The Sunbeam Ruins are under attack by a rovin’ band of outlaws! Are you up to the challenge of fightin’ em off, pardner? Let’s ride!

Cowboys & Outlaws is a multiplayer Fodderlocke challenge. If you're not familiar with a fodderlocke, the original post is here. The play of the game is gathering and leveling fodder, then playing around with dice to see what to do with them! This is a multiplayer setup that can be used single player if so desired. Originally designed for Light Flight Discord, now it's open to all!

Setup
Select your opponent! Pick a friend and begin play! One of you will play Cowboys, and the other Outlaws.

Select your Sheriff or Desperado, pardner! Your character can be randomly selected from your pool of level 25 challengers, or you can pick ‘em yourself. Your chosen will be the one trainin’ up your band for the showdown. Dress up your character appropriately. Your Sheriff or Desperado will not be lost during the game, only fodder according to the rolls. (Dying in the coli doesn't count!)

Some outlaw done took out one of your friends! It’s time to mount up on your vendetta ride and take ‘em out! Leave nobody standin’!
Roll up, pardner, and see what you’ve gotta do!

  1. Rescued: You done saved a family of ranchers from the outlaws! Pick up two ready-to-breed fodder dragons and pop ‘em on a nest. Those children will join your vendetta ride when they’re of age.
  2. Love in War: Ain’t nothin’ gets the heart poundin’ like a vendetta ride. Two of your deputies have entered a relationship. They stick together, now. If one rides into the sunset, so does the other.
  3. Wannabe Hero: You got some wild hooligan on a horse that’s trailin’ behind you now. Pick up a random dragon off the auction house.
  4. Findin’ the Trail: Pardner, it’s time to find them outlaws. Pick two of your deputies and take ‘em to the coliseum. If you find supplies (battle stone), good huntin’ (a familiar), some treasure (a chest), or some colors (apparel), you done good work, pardner.
  5. Spotted an outlaw! Ride on, pardner! Pick two of your fine deputies and knock one off the list by levelin’ em both a level. Roll a six sided die. If you roll a one, one of your deputies was lost in the shootout!

[b]An Egg Dropped:[/b] Good luck, pardner. Sell that thing off at auction if you feel like. Grab up three additional cowboys or outlaws to add to your respective band. [b]Rally:[/b] Both of your outlaws or deputies are safe from any elimination rolls you got planned up next. [b]Ambush:[/b] Well, one of your pardners balked! Send ‘em home back to your lair and pick up another to replace ‘em. Vault your treasure after setup and use your treasure earned as your final score. Up for the challenge, pardner? Use these to add some flavor to your adventure across the Ruins:

Time yourself by listening to an hour of rootin’ tootin’ music of the cowboy brand. Don’t have a tune? Try this.

An Eliminate Dropped: Both of your deputies or outlaws must ride into the sunset.

A Gene Dropped: Add a leather coat to your cowboys. The extra buffer will take one killin’ shot for each. If they take a killin’ shot, instead take off the coat.

An Egg Dropped: Good luck, pardner. Sell that thing off at auction if you feel like. Grab up three additional cowboys or outlaws to add to your respective band.

Rally: Both of your outlaws or deputies are safe from any elimination rolls you got planned up next.

Ambush: Well, one of your pardners balked! Send ‘em home back to your lair and pick up another to replace ‘em.

Scorekeeping seems hard at first, but is rather simple. Vault your treasure after setup and use your treasure earned as your final score. Here's the set score on each level you have, whether you exalt them or have to keep them on their nest:
Hatchling/Egg: 2,500
Level 1: 6,000
Level 2: 6,000
Level 3: 6,000
Level 4: 7,000
Level 5: 8,500
Level 6: 10,000
Level 7: 11,500
Level 8: 13,000
Level 9: 14,500
Level 10: 16,000
Level 11: 17,500
Level 12: 19,000
Level 13: 20,500
Level 14: 22,000
Level 15: 23,500

Try not go to past 15.

If you must withdraw from your hoard to buy up new cowpokes, you go into the negative!

When the game completes and you enter your loss conditions, you must calculate all eggs and hatchlings as above, along with their family's score. When you can, exalt them as well, as your whole band was wiped out!
