TOPIC | any dA alternatives?
1 2 3 4
With eclipse forced on everyone now, I was just wondering if there was a dA alternative that everyone was turning to? My usage of dA has dwindled over the past year and this really kicked the bucket for me, so I want to backup my deviations and move somewhere else, I just don't know where to go :(

I have a toyhou.se and tumblr, but other than that I'm just kind of at a loss. Any ideas?

@cosmicpoppies

I really don't like Eclipse so I also might start branching out to other sites. The only one I know of right now is FurAffinity

Yeesh, I forgot eclipse existed until now. Unfortunate.

With all of this I'm thinking of moving my stuff to instagram or possibly even art station. Instagram is more casual whilst art station is more professional. I've also been posting my art here too.

You can try:

- Weasyl

- Wysp

- Furaffinity (be warned, FA has no standards and is full of creepy NSFW content, if you don't want to deal with stuff like that, avoid this site)

But don't expect to build up a good following or get feedback on your work on any of these sites, they're pretty much dead in terms of user interaction to the point they're not worth using.

It's not open yet but there is Artrise. I'm going to be joining as soon as it's done.

Don’t go to FA or Tumblr for reasons. Honestly?? Insta is prolly the only option, and if you wanna publish comics, go with Webtoon.

Pillowfort might be a good alternative for you. You can curate your feed and control who sees what you post (everyone/followers/mutals) and block tags and even post-body words. You can join/create communities related to your interests/hobbies (there's also fandom communities too).
You can join with an invite key or donating 5 dollars. But I got some free invite keys so if you wanna try it out, I can send you one via PM.
Though keep in mind, if you're interested and decide to join, it's still pretty quiet there as it's still in beta. But the pf staff listen to their users. They always try to keep us updated on new things/features/bug fixes to come. One of the big things coming up is a UI revamp that everyone's excited about that they're currently working on and taking in feedback on that too.

Anyway, here's a 101 guide to help you get to know what all pillowfort is about.

@Stormchi yeah I've joined the Artrise discord! It looks like they got a HUGE wave of folks leaving dA for the discord today haha

@Sinnabelle oh! I've heard of pillowfort off and on over the past couple months, mostly as a tumblr alternative. I'll take a look at the guide!

I had an art insta (well, it still floats there but I haven't been active) but then I had the feeling that nope, I don't want to line Zuckerberg's pockets anymore (a bit hypocritical since I still use whatsapp but oh well). I also don't like how much it's about being viral and aggressively making yourself visible but I guess it's a lot like that for any social media that gets big enough.

Personally, I would like something for semi-serious hobbyists or something like that, with a practical, not blog-like user page and no unclear algorhitms deciding what I get to see.

And somewhat out of topic but when I was young teen, I used to have my own webpage for my drawings, coded in simple html. We traded links with other similar pages and commented on guestbooks. It was really fun, honestly.

Ooh, I'm green from unicellular algae-- oh wait, is it actually of envy?

honestly. for the fandom i'm in it was really big on deviantart but i'm not sure how it is anywhere else. i don't want to do twitter again (plus i like writing small stories and info about my art... which was why DA was perfect for that format). it really sucks but i hope things change (they probably wont).
