INTRO AND EXPLANATION

Hello!

When I first started on this site, I was immediately drawn to the breeding and genes system and how that all worked. I thought it might be fun to make a challenge out of it. SO! This challenge is about breeding all the genes into your genetic line. In other words:

GET ALL THE GENES.

This is meant as a personal challenge, but if anyone wants to do it with me, feel free! The more the merrier!

RULES

Getting all the genes is a fairly easy task if you just want to go to the AH and buy them, but where's the fun in that? No challenge at all. We want to breed the genes into one line. SO! Here are the rules, plus some alternative additions if anyone wants to do this as well.

START WITH A PAIR: If you still have them, your progenitors are the pair you start with. If you do not still have them, use the first pair in your lair right now.
- Change nothing about them. They come as they are.
- HARD MODE: Get a pair of dergs with all Basic genes.
- They can have already had children, that part doesn't matter for this challenge.
BREED THAT PAIR: Pretty self-explanitory. Get them eggs!
PICK A DERG: Choose the hatchling from that nest to be the first true part of this line. Doesn't matter which one you choose, just pick one.
- This challenge can be hard if your progens are all still basic of genes. At this point, you may change this kid to all non-basic genes, IF YOU WANT.
- This will be the ONLY time you can change a gene in your genetic line. So, choose well.
- These genes will count towards your goal, but their parents's genes do not.
- HARD MODE: Do not change any genes. If you've got all Basic, you need to breed to get non-basic genes.
FIND A MATE: Get that first gen kid a dragon it can have kids with.
- Doesn't need to be a specific breed or color or anything. Just a good mate.
- Good idea to pick a dragon who has all different genes from the one you're mating it with.
- This mate's genes DO NOT count towards your gene goal. Only their childrens'.
BREED THAT PAIR (REDUX): Get those guys a nest.
PICK A DERG (Part 2): Here's the fun part, where you got options.
- EASY MODE: If there was only one egg in the nest, you get a second chance. Breed again. After that, you have to choose one.
- HARD MODE: One egg, only chance. You have to use that egg. That's your next gen in this lineage.
- BREED PURITY: If you want, you can choose to only pick one breed each time you start a new gen. For example; Your first gen was a Fae, then you can only choose Fae in every single nest and generation from this point on. (This DOES mean you can try for another nest if none in your first one is that breed.)
- ALL THE DERGS!: For a slightly different approach, while trying to get all the genes, you must breed all the dragons too. Remember: The mate you choose for each gen does not count, only their children.
- MATRIARCHY PATRIARCHY: Maybe instead of breed purity, you want only girls or boys to count for your lineage? Maybe switch off every other gen? Doesn't matter, but if you pick one, stick with it for the rest of the challenge!
- Best, of course, to pick a baby here that has as many different genes from the lineage parent as possible.
RINSE, REPEAT: Keep breeding until you can check off all the genes from the list.
YOU'RE DONE!: You actually did it? CONGRATULATIONS!

12/21/18: Eggs hatched. Two new genes! (One of these days, I'm gonna get 3 new genes and I won't know what to do with myself.)
12/16/18: New nest! Three eggs!
11/29/18: Egg hatched with 2 new genes!
11/24/18: 1 egg nest...
11/9/18: 3 eggs hatched and 2 new genes!
11/4/18: Dust and Andes have laid a 3 egg nest!
10/20/18: Eggs hatched, and got two new genes. And a new mate.
10/15/18: Selene and Blackreach have all grown up and laid a 3 egg nest!
9/30/18: Egg hatched, and we get two new genes! Also found a mate for Selene, Blackreach!
9/25/18: Lensherr and Marble laid one egg.
9/10/18: Nest hatched, and got one hatchling with 3 new genes! His name is Lensherr. Found a mate for him, too! Named Marble.
9/5/18: Coral and Maleficent have laid a three-egg nest!
9/3/18: Got Coral a different mate because his scry babies with Mallow were... not good.
8/21/18: Got a mate for Coral, named Mallow.
8/21/18: Egg hatched, and we get a new baby with no new genes. His name is Coral.
