Discord servers are great, but population's an issue--when each hub/group has its own server, it's tricky to keep the conversation going! So instead we're joining up to hang out together. In a server that acts as a big blob of hobbies. Y'know.

Right now we have plantcare, pets, art, writing & reading, and several other interest represented, plus a full hub for Dreaming/Lucidity/Nightmares. I'd love more groups to join up, of course. I'd also like to do a giveaway--thanks to said beta testers, I know my spare [item=luminous halo] is actually worth things, for one :P (I'm bad at this game), plus plenty of community events (and thanks to the beta folk, we already have volunteer hosts!). Basically, a whole bunch.
Hope to see you there!

Thank you so much for the interest--I hope to make this easy for y'all! We do have a requirement that any hub thread is at least two weeks old and still seeing regular activity. Beyond that, first, let me be honest!

[*]Less hassle! Server boilerplate's in place, vanity roles and the like are set up, you can get help with moderating.
[*]More attention! A big one, imo. Any person who joins for any other hub is going to see yours, too. Success for one hub is good for them all!
[*]More activity! The other big one. You don't have to worry about keeping the server alive between activity bursts since there's an ongoing community.
[*]And of course, more fun! Cross-hobby collabs become a breeze, movie nights have communal support, and you can stick your fan creations right where folks can see 'em.

[*]No absolute control. Ultimately, someone has to own the server. Sorry about that! Check my post history if you like, I'm very boring and only doing this since someone has to.
[*]Less customization. Since we share the emoji pool with an unknown number of future hubs, we can probably only do one or two hub-specific emojis. Also, we share the icon. Maybe we could use an bot to lessen this?
[*]More collaboration. Could be a pro or con, but for balance's sake, here it is. Core rules have to be agreed to, communal spaces must be kindly shared.

So in short, I'd recommend this to hubs that don't already have Discords, or have servers that are low-pop/inactive. Hubs with robust, active servers won't benefit as much; we could affiliate instead! Anyways, if you join your hub up, you'll be granted mod-like powers within that hub. I'll be looking for community mods, too!

[*]DM me here or on Discord with a link to your thread so I can check activity
[*]Be willing (or have a willing deputy!) to come up with hub rules and channels
[*]When you're all set, let me know so I can post a formal announcement and open your hub role!
[*]Once the hub's added, add a link or banner to this server somewhere on your hub thread
[*]Optionally but recommended, make an announcement in your thread to let folks know.

I think that's it. Hopefully that seems alright! Let me know if there's questions.

Once I get a few mods, I'm hoping to put their pictures here! Right now it'd just be my avi, which seems a bit narcissistic.
In the meantime, my current plan for getting staff: I'd like the server to reach, say, 1 week and 100 people? We were approaching 30 during closed beta, so that shouldn't be too far off. Anyways, I'll open the first mod slot and a special channel for folks to essentially declare that they're interested in being mods. I'll then open the floor for folks to send me (and eventually, all staff) their endorsements of one or more candidates; that'll be kept anonymous, no worries. Basically, stuff like "I think Anne would be a good mod, I've seen how nice she is to newbies!" "I'd love to nominate Bob, he keeps movie nights fun but orderly!" Me and other staff will then choose from the candidates who received an endorsement.
Basically, that's to give the community a voice while also making sure it doesn't turn into a pure popularity contest. I'll do a more formal writeup on this as the time approaches, but before then (and after!), please feel free to raise concerns with the process! Frankly, finding the best mods is very, very in my best interest :P

@JCStitches No worries, no piracy here :D A more accurate description might be "silly youtube meme video share night", though traditionally I've arranged watches of youtube series as well (like If The Emperor Had a Text-To-Speech Device).

@Oranitha Gotcha! Thanks for the quick response and I hope your server hits it off! ^^
