O great America, the Flag held high.
O great America, filled with much pride.
O great America, land of the free.
O great America that isnt so great.
O America your eyes are a foggy blue haze
O America is this just a phase?
Those blue eyes only see things,
That are different from thee.
O America what is so bad about the skin people bare?
People say this is the place to be
The escape from their realities
They flee from home to a place unknown
So they can be free
The free they seek is not near
Instead they’ll recieve much fear
The flag held high in vain
O great America why are you this way?
Tears run down cheeks
From the people that are claimed to not be meek
The violence has no end
O America please let it end
The screams ring out on the streets
Under their feets,
The fallen will weep.
I will never understand, yet I can stand.
Alongside those who are treated different from me.
As a child I saw no difference in the friends I made,
For it is the heart that matters
Not the skin.
O America why cant you see?
That this is not the way to be.
We should celebrate our differences
Not tear each other down.
Stop America you’re making me frown.
Children are pulled away from their parents, and you sit by and watch.
“Why must daddy go?”
America why can’t you see these people are not different from thee.
We are all humans, our blood bleeds red.
We are all the same.
O great America be accepting like we.
For I love everyone I see because they are beautiful just like me.
