Hello, welcome!

There are guides on the Forums that can introduce you to some of the trickier things—I recommend looking at a glimmer and gloom guide for your fairgrounds visits.

Welcome to FR! I would say, do whatever makes you happy. There are a lot of playstyles on this site, so try them all until you find your niche. My advice would be this: 1. Get a Coliseum team to level 25. It may seem like it takes forever, but once you have a coli team, everything will be a breeze. here is the most popular Coliseum guide. I followed it with my first team it it works very well. Coli is good for getting food, familiars, apparel, and items. All for free (all it costs is time). 2. Fairgrounds is spectacular for getting money. A lot of player tend to max out the Fairgrounds money cap every day. That's 75,000 treasure, every single day. It adds up quick. Here is the most popular Fairgrounds guide, which, once you get the hang of it, lets you finish one puzzle every (around) 10 seconds. Remember to keep track of your treasure output, because after a while you won't earn any money for completing the puzzles. 3. Hoard, hoard, hoard. Items are really important early game. Try not to sell any item (no matter how common) you get. Almost everything can be used for something (hibernal den, Swipp Swap, etc). DO NOT OPEN RUSTY CHESTS!!! You can use iron ore and gold ore to upgrade them to better chests with more loot. 4. The Auction House is your best friend. Items sell for more, you can buy practically anything, and you can buy dragons. A few tips: Never buy or sell anything in your flight specific auction house. Always use the Realm Wide Auction House. Items sell better if you set an auction to 1 day. 7 days just costs more to list. 5. Familiars! Bonding with familiars will give you treasure every day, and chests every time they level up. The highest level a familiar can get is "awakened" 6. Festivals: Every month there is a festival celebrating a flight. Each year starts in June, with the Light festival (which means light apparel sells for the most money), and ends with the Greenkeeper's Gathering. During the festival, there is one returning item (currently the domain scenes), one familiar, one unique apparel, and one apparel which runs a common theme with all the year's festivals. These common theme apparels are the most valuable. This year being the elemental charms. (example: [item=fire's charm]) 7. Art shops: If you are considering doing commissions here's an old "How to Make an Art Shop" that I sent someone:
On the first post, welcome the buyer to the shop. Explain what you are drawing and not drawing and have a list of how many commissions you are taking at a time. On the second post, state your prices for each type of art and maybe offer discounts for newbies or people in the same flight as you. It is also a good idea to post your wishlist here so people could pay you with items that you want instead of treasure or gems. Decide the ratio of items to currency On the third post, have an example of each type of commission (one sketch, one colored, one with a background) Include some examples of completed commissions as well so the buyer knows you follow through and you are consistent On the fourth post, have an option for affiliates to put their badges. Affiliates are great because they will bump your shop so you get noticed. But remember that you are also an affiliate so bump their shop in return. The fifth post can be a “just in case” kinda thing, or you could thank the buyer for visiting your shop. Remember to include a directory on the top of the posts with links to the other posts so the buyer can go from examples back to prices quickly. Include colorful banners and headers. With interesting visuals, the buyers feel like you are more professional. There are a lot of free to use deciders and visuals in the Creative Corner. If you end up having to bump your own shop, delete the previous bump. If you leave all the self-bumps your shop looks empty and sad. It makes people think that you don’t get any commissions. Create a small button or banner to put in your signature. make sure it says art shop, and make sure it’s your favorite piece of art displayed.
Sorry for such a long post. I hope this helps! :D
