Would I lay the nest on the 24th or the 25th? I apologize for such a silly question, but, despite having been here so long I can never remember if it takes 5 or 6 days. I want to get myself some birthday dragons to hatch! :)

The 25th; it takes 5 days of incubation, including the day the nest is laid, then you hatch on the sixth day.
If you're nervous about making the date or forgetting to incubate, you can always lay the nest earlier and leave it ready to hatch until the right date. It means that nest is occupied, but you're guaranteed to not miss the day, and your dragons will start their breeding cooldown sooner. There's no penalty for leaving eggs alone.
