This is Pathfinder but it's close enough to D&D, right?

I want to make a Ratfolk Gunslinger! And basically everything Ratfolk because Ratfolk are amazing and I love them.

But I also wanna do a Catfolk Witch

i want to play as a locathah (fish-folk) druid with the subclass circle of the stars! the plan is to have my character resemble a whale shark. they remind me of the night sky with their white spots on a base of dark gray/blue! the class abilities are celestial-themed, which ties in nicely. i'm real excited to play such an ~aesthetic~ character lmao.

plus being a fish-folk should make for some interesting interactions in-game!

i mostly dm so most of my character ideas end up as npcs instead lol- that way i get to use my silly ideas, i have more unique npcs, and if i get real attached i can always remake them as a pc! i've done that... i think twice now lol
& your gnoll sounds fun!! speaking of swampy characters, i have a clan of swampy lizardfolk, the one my party latched onto was an extremely cajun chef

for my npc ideas, i've got a few sillier ideas i'd love to find a use for:

an aarakocra fighter, based on the puffleg hummingbird. a very posh and fancy fencer, very small and overly confident.
i'd had an idea for a like, 2-person team competition scenario? like different kinds of challenges, and the players would have to choose 2 characters to compete in each game. never did much with it but i had some fun team ideas lol
gnome artificer & warforged bard. the warforged produces their own music and the gnome acts as like a dj? adds some fun effects n such
halfling barbarian & orc bard. they both dress like the other class and then the halfling like, leaps off the orc's shoulder with an orc-sized greataxe

i alsooo have a really, really dumb idea for a mini-campaign that takes place in a fantasy gay bar but that may be pushing what i can reasonably talk about on here lol

as for characters i want to play personally:
your typical dumb barbarian, except he introduces himself as a wizard. acts like he's casting spells when he punches and shouts "i cast chop" when he swings his axe. then like, 2-3 sessions after i start giving him levels in sorcerer, he just like, actually starts casting spells.

i've only played an artificer in pathfinder, i'd love to try one in d&d. maybe a warforged, obsessed with upgrading themselves?
i've also never played a blood hunter, and i love making ~edgy boys~ who end up very not edgy lol
and i love the new rabbitfolk (harengon?), i have a player who's making one whenever i get to start witchlight carnival so i can experience them vicariously lol, they seem fun

i don't know that i have many dream characters, when i do get to play i usually pick something my party is lacking, or i pull out one of my older/more established characters. i'd really love to play my firbolg warlock again haha

It's physically impossible for me not to play joke characters.

I've had the idea of an alcoholic lich in mind for a looong time but a lich would've been too op for my group and unfortunately I don't play anymore. His body would be remarkably well preserved from the sheer amount of alcohol he drank before and after death and his phylactery would be a bottle in the basement of his home, which is also completely full of bottles.

I'm incapable of making decent characters help me

Two come to mind, one of them is mine and the other is one of my players.
I had a character that I only got to play for 2 sessions, before the group fell apart. Their name was Nim, a kobold artificer. They have chronically bad luck, which caused his clan to soft kick them out. They were basically like 'hey we still love you but it might be better for the clan if you left.....' now they wander the realm selling little trinkets they've made and enchanted, saving every penny they earn to send back their family!

They were really cowardly and a bit of a cheapskate, so much fun to play and I really want to revive them for another campaign.

My roommate made a reborn artificer for my strixhaven campaign. He was Frankenstein's monster, if he was a homeschool student sent to public school for the first time. His mother died, so his dad made him out of his mother's heart. For years he was extremely sheltered, but his dad finally gave in and let him go to normal school. Also extremely cowardly, but in a teacher's pet kind of way.

I really wanna play a more humanoid race one day, like a Half-elf or something. Kolbold assassin sounds nice too

I have a few in my back pocket of varying doneness lol. The first is Lydia Coleman, an aasimar whos a wizard x warlock multiclass- shes actually an npc in a game I dm because I figured thats the only chance I would get to play her. I have a few takes on how I would spec her out, but shes always your classic, sweet, nerdy, book loving, cat loving wizard at the heart of it, but with the twist of slow corruption by darker powers- in the campaign I run, shes discovered an ancient tome of evil- as the campaign is curse of strahd, shes being corrupted by barovia in a very literal sense, via her love of books. (shes homebrew, so thats not at all spoilers for curse of strahd!!). If I where to play her though, I would lean her into either necromancy or hagspawn, depending on dm approval- or just general warlock nonsense for that matter. Regardless, her constant is that she has premature greying + a corruption of good narrative. Here is some art of her + here is a source link.

My other is a joke character 100% but his name is Leeroy Turniptop, an elderly gunslinger / crossbow slinging cowboy who rides a giant badger- he would be a ranger and have said badger as an animal companion, and then would have guns or crossbows on dm discretion and world building. Looks wise hes literally sam elliot but with HUGE sideburns and also a gnome. the second I get to whip him out at a dnd table is the day I will be VERY happy to unleash him on others lmao.
