TOPIC | So. Nintendo Switches.
It’s pretty much common knowledge right now that Nintendo Switches are rare commodities. Everyone wants one due to being stuck at home, so they’re always out of stock wherever you check.
My mom wanted one for mother’s day, because she really wants to play animal crossing. Her desire for a switch is reaching all time highs, and with everything else going on in her life and all the stress the current situation has put on her, I’ve really been trying to find her one that isn’t 500 dollars and on ebay, mainly because she refuses to buy one for that much (I wouldn’t mind).
Basically, my question is how can I best go about trying to get one? Any tips on figuring out when they go in stock and where?

The reason why switches are so rare in these times is because people are buying them in bulk and selling it back to people at higher prices (kiiinda similar to those guys who bought out all the hand sanitizer to sell it back)

(https://youtu.be/GiR_u28KFSU) This video mentions the use of a bot that tells you when stocks go up, which is used by the kinds of people who buy out stock. IIRC the vid says its free, but you might have tough luck trying to out buy other people who have the same idea.

Are you able to settle for a switch lite (that is, if they arent out of stock too)?

2PD5mX1.png I've never hoarded items before but I've made it my goal to see just how much salt I can accumulate. Send me those sweet salt stacks, you wont regret it. (4968 piles of salt)

@TheFeatherMage

The devices aren't region-locked. So maybe you'll have a better chance ordering one from a different nearby country. Provided of course if delivery costs are alright with you.

@TheFeatherMage My friend was able to order one from Gamestop yesterday, and Amazon had some today, but they went quickly. She used a site called Stock Informer and just kept the tab open. You can set it to give you an audible alert, and you can sign up for emails. That's the best way I know of right now! It did take her a couple weeks of watching and waiting.

Thank you all for the tips!! It looks like patience is the biggest virtue here. One can only wait.

@Blackthorns
Good luck to you too! I hope once you get one you enjoy it.

At work, the last time I saw a regular switch was when the animal crossing limited editions came out. Since then, only seen switch lites.

Good luck, mate!

I got lucky that I already had my Switch, and tbh while I understand why they're bought in bulk now, it still makes me disappointed, especially with the reselling.

I hope you'll be able to get one soon!

If your mom doesn't mind handhelds, the switch lite is apparently usually in stock? the only difference is that it can't be played on the TV, but you can play all of the same games with it! and it's a bit cheaper too.
