin 'o Alice that'll hopefully hit the Western audience soon. Guy has a lot of hands ina lot of things going on right now, so Nier's 10th anniversary remaster as well as Nier REINcarnated might be a lot atm!
