So I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a few tabletop games online! Problem is, there’s a lot I don’t enjoy about setup for voice chat, and I’m inexperienced with things like Roll20 (which is super cool, but I’ve only successfully used in-person). I thought doing a play by post format would be an interesting way to implement it instead, and to make sure a whole group wasn’t waiting on people to post, I figured a 1x1 format would be fun to try!
I guess what I’m looking for is a mix of post-based roleplaying and tabletop games!
I thought I’d look here to see if anyone was interested in trying! I’ve had experience playing with one DM and one player in D&D for over a year now, so I feel like I’ve got a good grasp on it, and I’m flexible as far as being either a D/GM or a player. We needn’t have a party size of one, either—we can include DMPCs/Party NPCs, and whoever ends up being the player can have more than one character, if they want :3
What I’m looking for: An easygoing person to play with, who’ll be willing to experiment with this format and adjust as necessary! I’m anticipating something like a minimum daily response from both of us, whether it’s “I open the chest!”, or a paragraph of description about what’s going on. Obviously if once a day doesn’t work or something happens, I am of the opinion that real life comes first! As long as we keep each other updated, I’m cool with most things. I also understand if you end up wanting to back out, whether it’s due to life or the way I play. I get that everyone has their own way of doing things! I’m looking to try this over Discord (again, text only! No need to worry about voice stuff, because I won’t be using it).
I have been doing tabletop(specifically D&D) for over half my lifetime, and I’ve been roleplaying for about the same amount of time. I’ve been writing since before that. I enjoy being silly and informal when writing OOC, but I’ve got plenty of experience writing descriptively, and for characters. When playing tabletop, I prefer focusing on the roleplaying aspects, but I’m no stranger to combat-based campaigns. I do a lot of solo dungeons! Basically, I don’t typically min-max, but I am perfectly capable.
Systems I Enjoy: 5e D&D, Pokemon Tabletop United, and Tails of Equestria. I’m familiar with the concept of the PbtA systems, and I’d be willing to try them out.
I’m willing to take on multiple 1x1s, so let me know if something like this interests you! I’m happy to clarify anything.
