I noticed there hadn't been a thread for this yet. You have the classics. After Man and its semi-adaptation The Future is Wild. Wayne Barlowe's Expedition/Alien Planet. Or maybe you've encountered newer Internet-based projects like Biblaridion's Alien Biospheres, C.M. Kosemen's Snaiad alien world and book All Tomorrows, or my personal favorite (to the point of namesake), Dylan Bajda's Serina: A Natural History of the World of Birds.

Which ones have you read/seen? I may or may not have fandragon scries for many creatures from these, including a bunch from Serina that I made tonight if anyone wants to see them...

@sunnySerina

'Allo!

For the past ten years or so, I've been working on a speculative evolution project about dragons. Sometimes I meddle around with the taxonomy chart, but, for the most part, I finalized that. My dragons are archosaurs, like crocodilians and dinosaurs/birds. Some have scales, others have feathers and protofeathers. There is no "fur", for it is actually protofeathers. However, they have an unusual amount of diversity, with hexapod dragons being an unprecedented evolution that is still being debated.

Beetle-headed serpents are probably one of my favorite creations in this project.

As for your mentions, I've read and seen After Man and The Future is Wild. I have also watched the mockumentary Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real. I have critiqued it, too. I have also been reading Serina. I hope to someday read The Flight of Dragons. Always taking recommendations, as well.

Just checked out the bird ones! I do find this sort of thing fascinating- my personal world project has a lot of this. It's not written up enough for me to post it here, but the general gist of it is a type of fantasy-world setting where the majority of sentient species have six limbs (four legs, two wings) without being actual dragons.

I have a vague memory of some sort of speculative evolution mockumentary where giant squids evolve to walk on land.
There was also a bit about giant man o' war or jellyfish type creatures....
Every now and again I think of it,
but I can't remember the name and if any of y'all know what the heck I'm talking about please let me know.
