Hey there guys, I'm from the new batch of members just looking to start getting into the forums and the actual social community of this site because I'm criminally bad for being a shut in on sites and miss actually being involved in online communities in general so. How's it going, my screen names Quartz, still a bit lost and confused on some of the mechanics of this site because I'm absolutely hopeless.

I'm an artist and designer doing freelance work at the moment. Pretty into my illustration, indie zines, contemporary surrealism, video game journalism and design, politics, blah blah I'm a bit of a yawn.

Anyway would really be keen on getting involved in the art, character design and rp community on here eventually or just making friends because I honestly know absolutely no one on this site haha so yeah if you want to come chat please feel free to come have a conversation with this massive loser.

what kind of things are you guys into, favourite artist, favourite video game, anime manga? conversation I am terrible at it haha.

Yaaaay October Newbs.

I'm Isra.

You sound like you need an ego boost. I flunked out of art school and I've been trying to write the same novel for like six years, so you're probably less of a loser than I am. *throws confetti*

I have a long-standing and highly dysfunctional love affair with Square Soft/Enix games. I'm a little behind on current anime series, but my favorites in high school were Slayers, Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop... that kind of thing.

Not sure if I'll get into the roleplay. Kind of out of practice. But i'll probably end up writing some short pieces about my draggies eventually.

We should be friends maybe.

@Israfel

haha definitely not you sound exceptionally cool, a heap of my friends dropped out of art schools and they are brilliant artist alot of schools and colleges out there for artists are plagued with pretentious idiots who are in there for the image and not to be artists so thats definitely not a discredit to yourself. And to be working on a project for that many years I think thats amazing to actually still want to complete a specific body of work over that many years takes great determination, takes a lot of faith in your own ideas so I think thats actually really admirable! I can't focus on one thing for more then a week I'm so flakey, highschool drop out and almost didn't complete my cert III in design at TAFE (if you're not australian thats one of our forms of college). But if you want we can have a loser off I'm confident I'll win haha. Seriously though you sound awesome.

Square Soft/Enix's work like their design work is absolutely a huge bowl of yes yes definitely yes haha a lot of people call it over the top but I absolutely adore lots of detail in character designs even if it gets a bit ridiculous I'm just like no like their work in the final fantasy franchises even in the games I hated playing just the character and environment design work is enough to make me just run out and buy all their concept art books. But I get it my relationship with their games is all over the place they really need to get their act together don't even get me started I will honestly start ranting haha.

Cowboy Bebop = ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE up on my top tv shows of all time anime and life action just the whole time I was watching the series I was addicted to it.
I'm the same alot of the new series coming out I cant really get into I'm terribly picky when it comes to my interest in anime. Alot of my favourites are from like 3 - 5 years back.

yeah I'm the same I haven't rp'd since my golden days of being wrapped up neopets and gaia and most of my social circle consisting of people on the internet so my writing is rusty as all heck. But if I could get back into the swing of it I might start enjoying it again. You should just write little characters and profiles for your dragon characters I'd definitely be interested in reading some of your writing if you get into it.

I think we should be friends we both think we're losers so we can be cool loser friends it'll be magical.

@Quartzseven

Ahaha Gaia and Neopets. I did some of that. It's been so long.
I'm more used to highly structured, close-knit roleplays that last forever and encompass a huge overarching plot. The last one I played was this ridiculous and wonderful Kingdom Hearts self-insert game on livejournal that ran for five years... Ruined my life. I haven't been able to roleplay properly since then. But it was the inspiration for that story I'm working on, so hopefully it'll prove fruitful in the end.

There are some itty bitty 3-4 line descs on my draggies at the moment. They're supposed to sound poetic. :p
Also an overly detailed description on the clan profile page. I may have planned this all out a little too thoroughly.

Magical loser friends sounds fantastic.

Is it true that all the wildlife is out to kill you in Australia? 'Cause you know we only have two deadly species of spiders in the US, and that's still enough to make me jump at any sudden twitchy movements that vaguely resemble arachnid legs.

Hey there! I'm also an October noob! Welcome!
I'd love to see your art sometime. I'm similar in the fact that I usually shut out of community websites although I love to RP. I haven't in soooo long because of this. I can't wait to draw gijinka's of my dragons when they get improved more!

