Hello and welcome to my Pinkerlocke!

First of all, please be aware that english is not my first language!I'll try my best regardless and help is always welcome.

I've started a Pinkerlocke in the past. The characters never really grew on me though, so I lost motivation. I still want to do a Locke so here's my new one. I've also made it my new year's resolution to not drop this again. I'm positive I can do this on a regular basis >:)

Quote:
Basic rules:
  • All loot obtained in the coliseum is irrelevant, as is the loot obtained from gathering.
  • There are no restrictions about applying apparel to your dragons. Do whatever makes sense to you. Same goes for familiars.
  • And, most crucially, all nuzlocke activity corresponds with the loot you obtain daily from Pinkerton's plundered pile!

Optional sentimental rule:
If a dragon reaches level 25 it "retires". It can join the ranks of your main lair.

Drops of Fate:

Food: Coliseum time!
Plants: 10-20 matches
Insects: 20-30 matches
Seafood: 30-40 matches
Meat: 40-50 matches

Kind of a Medium mode: You must select coliseum challengers in your lair using a random number generator. Then flip a coin, if Tails choose whichever venue you like, if Heads select the venue that matches your highest level dragon (of course I can always choose a higher level venue, if I'm dumb or crazy.). You can quit your battle streak at any time to regen health, and flee from battles if it is appropriate. Don't try do 50 matches in a row unless you want a wiped-out dragon!

Battle items: Uh-oh!!!

Flip a coin.
Heads = DEATH STREAK
Tails = Nothing happens

DEATH STREAK rules: Randomly select three dragons using a random number generator. Fight in the coliseum using the "food" rules 10 rounds consecutively (ie. you cannot leave that arena), quitting midway if a dragon dies. If you are using the easymode rules, switch to the hardmode rules for battlestones.

Note that there is currently a glitch in which Pinkerton mislabels materials as trinkets. If you obtain a "trinket" from Pinkerton, double check to make sure its not actually a material!

Materials: Do some writing for your nuzlocke. How does your new nuzlocke clan change and develop? What are your dragons like personality-wise? How do they get along? How do they die? Is there an antagonist in this nuzlocke, or are they merely struggling against the forces of nature? Write dragon bios! Make a blog, or a thread for your challenge in the creative forums! Write short stories or paragraphs, or add to one big one adventure!

Trinkets: Do some art for your nuzlocke! Digital or traditional, use whatever medium feels best for you. Draw deaths. Draw dragons. Draw humanized versions of your dragons (if that's your sort of thing). Draw familiars and dragons together. It doesn't have to be that good or elaborate. If you make a nuzlocke thread, post your art there.

Obviously, you might not have time in your day to do something creative. If that's the case, don't worry about it. This challenge is meant to be fun and heartwrenching, not a chore.

Familiars: Buy the cheapest dragon in the auction house of a specific breed. Use a random number generator (between 1-16) to determine which breed you will get! (Optionally: attach the familiar to the new dragon.)

1. Fae
2. Guardian
3. Mirror
4. Pearlcatcher
5. Ridgeback
6. Tundra
7. Spiral
8. Imperial
9. Snapper
10. Wildclaw
11. Nocturne
12. Coatl
13. Skydancer
14. Bogsneak
15. Gaoler
16. Banescale

Apparel: Breed two of your dragons. The dragons you pick are up to you. You can also change one of the genes on a dragon, or use a scatterscroll if you are rich and crazy.

Custom rule: If no dragons are able to breed or it doesn't just doesn't make sense lore wise, start counting apparel drops until it reaches 3 and buy a random dragon from the AH. After that the count resets.

Note: You must flip a coin for each hatchling once they hatch. If tails, the dragon is dead and you must exalt it. This is in keeping with the origional Nuzlocke thread's rule, because I really like it.

Starting out:
Using the method I detailed in the "familiar" possibility above, obtain a small number of dragons (I suggest 2 or 3). If they already have names, keep the name! If not, name them whatever you like. The challenge starts once all of the dragons, if they are hatchlings, grow into adulthood.

Alternatively, choose 2-3 existing dragons in your lair to participate. This has certain advantages (eliminates the need to wait for maturity and breeding cooldowns) but also some disadvantages (less random=less exciting).

