TOPIC | found a mouse in my bathroom today

pretty sure it was sick or something.
it was moving very slowly
slow enough that I was able to catch it with a dishrag
and it barely struggled while I carried it outside
and once released in the grass it just kinda stumbled away instead of scurrying...
glad i found it before my cat did,
i'd rather she not catch whatever it probably had.

anyways
y'all got any weird animal encounters?

I live right next to the fields so we get one or two every year, but my cat is for some reason terrified of them. When we had one early in the year, she ran and hid in her hiding spot (the little area I used to keep books on my nightstand).

Formerly known as Brenning.
Our cats have always been hunters so they always bring small animals in the house. One time we found a praying mantis in our hallway though, I still have no idea how that happened.

Some time ago I had to deal with a dying gopher that was on the sidewalk in front of our house.

Apparently my roommate's cat had been hunting it for weeks and rather than finishing it, just left it to suffer on the sidewalk. Not very thorough, that cat.

I had to call the city and tell them about it, because when it comes to dead and dying animals on public property that is what you do up here. By the time I went outside later that afternoon to get the mail it was gone. So presumably someone from the city picked it up.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.
like three times in a row now I've found a lizard just sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor. Different lizard each time.

the time I caught a kitchen floor lizard myself to take it outside, I had a touching moment with it in the backyard as it just wanted to lay on my hand instead of go free, and even started crawling up my arm.

@LightningPrince

I don't know what it is about lizards and hard flooring, but when I was staying in a place with mostly hardwood or tile floors, I kept on finding lizards just chilling there. They weren't even afraid of me. Granted, it was Hawaii and the door to our room had a space big enough for them to get through underneath it, but still, it was a pleasant surprise to get see!

@Alepha

ahh yeah it is somehow a joy to see them for some reason lol even if they're not supposed to be there. I have to take them outside so the cat doesn't find them

I think that since they're cold blooded and their energy is sorta sensitive to whether they are warm or cold, the cold tile makes them slow down and so they tend to stop there. Or if the floor is warm perhaps they're using it like a sunning rock

Yeah! I found a domestic hamster in my house once. No idea how it got there, none of our neighbours on either side had a hamster but there it was. Beautiful big golden fluffy thing.

I put it in a box with bedding, food and water for safe keeping to take to the vet but it had died the next morning so sadly not a happy story but at least he had a cosy place to rest in his final hours :(

I had a smallish bird in our kitchen one time, which isn't too wild, but it fell down the gap behind one of the cupboards and when I climbed up and opened the door to get it out the poor thing was sitting, looking a little dazed with it's legs straight out infront of it, in our roasting tin.
I carried it outside and let it go rather than popping it in the oven but in the moment it was quite funny.

:( poor little friend.

I have many- my dog cannot hunt mice, but he really wants to, so I always know if theres a mouse because my dog will sit there and look at them crying. I caught two little guys in my old house- SUPER tiny little guys, very very cute.
