TOPIC | Book recs?

Hi everyone! During all this time off, I have been reading. My library is closed right now, but when it opens again, I need book recs for the summer!

I love fantasy. Sci-fi-fantasy is also fun.

I haven't read many historical fantasy books, but the few I've read I enjoyed - if you know any like this, I'd be curious to hear about them! ^^

So, yeah! Please give me some fantasy recs. My summer might be ruined, but I can always read. c:

I really enjoyed reading the Kingkiller Chronicles (trilogy, but sadly not finished yet), and the Bartimaeus Sequence! They have to be my favourite fantasy books :)

If you have favourite authors and are looking for similar authors/books, try out this website: Literature Map
It really helped me find new authors to look up!

Stand Still. Stay Silent.
@casscain - Ooh, I've heard of those but haven't gotten around to reading them yet! I think that I'll read those soon. c:
As for the Bartimaeus sequence, they sound super fun! It would be fun to read them while camping, maybe. My dad and I always go and have lots of time to read. ^^

Oh, that's so cool! I'll check it out and see what I can find. Thank you so much!

Try "Book of M" by Peng Shepherd. It's a post-apocalyptic setting with elements of both sci-fi and fantasy. The fantasy is difficult to see at first but it'll be really apparent by the end. It follows multiple characters throughout the book! I finished it a month or so ago and it's genuinely one of my favorite books. I'll let you read the premise yourself, but it's pretty unique, not like zombies or anything. Something I've genuinely never read about before.

I can’t recommend this book enough. Scythe by Neal Shusterman. I really liked it, but I know there are some who didn’t. Anyway, it’s a three book series. :)

idk if this is what you're looking for but I personally really like warrior cats, it's a pretty well known series so you might have heard of it.

@moonwatcher59 - I've read it! I have the whole series. It's. So. Good. I'm glad to see a fellow Scythe enthusiast on here! ^^

@Boston - I've read so many of them! I'm probably due to re-read them again; they're so good. Even though many common themes are repeated in them, I enjoyed every book I read. They bring me happy memories from childhood, too. c:

I always recommend Tamora Pierce to fantasy lovers. She's done a lot of series with strong female protagonists.

All of them tie together so any of them are good jumping off points. My personal recommendations are starting with the Beka Cooper series, the Lioness quartet, or the Protector of the Small quartet.

Leviathan by Scott Westerfield (I think that's his name) is an alternate history series set around World War I, where the Germans have giant mechs and the British have genetically engineered monsters. It's a fun series and not a hard read, since it's aimed at a younger audience.

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede is a quartet about a princess who volunteers to work for a dragon and the adventures that ensue. Very fun, good characters.

You've probably read it, but I'm still gonna say His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik. Napoleonic wars with dragons.

Mercedes Lackey's 500 Kingdoms series are subversive takes on traditional fairy tales. Start with The Fairy Godmother, it sets up the world very well, and the main character does appear in other books in the series. There is adult content if that is a turn off.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.
