Hey there!!! Are there any fellow equestrians who also play FR? If so, I have a couple questions.

What discipline do you do? Do you own a horse? Do you show? :) thanks!!

I just make sure I've got a camera between me and the horse - since the front, back and middle of a horse are all rather equally random and dangerous to the inexperienced. So I just take photos of them jumping over things Wouldn't mind doing dressage, but that is seriously demanding and technical for photography since there's only a few milliseconds in the stride that look good and the rest looks utterly daft. Of course with lockdowns and all I can't get out and there aren't any events going on anyway. Looking forward to when all this is over.

Hiya! I ride, although I only take lessons. I have been for almost 4 years. I ride western and I really love to do barrel racing too, although my trainer has me doing all sorts of things. I don't show because it's expensive, I'm in college now, and I just never made the time or money to do it.

The two horses I usually ride right now is a Morgan mare named Amarillo and a Quarter Horse named Sky. :)

What discipline do you do, and do you own a horse??

@Ravenpool - its a pretty huge umbrella term and I'm still pretty new, but it encompasses a lot of traditional riding - theres a lot of variation though like, I'd consider mounted fencing, mounted archery, and jousting to be part of it, but then you also have certain branches of dressage and can even include bull fighting if its done on horseback.

I'm mostly interest in it for historical purposes, as animals and history are like, my two great passions in life. I'm not confident enough to practice any of the schools with my horse (whos an elderly paint horse with vision issues in one eye), because they're pretty elaborate to train for, both horse and rider. If I where to though, the first three are more my thing- I love a lot of fantasy media and the idea of getting to live out my dream as a mounted fantasy character charging into battle on a trusty steed sounds lovely XD

so instead I just want to buy the gear because it looks pretty and its functional enough for my usual riding of just like, short trails and very basic riding (between me not being the best rider, and my horse being older and not up for a lot- so most of our riding is again, short trails, or like basic exercises in the arena of like, walk to trot transitions, tight circles, stopping, backing, etc etc).

How cool! I love older horses -- they can teach you so much. The lesson horses I ride are pretty much all in their 20s, but that sure doesn't stop them!

What color is Apollo?

me and my datemate, @MaidenOfGhosts , take riding lessons out at a barn near us; thanks to COVID, we haven't been able to ride for the past two or so months, but lessons miiiiight??? pick up again on monday. which means i'll have a hell of a time walking for three days after, unless they ease us back into it all lmao

i've ridden western, mostly! but the barn does english too, so we tend to swap every once in awhile just to make things more interesting.

this moron is the one i've ridden exclusively, cus he's a Brat and likes to bully you if you let him, which i don't. his name is Wonder! and he's about as smart as a bag of wonder bread, too

I do have a horse, but he's more my dad's horse than my own so I ride other horses on the ranch we board at. I ride both English and Western, and I rarely do competitions these days because they've become kind of prissy and almost elitist in my area. I enjoy trail riding, casual barrel racing competitions, and arena work most of all. I've tried dressage and jumping. Both are quite fun. I've been riding for ten years or so.
