what is up fellow nerds

i find myself watching & rewatching the same youtube videos while i'm drawing these days and wanting to kind of get out of that rut!! idk

i have tried:
- watching TV (netflix specifically and it has to be like, something i've already seen before so i can tune it out, otherwise i get too interested and just want to watch)
- podcasts (TAZ is the only podcast i've ever really gotten into and that interested dropped off after a really intense four day road trip heh but i'd totally take recs)
- audiobooks (i tried!! i listened to like, three books! but usually about 70% of the way through the book i get impatient with how LONG audiobooks are and want to borrow the ebook and just finish reading it ASAP)
- youtube, which has been the best solution weirdly. i tend to watch/listen to like, video essays (ie jenny nicholson, hbomberguy, etc)

so!! what do you do? listen to music? ignore tv like me? TOTAL SILENCE?? & if you have youtube recs, please send them my way :'0

usually it's music or literally nothing. i've never turned on anything crazier than music

I usually just listen to music, or some static noise (like nature sounds or something) if the music gets too distracting for me (which happens sometimes). Drawing in total silence is probably just as distracting as drawing while watching netflix for me tbh. Unless I'm hyperfocused on drawing cause I wouldn't even process any noises happening around me anyways when I get like that LMAO. ADHD is a weird thing.

But anyways, Spotify recommends new music every week, so if I feel like the songs I'm listening to are getting too repetitive, I'll just listen to some of those.

i watch a lot of tv while i draw, i eat netflix like its candy,, Supernatural is a pit ive been falling in recently lmao

i also listen to a lot of music, normally when i draw horror desgins i listen to horror game soundtracks, movie sound tracks, (the OFF soundtrack is a REALLY fun vibe, and Holes had a surprisingly good soundtrack for a kids movie) or uhh a lot of gorilaz, but

when i draw characters i lean towards more country-cowboy music sorta thing and some 2000's rock punk (colter wall, american murder song, etc, as well as FIDLAR, Cake, Cage The Elephant) as well as more psychedelic music, (your Super Organism, Will Wood And The Tape Worms, Justice, some Daft Punk if im feeling zappy)

Hbomberguy is a good youtuber, and if you like him then i think you should check out UpIsNotJump, he does alot of videogame reviews and has a very fast pace editing style which makes him fun to listen to while doing things!

I love listening to video game OSTs while drawing! Poppy and upbeat tunes really get me in the mood to draw (song recs: Super Monkey Ball 2 - World 3, Sonic Colors - Aquarium Park Act 1)

I also like to listen to Youtube videos. My brain has become really attached to reddit videos as of late, but if it isn't those, I'll watch some of my favorite streamers or youtubers talk about or play games.

I absolutely cannot draw in total silence. My tablet pen makes annoying sounds when I make strokes on the tablet, so I'll do anything to try and block that out

HA i forgot supernatural was on netflix...god how many seasons is it at now?? 16????? i binge watched that back when it was at like, 7 oh my god i'm old aren't i

i forgot about the OFF soundtrack!!! i dug that SO MUCH back in the day. have you listened to anything from sword & sworcery?? or kentucky route zero? those are more .. heck idk electro-folksy but still. OH and the hero core ost slaps

@vojir Usually when I am working on an art project I listen to music (usually songs without lyrics). Some stuff I listen to are, similar to what somebody else said above, video game soundtracks (Mostly the Undertale OST, which is about 2 hours long, and has about 101 nice songs) but recently I have been finding myself watch musicals while drawing.
