Hello and welcome to scar66's instalment of the All-Basic to All-Rare challenge!
This is ripped directly from @Festivoog's challenge here.
So basically, how this goes is that I will be starting with an all basic plentiful G1 and breed them with an all-common gened dragon, continuing to take the best from the next generation to move forward until I have an all-common offspring. And then I'll continue to all-uncommon, etc. until I reach all-rare. Unlike Festivoog, I will only be doing one line of dragons instead of three because... rip lair space. However, I will be adding the caveat of needing to breed the correct species rarity as well as genes!
I will be updating this thread whenever something happens, like nesting, hatching, or choosing mates.
Now, who better to start off with than my good ol' girl Rascal, who I hatched for April Fool's day a couple years ago and then never touched again? Her new mate is the all-common pearlie Zaine, fresh off the AH. Ironically, their birthdays are only 3 days apart.

Any dragons retired from the program or children not selected as heirs will end up on this post offered for sale for a period of time before being listed for fodder/exalted. I want to give this family a chance to expand beyond the challenge!
These guys are always 10kt unless otherwise stated! I want to keep them a bit above fodder floor for at least a little while to give them a chance at being picked up by someone interested in the challenge or in lineages. Or honestly just ask if you really want one of them and I'll probably give them to you. I care about giving them a chance more than money lol.

And the first nest is a go! Rascal and Zaine have blessed me with an incredibly average three eggs.

@Festivoog
And the first nest has hatched! Boy was I excited to get to do this today. I got blindsided by a positive covid diagnosis a couple days ago so I'm celebrating the small victories lol.
Anyway, onto the nest! Please excuse the naming scheme. I don't know why I chose major corporations. I just... sick brain ig.

Baby #1 Procter - M Pearlcatcher

Oooooh baby, one common and the breed change we needed. Immediate relief when I saw the hatches, I was so worried I'd end up with three all-basic mirrors. Whew. He's got fairly nice colors, I like cool greens. Plus special eyes! Perhaps not as special as a primal or a multigaze, but I'm still pleased. Two upgrades.

Baby #2 Gamble - F Mirror
Cobalt Basic - Ultramarine Striation - Royal Basic
Common Eyes
I like her colors a lot, she's got a nice tight range. And striation again, not bad. One upgrade.

Baby #3 Johnson - M Mirror
Thicket Basic | Blue Striation | Twilight Basic
Common Eyes
Okay, striation game is way strong. How did we hit it 3/3 times, but none of the other pattern genes? Anyway, Johnson's probably my least favorite of the three, but that said he's still nice. You're tryin', kid. One upgrade.
Out of the three, Procter was the one kiddo who managed to nail 2/4 gene upgrades. So he will be the heir to continue the challenge! Now off to find him a suitable mate.

May I be added to the pinglist too, please? You may browse my for sale tab anytime and if you find a suitable dragon there, send me a message and I'll give him/her to you for free (some exceptions may apply, but mostly not). I understand if that's against the spirit of the challenge tho. Good luck!

Absolutely, I'll add you right away! And thanks a bunch for the offer, that's super sweet of you. It's totally not against the spirit or anything, in fact I love the community involvement aspect of it! I'll definitely let you know if there's ever one that fits what I'm searching for!

Good luck on your recovery! Procter is a good bean. Do you have any ideal color range for the final hatches or are you letting the RNG do what it wants to do?
