TOPIC | Hello, new here!
Hello!

My username is Elivagar and after some extensive reading for the encyclopedia I decided to join the ice flight because I love ice-themed things and thought that it might be kinda neat to do some kind of norse mythology themed names (I mean, my username is some sort of river in norse mythology, so!). Anyways, I love writing, I love making up lore and stories, and I hope to do that too for my clan/tribe/lair as well and all dragons I add to my dragon lair.

I decided to go with a Ice/Ice male, which after reading the recent news post, I decided to turn into a Gaoler. I also turned my female into a Gaoler, just because I got really excited about the new breed. I am debating if I should, however, wait breeding them. I don't really like the pink colors of the female, so I looked up if we could change colors. Unfortunately there isn't really any way to change colors specifically, but I did decide on trying to get 350 gems and then buying one of those Tri-Color Scatterscroll's (and hope for the best). It'll probably take a while to get that many gems, anyone got any tips for me on that?

Anyways, any tips on playing the game are welcome <3 It's a lot to take in haha.

edit; I was also thinking about collection some of those pets in the bestiary, any tips on that as well?

@Elivagar Welcome to FR! I've only been here for around two months, but I thought I'd give you some info.

About gems, if you manage to your average clan hunger above 80% (the bar in the top right corner) for a couple days, you'll receive a gem everyday and some other cool bonuses. However, this is a kind of slow method, and it'll take you a long time to get that many gems this way. The other two methods of getting gems is to buy them with real life currency, or to make bank selling things (dragons, items, familiars, whatever) on the Auction House. Surprisingly, the second method can be pretty profitable if you know what you're doing. If you're patient enough, though, in twenty days my Gaoler female will be free to breed, so maybe we could work something out ^^

Anyway, a good way to get any item you want is to get treasure, FR's primary currency. You can easily get treasure by selling any dragons you want (if you're confused about the price, check out dragons with the same traits and what their price is) or by playing games in the Fairgrounds. The game that gives off the most amount of average money is Glimmer & Gloom. However, Glim & Glm is a hard game to get the hang of, but there is a good in-site guide to it here.

Finally, there are tons, and I mean tons, of ways to get familiars. You can search for them when gathering every day, find them while training in the coliseum (and yes, all the coliseum enemies are also familiars), brew them at Baldwin's Bubbling Brew at the Trading Post, or by buying them at the Auction House. On a side note, I've got way too many familiars, so I'd be happy to give you one.

Sorry this was so long, I just wanted to make sure you got the answers you wanted. I hope you enjoy FR and all it brings!

@Membrane Hi! Thanks for replying to my thread, I have already browsed through a lot of the guides that were posted on the forums and was able to find a few that will help me a lot getting some money (treasure mainly) and I also tried out the guide of glimmer & gloom and found it very helpful! Have managed to get 20k so far already.

OH wow, that's a lot of ways to find familiars! I'll be sure to check them all out, somehow. I got a few from the coliseum already, which is nice. I'd love to take one of the familiars you own, but that's not necessary at all, very kind of you to offer though <3

@Elivagar It's not a problem at all, I've got so many familiars ;) I've replaced some of the familiars on my dragons, if you want to look at the fams through there. If none of them interest you, I have a couple others that currently aren't designated to a dragon.
