I've been on FR since 2014, and I've enjoyed breeding my dragons to see what beautiful babies I'd get. This is the first time, however, that I'll be breeding to get a specific dream dragon.
As soon as Veilspuns were released, I knew I had to have one as a permababy. The specifics of the colors and genes took a little more thought (this is why I still don't have a Spiral permabab, despite loving baby noodles the best). When Stitched and Patchwork came out, I thought they'd be perfect for a ragdoll permabab. It was a no-brainer once I found out they were available for Veilspuns.
Picking out the tert was harder, but I wanted something that really went with the ragdoll look. I like how Mop can resemble lengths of fabric sewn to a doll to make hair, which is why I chose it. I then spent some time playing with colors in the Scrying Workshop to find the right combo. Surprisingly, it wasn't my usual default of all greens and blues.
Behold, Tatterdemalion:
In fact, the tert can be Aqua or Teal, and ideally the eyes would be Ice. Maybe I will rent a few Ice nests once I get near the end of the project.
Anyway, since this is an Ancient, I'm already breed-limited. That's one of the parameters of the challenge, since I'm not willing to spend the gems for a breed change. I am willing to brew Stitched and Patchwork, and have already done so.
I'd prefer not to buy Mop. If I have to, I have a Mop Veilspun I could use in the project, though her colors aren't ideal. I'd probably end up haunting the AH for quite a while, finding the right mate for her to get my goal colors in the range. If I have to spend time combing the AH regularly, I'd rather just do so for a Mop with the right colors.
So, this is mostly a color challenge, but also a bit of a gene challenge, because neither of my starting pair have Mop:
My aim is to get one of my target colors (two would be better, but I'll settle for one). Then, I'll take that offspring and search for a mate who either matches on that color or is only one color off, and keep going until I get a match on the next color.
Since my tert can be either Teal or Aqua, there's a little wiggle room there, which should make it easier to find my Mop. For now, I have to wait for my first pair to grow up so they can breed.
Maybe I'll go play with baby noodles in the Scrying Workshop...
