TOPIC | This is Lucky, checking in!
Hi everyone! I'm Lucky, I'm new to this game but had been somewhat interested already long before I joined. Still learning my way around the website, there is so much going on!

general info things:
-How did you find Flight Rising?
I first found the Scrying Workshop, I got linked to it a few years ago by a friend when I was looking for a way to design some of my dragon OCs without being limited to just one species of dragon. At the time I was very busy and definitely way in over my head with all the things I was doing, so I didn't even consider looking at the rest of the site.
And then I just... forgot about it. For at least two years. I heard about it in passing sometimes but it always sounded very complicated to me so I never considered joining. Until very recently when I joined a writing group on Discord. Some of the other members of that group are avid FR players and I kept an eye on the FR talk for a while, and when the person who referred me posted a pic of a VERY pretty Wildclaw hatchling and said I could have it if I joined, I caved and joined the site. So far I've been having fun, I'm figuring out how to navigate the website and it's not quite as confusing as it looks thanks to the game database and encyclopedia. It's still very overwhelming though.

-What flight did you join and why?
I'm in the Nature Flight. No real reason in particular, I thought Nature suited my aesthetic best, though I also considered Arcane and Light. I might switch to one of those (or Shadow, tbh, that one is also a great aesthetic) if I ever get tired of the Nature aesthetic, but for now I'm chilling in my forest.

-What is your favourite dragon breed?
Obelisk, though I like all the breeds that have floof. I'm weak for floof which is why I picked a Tundra as my starter, though I also really like Guardians and almost picked a Guardian. Honestly I like almost all the breeds, it's hard to just pick one favorite, but if I had to pick one I'll say Obelisk. It's just really cool-looking.

-Of the familiars, which ones are your favourite?
I don't think I've seen enough of them yet, but from the ones I've seen so far I really like the cat-like familiars, and if there are any horse-like ones I'll definitely like those as well.

-What are some of your hobbies/interests?
hobbies: I'm an artist and fanfiction author, I don't really post my art anywhere except in Discord servers, my fanfics are on Archive Of Our Own (I'll provide a link in a reply if anyone is interested, I mostly write Kingdom Hearts fanfics with the occasional other fandom popping up whenever I feel like writing for something else, most of my works are oneshots but I also have a few multichapter WIPs). I also like reading (my favorite genres are fantasy and historical fiction) and doing jigsaw puzzles and I sometimes play games, my favorite games are The World Ends With You (DS/Switch), Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS) and just about any Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game. I collect animal figurines, especially Sleich horses and wolves from just about any brand as long as the figurine looks nice. I have a recorder and an ocarina but haven't played either in a year, I still want to get back to that sometime.
interests:
- Languages: I'm kind of obsessed with languages, tbh. I'm fluent in two modern languages (Dutch and English) and decent at a third (German) and can read five dead languages (Ancient Greek, Latin, Old English, Old Irish, and medieval Welsh) as long as I'm allowed to use dictionaries. Trying to translate random bits of Latin text off the top of my head whenever I visit some place that has them (museum, ancient Roman ruins, church/cathedral, etcetera) is one of my favorite things to do on vacation, I just can't help myself, it's like a puzzle to me and I just can't resist puzzles if I think I can solve them.
- History: I really like all history from before the Industrial Revolution (everything after that blurs together for me), but I'm especially a big fan of the Middle Ages. Medieval history is way more interesting than most people think and I'm honestly kind of obsessed with the cultures from that time. I don't know much about non-European history, but I'd like to learn more eventually.
- Biology: If I hadn't gone into history and languages, I would've studied biology, specifically studying genetics or evolution (which is why the whole breeding aspect of FR just captivates me). I've always been a fan of genetics and evolution related things, and I'm also fascinated by animal skeletons and taxidermy. Part of that is my artist brain talking, bones are really fun shapes to draw and it's good to know the underlying structure and study good taxidermies to understand how anatomy works, but I also just have a fascination with the way skeletons look, they're just really visually interesting to me. I was definitely that one person in biology class who didn't mind the animal dissections.
- Other things: I'm also fascinated by mechanical things, especially automata and clocks, I have a mild fascination with manuscripts and medieval art, I love learning about old animated movies and watching some classics as well as modern masterpieces (to give some examples: over the past month I watched Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron, Felidae, Wolfwalkers, and The Last Unicorn, and I moved Watership Down to the front of my to-watch list which moved Road to ElDorado, The Lion King and Simba's Pride down the list a little), and I love watching let's plays and speedruns of games that I don't have the time or interest to play myself.
Honestly, my interests are all over the place, but most can be categorized as fandom-related things, history-related things and/or visually interesting things.

that was WAY too long but whatever. I ramble a lot, in case you couldn't tell XD

Hi! I bet you’ll love the Nightmare familiar—they’re like spooky unicorns! There’s also the Carrioncorn and several varieties of Cerdae that are very pretty.

Sometimes in the Coliseum you get one of the creatures you’ve been fighting as a familiar! If I recall right, the Nightmare and Carrioncorn are in the Volcanic Vents, while some Cerdae are in the Blooming Grove and some are in the Mire
