Walked out to go to work and some a**hat broke into my car. Demolished my driver side window and stole my hand-painted change box.
$200 worth of damage for $20 in change.

Has this happened to anyone else? What did you guys have to do?

God I’m sorry to hear that, it effing sucks to have your stuff stolen. This happened to my family before when we were on a road trip. We had a Kindle, a hat, and a few CD’s stolen. I don’t think my parents did anything much but get the window fixed and talk to the hotel staff, but I can sympathize with you on how much it sucks.

Never had it happen to me personally, but boy is that a huge fear of mine.

I know if it does happen, the first thing to do is call the police, file a report, and document all damage, missing items, and evidence, just in case, though I assume you've already done this.

I get some people are desperate, but I just hate knowing some people are just willing to damage your stuff and steal your things.. A lot of my stuff is super important to me, whether it be sentimental or just valuable and needed.. Gosh it would just make me so angry. I really don't carry much in my car other than what I need and emergency stuff, and when I do carry personal belongings, I do my best to hide them so people don't see a reason to break into my car. But I couldn't even imagine how upset I would be if someone stole something that meant a lot to me. Like to them maybe they think it's just whatever, but like, to me it means something, and now they've taken it from me.

Oh gosh, and I couldn't even fathom how angry I would be to see someone had even damaged my car. My car itself is one of my most prized possessions. It's nothing special, but it's my dream car and something I really care about.

Honestly, with being dumb as I am, if I were to be car jacked, I'd be begging and pleading for someone to not steal my car specifically just because of how much it means to me. I worked so hard to get it and I take such good care of it, I really think it would break me to have it stolen.

I'm really sorry to hear someone would do that. I hope maybe they can at least catch the people who did it.

damn, that really sucks. i have this one story from when i was very little, about 5-7.
me, my grandma, and my mom went to the park. everything was normal when we came back to my grandma's car and her purse was stolen. they called the police but i don't think they found the guy. she even had her phone in the purse and everything.

my memory is not the best since it happened at a young age, but i hope they catch the dude.

Never had my car broken into, but now I live in a city where it's more common and I fear it so much. I make sure to leave my console and change drawer open to show I have nothing to steal, and I never leave anything in it.

My best friend had his car broken into a couple years ago, they stole pretty much all of his artist con merch he was gonna sell...thousands of dollars worth. Pins, buttons, prints, ect.

For future reference, try to make your car look as inconspicuous as possible. Don’t leave stuff or bags in your car that someone might want to go through. Maybe even leave a few pieces of trash in your car(not food trash obviously) to make it look “less fancy”.

I’m sorry this happened to you, that’s terrible. I still can’t fathom what goes through a person’s head when they decide to steal from someone. It’s ridiculous, people are terrible. I hope you figure out this situation!
