Hey was just wondering if anyone on here watches The Dragon Prince! I don’t know anyone in real life who does, and I really want to talk about this show because I’ve been waiting on Season 3 for months! They ended Season 2 on a cliffhanger and so I reeeealllllly want Season 3 to come out [emoji=pearlcatcher sad size=1]. Does anyone have any theories on what that cliffhanger meant? I would love to share mine with you! I’d also love to discuss opinions on characters (especially Claudia), ships, and see fanart of your OCs (especially elf OCs)!

I love this show. And it's been soooo long since a new season, when I saw the new teaser drop I almost ended up on my ***.
I'll be fully honest, I completely forgot where season 2 left off and I need to go and refresh my memory.

I'll put this bit under spoilers in case someone runs here and didn't reach this part yet but if they're gonna pull the old, overused trope of kill your gays on Runaan and Ethari I might drop this show. I know it sounds petty to some, but I'm so tired of this that I can't handle it any longer, where shows constantly kill or end relationships between two men.

I really love Soren. He's ... a himbo? At least he resembles one at the start, haha. He really just wanted to make his dad proud but I'm glad he realized that he is enough as he is. Viren treated him like **** and the dude did not deserve it.

As for Claudia... man, does she have an interesting character arc. Thing is, something felt off about her since the start of the show. Viren freely manipulated her daughter and used her loyalty for his means. Although, I do wonder: if Viren never manipulated her would she still be so loyal? Maybe she's just like that, as a person. Loyal to the end to her family and father, and ready to achieve her goals or Viren's by any means necessary even immoral. She's definitely an interesting character to talk about.

As for Viren and Aaravos (whose appearance in the show broke the internet, understandably so. And his bug form is friggin' adorable..)... AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. If necessary, I can elaborate.

@Orionis THERE’S A NEW TEASER?!? OMG I MUST WATCH IT

Also yes, I’m glad that Soren joined Callum, Rayla, and Ezran at the end of season 2. I’m really glad that he realized his self-worth and decided to stop serving his abuser. His redemption arc reminds me of Zuko’s redemption arc, if you’ve seen Avatar the Last Airbender (one of the ATLA writers also wrote The Dragon Prince).

I agree with you that Claudia is serving Viren out of intense loyalty to him because he’s her father, and she will do whatever he says because she respects him above anyone else. Also, remember when she was talking about how when her and Soren’s parents got divorced, she said that she hated having to choose one to live with? There’s no evidence that she’s still in touch with her mom, so the only parent she has is Viren. She wants to stay by his side because she is afraid to lose him like she lost her mom. But while that is her main motivation in my opinion, I don’t think she would give up dark magic, which she would have to do if she joined the other side of the war (because that is her only other option).

It’s a big debate in the fandom about whether or not Claudia deserves a redemption arc. It’s a question of - does she not deserve one because everything she’s done, all the people she’s killed, are things that she cannot take back, and because Soren gave her the option to fight with the heroes and she refused, or does she deserve one because she is inherently a good person who’s allowing herself to be used because she fears losing her father? I agree with the second point. I don’t think she wants to be hurting others, I think she is only doing it because it’s the only way for her to maintain her good relationship with Viren. But sadly, Viren doesn’t love her unconditionally like she loves him. He only loves her because she is useful to him. I want her to realize that she doesn’t deserve such a horrible father and part ways with him. (But my main reason for wanting a Claudia redemption arc is because I want to see her be sweet, adorable, and funny again like she was at the beginning of the show). But with where the show is headed where Claudia is becoming a formidable villainess I think she’s either not getting a redemption arc or she’s getting one in later seasons. Will, in upcoming seasons, Viren push Claudia past her limits, and only then does she decide to cut ties with him? I’m excited to find out!

Sorry if this insults you, but I don’t think Viren x Aaravos is going to happen. They’re just using each other to get what the other wants. I’ve been thinking about this for a while; do you ship the deaf guard (forgot her name) and the Sunfire elf warrior woman? I think they have the cutest chemistry!

In the future ping me; I’m not subbed to this thread.

That cliffhanger at the end of the most recent season left me both excited and scared for what's in store for the characters. X'D

@Zenzic I don’t think it meant anything good…personally, I think it means that Aaravos is getting reborn into a more powerful form (which does not bode well for anyone, particularly the Sunfire elves)

I've been thinking about watching it for a long time... I might watch it later today when I get the chance because it sounds interesting

@BouncyKnight If you love fantasy, I 100% recommend. If you love Avatar the Last Airbender I 110% recommend because one of the ATLA writers wrote The Dragon Prince. But be warned: cliffhanger at the end of the most recent season will give you SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.
