TOPIC | Back from hiatus, help hatchery planning
Hi! I’ve just come back from a looooong hiatus and now that I’m older and wiser I’d like to start building a proper hatchery.
Does anyone have any tips and tricks on what kind of dragons people are looking for nowadays?

For example: I’ve always liked the crystal and constellation genes so I thought of focusing on those. Is it better to make dragons of the same color in all three genes or do people not care for those? Are some breeds more “in” than others?

I know that some would probably say “just breed whatever you like” but in the end I find satisfaction in selling something and I’d hate to fill my lair with dragons that no one wants.

Any help is useful! Btw I’m cleaning up my lair so if you see something that you want send me a message!!

To find out what people want check out the posts in Find a Dragon. In addition to newbies posting what they want there's also all the people who have figured out Dragon Search/AH Search who can't find what they're looking for because the dragons they want don't exist yet.

The rest is just the random whims of impulse buyers browsing Dragon Sales or the AH. Before you start breeding check out the gene/breed/color range you're looking at to see what your competition is like. Are there already a lot? Are they already going for fodder prices? Is there nothing even close? The last could either denote a complete lack in the available market or a lack of desire on buyer's part.

To be brutally honest there's around 22-24k dragons hatched every day. The odds of any dragon being exalted/unsold is around 80% because there's simply not enough lair space. I've hatched 7,661 dragons. There's just no way I could sell even half of them.

If you're truly looking to have dragons wanted by other people you might consider only taking pre-orders for hatchlings. That way you only breed when people want what you're hatching.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?
