TOPIC | Your earliest video game memories!

Maybe you played this game, maybe you watched someone else play it! What are your earliest video game memories?

The two I have are a tie between Ocarina of Time and Starfox 64, I can't remember which one I saw first, but those two were definitely the first video games I ever experienced.

I would boot up OOT on one of my sibling's files and mess around with the ocarina, playing random notes and running around inside the Temple of Time, too scared to leave because of the redeads outside.

With Starfox 64, my mom would play it all the time. I begged her to play it because I loved watching the action. I have almost all the character dialogue drilled into my head. The final boss, Andross, scared me to no end hahaha, seeing that giant floating monkey head man made me cry more than once (and to this day, he continues to give me the creeps).

Edit:

Reading through all of your memories and experiences is really heartwarming, thank you so much for sharing them!

one of my first games, probably the only one i remember playing, was metroid: zero mission. it was on my gameboy advance, with a broken zr button, and i love that game still. the entire metroid series is my favorite, but i think zero mission and prime 2 (wii, gamecube) are my favorites.

First time playing Final Fantasy; I was sleeping over at a good friends house, and we somehow managed to talk her mom into letting us play Final Fantasy VII. (I was seven, she was eight) We stayed up ALL NIGHT playing that game. We got past going to Wutai since we stayed up and stayed awake the next morning. And my mom didn't pick me up until late in the day. I remember it was a witche's moon that night as well, so it was red and creepy. It was my introduction to RPGs, and it's the best thing that ever happened to me. :>

First few was on the DS and Gamecube belonging to the two older kids at the baby sitters house. The most memorable things were watching them play SA2's city escape over and over again and thinking it was the coolest thing in the world (still is), or run around in super mario sunshine. As for the DS, I became obsessed with pkmn pearl because of them (i wanted diamond but didnt want to seem like a copycat, in the end I like pearl more), and also the legend of starfy, which... I still haven't beaten.

I always asked them if I could play SA2 but they usually said no because I was like. six or seven. In retrospect it's understandable.

My first I remember was some DS game ment to improve my handwriting. It would pop up the letter, then trace it. Then I would trace it with the stylus.

I went to a day care that had an old Nintendo 64 and PS1 in the room I was in. Little 5-7 y/o me spent an awful lot of time messing around in Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros 64, and some Spyro game (Enter the Dragonfly?) and watching the older kids play some karaoke game.

My first "real" (non-educational) video game was Pokemon Ruby. I couldn't quite read well enough yet to know what I was supposed to do upon starting it, nor did I know what an RPG was, so I mashed buttons and ended up with a Treecko named something like AAAAAGGG. On a different file, my dad played through it while I watched; that was how I was exposed to anything beyond the second gym.

I used to LOVE playing Pokemon Stadium on my mum's old Nintendo 64! Me and my brother would play together all the time and I would almost always lose but it was fun anyway. I was however really good at the little minigame section. (My faves were always Dig, Dig, Dig because I was very good at button mashing and Clefairy Says because Clefairy was cute and pink.)

I also loved playing Cooking Mama 2 on the Nintendo DS. I would always replay the cake just to decorate it. The macaroons were really fun too.

EDIT: I FORGOT ABOUT WILD WORLD! I loved Wild World, my town was named after a keysmash. My starting three were (I think) Bones, Margie and Gladys.

I played the heck out of Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, and I always picked Murkrow and Espeon every time I played 2! Pokemon Snap is another one I remember playing at a young age (so excited for the new Snap game!) I loved dressing up Mama in Cooking Mama 2, and the icecream recipe (level?) was my favorite! WILD WORLD!! I loved Wild World so much. One of my starters was Wolfgang, and now he's my favorite villager ever. I also named my town after a keyboard smash, and I don't have the heart to delete it, even if my whole town is covered in weeds and all my favorites moved out.
