I've recently returned from a long FR hiatus and decided I need a good writing challenge to get back in the swing of things. Despite having a general clan lore since day 1 and bios for some of my main dragons, SO MANY of my permanent clan members still have nothing in their bios! In the past, I put this off by writing lore for other people's dragons...
But no more!
The Goal
At the end of my self-inflicted challenge, all my permanent babies will have at least a short paragraph in their bio detailing some aspect of their personality, background, clan role, etc.
The Rules
~ Every day from now until the list runs out, I must write lore for at least one dragon on the list (I don't have to go in order) and will post that here!
~ If I skip a day, I must make it up the following day (or if I write two in one day, I can skip writing the next day, which I may do if I know I won't be able to write that day)
~ My clan follows a ranking system, which hasn't been updated in ages. As I write lore, I'll update the rankings HERE

The XayXayx Clan (pronounced high-high) is a strictly matriarchal hierarchy with KucKuc dominating as alpha female. Every female in the clan chooses whom she mates with, and no male dragon in the clan will ever challenge a female for rank. Rank often fluctuates among females, but even the lowest ranking female ranks higher than the highest ranking male (this is the same hierarchy that hyenas have in the wild!). Male dragons can only join the clan if a female in the clan vouches for them.
Check individual dragons to view their current rank, personality traits, and background information! (Dragon rank is designated by either a M (male) or F (female) followed by the dragon's rank number, with 1 being the highest ranking individual of that gender). Dragons are also arranged in the order of their ranking (mostly).

Upsilon likes shrooms. A lot. In fact, she's the mushroom expert for the clan. Now, this may not sound like a vital role, but that's because your organs haven't dissolved quite painfully from the toxins in a Lesser Hairy Nightcap. Not that Upsilon would ever give any of her beloved clan members one of these, but she sometimes has an annoying habit of giving them a Piped Sidewinder, for example, and watching with great glee as the receiving dragon (usually an unsuspecting male she lured to her nest) finds themselves unable to stop walking in circles for the rest of the day... Unsurprisingly, she doesn't have many close friends in the clan. The main reason she was allowed to join the clan at all was at the behest of [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?p=lair&id=307990&tab=dragon&did=33893265]Izrea[/url], who frequently requires Upsilon's knowledge of mushrooms containing medicinal properties. Although at times it may not seem like it, Upsilon cares deeply for her clan members, and would never do anything to permanently harm them.

[center]Rowan doesn't remember what his birthclan was like, because he never lived with them. For reasons he will never know, he was abandoned as a hatchling by his parents in the Viridian Labyrinth. If not for a unique band of centaurs that found him and decided to take him in rather than slaughter him, he would not have survived a week on his own. Unlike many bands of centaurs in Sorneith, this herd believed that the centuries old conflicts between the beastclans and dragonkind were senseless and unnecessary. The only reason any animosity existed between the species was because that was what they were taught from a young age. They traveled Sorneith, trying to spread their message of peace, and with Rowan, they had the perfect chance to prove that their philosophy was not nonsense.
As Rowan grew, he joined the herd on their travels, learning their ways. Having never known his adoptive herd to be cruel or violent, he too strongly believed in their teachings. These strangers had cared for him as if he were their own hatchling, which was more than he could say for his own dragon parents. As a young adult he pledged himself to the service of the centaurs. In every new region of Sorneith they traveled to, Rowan would seek out dragon clans and spread his message. Often he was met with ridicule or disdain, sometimes even outright violence, but sometimes, very rarely, a clan would listen to his words of peace.
Time passed and Rowan watched as his companions, the herd that had raised him, began to age. It had never dawned on him that dragons lived much longer than centaurs, but when he realized the truth, he made a solemn vow with the entire herd as witness. For as long as he lived and breathed, he would do everything in his power to promote peace between the beastclans and dragonkind.
As the years passed and the members of Rowan's herd finally succumbed to old age, Rowan found himself alone. He still tried to carry out his promise, but found that many clans were much less receptive to a lone dragon. Many turned him away after hearing his message, assuming he was just some crazed dragon, not right in the head, living alone because no clan was stupid enough to take him in. Discouraged, but refusing to back down on his promise to those that had raised him, Rowan changed tactics. He would join a clan by proving to them that centaurs and dragons could live alongside one another, the same way his herd has proven with him.
Returning to the place where it all began, the Viridian Labyrinth, Rowan made his bid to join many clans. Eventually, he stumbled into Xayxayx clan territory and was convinced after speaking with KucKuc for only a few minutes, that this was the clan he was destined to join. After living with the clan on a trail basis for many years, he eventually joined, vouched for by KucKuc herself. She too believed that the pointless strife between beastclans and dragonkind had gone on long enough, and she agreed to help Rowan fulfill his promise. Backed by a powerful clan with plentiful resources, other clans become more receptive to Rowan's message than they had been before, and Rowan himself found joy in doing right by those that had so selflessly cared for him all those years ago.[/center]

[i]The Imperial stood at the edge of the ring of dragons, her lips moving fluidly, chanting along with the many forms beside her. The raging fire in their center reflected off of her jet black hide and she stared into its depths, transfixed… the flickering flames seemed to be calling to her…[/i]
Although not originally from the realm of the Flamecaller, Phoenix had been allowed to join this sacred ceremony as a reward for her five years of dedicated service to the deity. The clan with whom she was chanting were infamous as fanatics. Their rituals were so rarely observed by outsiders that no one really knew what transpired at them. Phoenix had spent years attempting to research them before approaching a clan member, but the closest she had gotten were vague rumors of gigantic fires and mysterious powers bestowed on the most devout members by the Flamecaller himself. In the end, it was the clan who found Phoenix, not the other way around.
And now she was finally about to learn if the rumors were true…
[i]As she continued staring into the flames, the Imperial felt herself being drawn towards them. She didn’t resist the pull but instead followed it, out of the circle of dragons around her and straight towards the raging inferno before her. An inexplicable calm surrounded her, even as the tendrils of flame flickered across her skin, even as she walked straight into the heart of the fire….
When the fire had finally receded to embers, Phoenix stirred from beneath them, the ash crumbling away from her shimmering obsidian hide, which now glittered like glass. Upon seeing her emerge from the dying fire, the dragons ceased chanting and bowed to the ground, calling out in a single voice,
“All hail the Flamecaller, forever may his forges burn!”
And with that final summons, Phoenix rose to her feet, opened her coal-black maw, and let loose a roaring jet of flame.[/i]