@Israfel

I know haha it feels like forever ago that I was addicted to pretty much any virtual pet site or community I could get my hands on. and oekaki's, all about the oekaki's.
that sounds absolutely amazing I actually have never heard of an open rp of that kind of scale thats awesome makes me upset to think something that long running had to come to an end. I guess if it kept you motivated and immersed in writing consistently for so many years and ended up inspiring you to begin your own large scale project though bittersweet is already an amazing thing. I definitely think it will turn out to be fruitful, and when you've completed your story you definitely have to drop me a line because I'd love to hear about it and read it eventually.

really? I'll have to check out your lair then I adore reading about other peoples characters I'm fascinated by them. You'll probably inspire me to start working on characters for my own dragons haha. No such thing is too planned out having organised ideas mean you wont get side tracked and you'll be able to execute it the way you intended.

haha we do have alot of venomous animals. I think we have two of the top three deadliest snakes in the world including the king brown snake that you actually get in the backyards around my neighbourhood, as for deadly spiders I don't know if its just because my households actually pretty spider friendly but most of them just have really bad bites that can get infected or can kill sick people or young children. But to be honest we have so many running around my house you don't even really think about it. Apparently they're very big compared to alot of american spiders though so I don't think you'd enjoy it here if you're arachnophobic in any way haha. Also kangaroos can be pretty dangerous, male platypus have a venom spur on their back leg that causes phantom pain for apparently the rest of your life. Blue ring octopuses, box jelly fish, lots of sharks. We have alot of fairly dangerous wildlife.
But you guys have like moose and wolves and bears don't you? I actually find that alot more intimidating then spiders and snakes haha.

I'm probably gonna disappear for a bit I promise I'll continue this conversation I just gotta run up the shops with my sister for a bit because apparently we need groceries. I wont be long!

To be honest, only the first two years of the KH game were really good. Then the mods who ran the main plot left and new ones took over who kind of ruined it after a while. I'd have been better off leaving with the first mods, but I was in too deep. XD
Still, it was a beautiful story overall, and I do miss it. It's hard to get back into rp now because I don't know how I'll ever experience a game like that one again.

If my little scribbles can inspire creativity, I'll have done something right. I'll be keeping an eye on yours~

Canada's more known for the moose, but yeah, they can be pretty aggressive apparently (I live about 2000 miles away from the nearest wild moose, so don't assume I have any personal experience). The thing about wolves and bears (and mountain lions - we have those too) is that you're not going to see much of them in populated areas. In most states, not at all. It's kind of sad, really. I wish our larger wildlife wasn't as diminished as it is.
Oh, and we have alligators too, in the south - which does kind of freak me out - but I've heard they're very lazy. Also they taste like greasy chicken (this I do know from personal experience).

I think what gets me about spiders is that they can be right there in your house and you might not realize it. Bigger ones might actually be good for me. At least they'd be easier to spot. XD

@Israfel sorry for the massive delay! ended up going shopping for a heap of things my sister needed to wear for a job interview.

i've had a lot of experiences like that too, like you get really immersed in some kind of project or community and then new people start taking over and just kind of ruining the elements that made it so good it the first place its the worst. But seeing as you stuck with it beginning to end and it left such a big impact on you as a whole its a good thing you stayed around for the entirety of the story. and I'm sure if you keep an eye out and just keep trying new rp communities you'll be able to find something as just enjoyable and immersive, they're hard to find but they've got to be out there. If not just throwing yourself into things and getting involved is going to benefit your writing either way.

haha we can be mutual lurkers I assure you I will be following your stuff, I'll be sure to get some stuff up there in the next couple of days my weekends just going to be hectic with work so no personal drawings, but most of next week I can just focus on designing some dragons should be fun.

fft well I'm an idiot north american animals in general I'm embarrassing what part of the continent they're actually from. That is a shame I would love to visit the USA one day but I think the massive different between most of australia is that even in alot of our suburban areas like my town we still get a fair bit of decent wildlife around because we stiil have so much land everywhere and we're pretty underpopulated considering the size of the country. then again you guys get squirrels. and I will not die happy until I have met a squirrel.
I completely forgot about alligators! yeah we get the crocodile I have no idea if they taste very similar but I ate some at an aboriginal culture festival and if I remember it right it tasted alot like chicken too haha, where did you eat alligator?
I've heard alligators are pretty chill we have a lot of them in our zoo's most the ones I've seen are pretty small but I think thats because they're in captivity. Crocodiles are meant to be more dangerous then them because the difference is they dont have the mental perception that if somethings bigger then them its not prey, alligators do. So even a small crocodile has the potential to see you as food which is pretty terrifying haha.

I'm sorry for the massive huge block of text I'm a massive rambler haha. Yeah I prefer bigger spiders, I've got a pet tarantula called alice and she actually just looks like an eight legged fluffy mouse. the ones that actually freak me out are white tails and red backs because they hide in your shoes and clothes. I'll take ones I can actually see anyday.
