Your clan's ancestral digging grounds were running low on resources, but you kept going. It was your duty to the clan to bring back the treasure, and even though you have to work 5 times as hard as your ancestors to bring back a quarter of what they did, you never quit. You trudge wearily back in the direction of your lair, thinking of the long miles you still need to traverse. Nothing interesting ever happens on the trip back, and you're not expecting this time to be any different. However, it was about to change drastically. Suddenly, a large rock hits you in the face. The bottles and crystals in your pack clank as you stumble back, dazed. As you're trying to figure out who just attacked you, someone yells, [quote]"Hide me! Oh Tidelord, I beg of you! Hide me!"[/quote] Your vision clears, and you turn to tell whoever just attacked you to bugger off before you send them to study under the Arcanist. To your surprise, the road behind you is empty. And... did something just dig itself into your pack? When you open it to investigate, head still throbbing, you find a quivering clam hiding under the flap. Well. This is... Different. "They're after me! Please!" the clam yelps, a bow on top of his head flopping as he nestles deeper into your packs. Right before you can ask who, a swarm of Water Sprites races past you, chattering rapidly. One of them gets caught in one of your pack straps, and you pluck it out gently by the foot. You don't understand what it says to you, but judging by the tone and gestures it isn't nice. Throwing it over your shoulder, you look back at your stowaway. The clam comes out from hiding, shakes its vibrant bow back into place, and does what you can only describe as a curtsy. [quote]Thank you so much, kind dragon! You explained your job to your clan, and shamefully showed your spoils of a month long trip. The little bivalve understood your plight, and nodded sagely. I am on a quest to send letters to each of the other deities, and unless you want to come with me, you will have to wait,” [/quote] Of course you asked how long, and cheerily the little ribboned courier replied: “6 months!” Flabbergasted, you asked why it would take so long, and the clam told you about how every where he went, he was hunted by the sprites of the deities. Apparently he was ‘delicious’, which forced him to take the long and tedious routes to reach each deity. It only took you a few moments to make a decision. What would have taken 6 months, would only take a week, you told your new companion. Because now you were going on the quest with the little clam, and as soon as the two of you returned, you would collect your reward.