You may want to "partition" your nuzlocke dragons away from your regular dragons so you don't get them mixed up.

Losing:
If your dragon count falls to zero you have a few options
1. Declare the challenge a "loss" and give up
2. Wait for Pinkerton to drop a familiar
3. Just say "welp" and buy another dragon from the AH without waiting for Pinkerton because you lack patience.

Prologue

The air was thick, smelling of sweat, blood and fear. Ten dragons in battered armour were cooped up in a tiny room with only one exit, a massive wooden gate. They stared at in anticipation, if it was out of excitement or fear was hard to tell. From behind the gate a chorus of shouts, cheers and whistles could be heared, occaisonally interrupted by the loud voice of an announcer who tried to keep the masses entertained during the short „clean-up-breaks“. By now realization had found its way to most of the waiting dragons. One had started trembling so violently that their armour made rattling noises while another had started praying to their chosen deity. The tension was almost tangible.

Then, finally, the wooden gate slowly started moving. The cheers had now swollen to an almost unbearable volume. Blinding light awaited behind it and the dragons took their first hesitant steps into the arena as the announcer called out their names one after the other.

Only one of them would return home today.

There was no fear in their eyes, just curiosity and in the case of the larger Banescale girl, impatience. This was the moment it dawned on her. She knew nothing about hatchlings. "Uhm...hello there little ones,“ Mournwind spoke as slow as dragonly possible, not sure how to interact with the small creatures. „My name is Mournwind and I ...uhm...welcome you to my humble home. I sincerely hope we will get along and-“ The Spiral broke out in hearty laughter, holding his belly. "How can you say something like that with a straight face?!“ Mournwind felt herself blushing and her fists clenching. She had never felt this helpless before. "Shush, Gladiolus!“ The Banescale glared at the Spiral, who desperatly tried to suppress a hiccup interrupting his constant giggling. She straightened herself and directed her attention back to Mournwind. "My name is Achillia and I am honoured to be the apprentice of such a great fighter as yourself. Just so you know, I will be the greatest fighter the arena has ever seen! My mommy has taught me well.“ She puffed out her chest. „When will the training lessons begin? I will do anything!“ "If your mother is such a good teacher, how come you’re here?“ Mournwind wanted to slap herself as soon as the words had left her mouth. Of course she knew why. Achillia shrugged. "Mommy is dead. She was very strong, but not strong enough. That’s why I have to be even stronger! So my mommy can be proud of me.“ The thought of it didn’t seem to faze the girl in the slightest and for a moment the Nocturne felt admiration for so much strenght. It was a long tradition that hatchlings in Dust City (or „the home under the blood-red sand“, the city’s name in Coatl) who had lost their parents were assigned to experienced fighters for housing and training. Not all of these „apprentices“ are usually born in Dust City though, some get bought from the outside. The Auction House is a famous trade company which conducts illegal trades as frequently as legal ones. There is nothing one can’t get at The Auction House: rare animals, beastclan slaves, hatchlings and even eggs,sold by or stolen from their parents. That way the owners of the arena could make sure they always had enough fighters in the making. "Alright. Yes. Training.“ She sighed and began to massage her temples. She felt exhaustion wash over her. The day had taken its toll on her. "Tomorrow. We will start the training tomorrow.“ She didn’t have a choice regarding the hatchlings. She felt uncomfortable in their prescence, but she couldn’t just leave them on their own. If no one taught them to fight, they would die. Even with the proper skills it was unlikely that they survived long, but at least that did not lie within her responsibility. One thing was clear, though: She couldn’t do this alone. She needed help. Fast. [/left] ---------------------- First time the three venture into the Coliseum!

"Tomorrow. We will start the training tomorrow.“

She didn’t have a choice regarding the hatchlings. Fast.

First time the three venture into the Coliseum! Everyone is now level 4 and I even got an apparel drop Copper Steampunk Scarf

@Petall

I have to admit, I am super happy I rolled a Banescale for one of my starters <3
Also, I'm sorry I didn't update daily, exams are slowly creeping nearer and studying takes most of my time. I'll try to do at least one or two updates a week though :3

@Drachenschwinge

Who, this story just gets more and more interesting as I learn about the structure of how everything works here. I hope everything works out for the hatchlings, I already feel so bad for them.
