WHY DO THEY DO THAT

I used to do interviews for a company and interviewed like 5-20 people in a day between the insane amount of other tasks I was responsible for in my position. I contacted people like the day after they applied for the position. I stayed in touch with them every single day (it was salary so I didn't really get days off) and updated them through every step of the process. They didn't have to reach out to me as often as I made sure to reach out to them.

But when it came time that I had to move and look for a new job, I was rocked at the lack of communication I got from employers. I was with that company so long I forgot how much it SUCKED looking for work because most employers keep you in the dark or literally just ghost you.

Infuriating. Sorry for the long rant, I'm passionate about this subject lmao. Best of luck in your job searches and your interviews. Dodge those toxic work environments and bad managers.

How long have it been? Maybe it's because they need some time for their hiring process. I got notified my meeting schedule after a week, as there was some difficulty with scheduling. Let's wait little bit longer!

If they're not responding for a long time... How rude. >:(
But let's look on the bright side! If the company is rude to the person who is willing to work, they must be rude to workers too. They don't deserve good people like you!

THIS is the way. Someone applies to your company? That person spending every day of their working life for years is like the highest compliment to a company that could ever be paid. Companies should repay that with respect instead of ghosting prospects. Were hiring! We are desperate for employees!! We are understaffed! We want you to join our team! We are in a labor shortage!

Okay cool *applies and gets an interview*

Oh wait you actually thought we would hire you? Hahaha your funny, silly goose. Nah were desperate for employees but not that desperate.

*Still has the now hiring sign in their window 3 months later*

One wants me to do another tomorrow with a couple more of their team members, and the other wants to bring me out to their worksite for a day to see how well I get along on their team and see if I'm overall the type of person they want to work with. I'm really hoping I get the first job with the company that wants to do the second interview, however it's nice to know I seem to be in good standing with the other one if they'd like to bring me out and test me in the actual field of work. This way, even if I don't get my preferred position, at least I won't have put all my eggs in one basket. Also, I actually did end up getting an interview a couple weeks back with the company that inspired me to originally make this thread. They said that they would get back to me within a couple days on whether or not I got the position, and as of today I still haven't heard from them :,) So sorry to everyone else dealing with that type of frustration lmao

Literally. Every. Time.

I've been applying for jobs since October, and it's always the same story. Had an interview at a local animal shelter and they promised me I'd hear back within a week; never heard back from them ever, despite sending them a "Thanks again for the interview!" email a few days later to remind them I existed and was still very interested.

The worst by far though was Tractor Supply. They were the first place I applied to, and for 3-4 months I kept going back and asking periodically whether or not they had gotten my application (throughout which time they always had their big "Now hiring!" signs proudly displayed at the front entrance). They always told me that they would be reviewing applications "soon." After a time I finally brought in a physical copy of my resume because I was sure they must have lost my application (even though they claimed online applications "never" get lost, which I find dubious). The lady thanked me for my application and assured me she'd take a look at it and "let me know either way." Still heard nothing.

I started to get suspicious when I was chatting with one of the employees one day and she said she had been hired after they stopped selling chicks for the year (they had only stopped selling them a week or so prior, and I had applied looooong before that).

The next time I stopped in they had out even more and BIGGER "Now Hiring" signs. Literally plastered everywhere. I went in and asked AGAIN about my application (same new employee as before). Her response?

"Oh, we're not hiring right now."
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh????
So she went on about that for a while, and once she was finally done I just said, "Um, okay....But, if you're not hiring, then why do you have so many 'Now hiring' signs out front??"

And she sort of fumbled around a bit and said something like, "Well, I'm not sure, but I know some places keep signs out in case they lose employees." And I just??? I know it wasn't her fault, since she was just a regular, new employee and wasn't involved in the hiring process at all, but I was just....So floored that a company would behave like that?? That they would think doing that to people is okay??? I was so heartbroken over it.

It just feels like companies don't care about potential employees AT ALL, or even see us as human beings. It's like we're just another resource to be mined and discarded when we're no longer useful.

ANYWAY yeah I'm salty, haha (((((((: /end rant

I’ve been applying to different listings of the same job for a month and not a single person has gotten back to me. Like every couple days a recruiter contacts me about what seems to be the same job? And I want the job so I apply, and I kinda thought since I was being contacted I was in with a chance? But I guess not?

I don’t know how it can be that there are simultaneously no jobs and record unemployment levels.
