[center][size=5][b]Grow My Garden[/b][/size][/center] In trying to get organized for the garden this year (I was extremely unmotivated last year, and it showed), a thought came to me about having you lovely people [s]suffer[/s] sponsor some of my projects and help me make the garden [s]acceptable[/s] beautiful this year. [s]essentially, you hold me accountable[/s] [emoji=coatl tongue size=4] [size=4][b]What is a Sponsor?[/b][/size] As a Sponsor, you Volunteer to "take on" one of my projects or plants. If I do one of the goals for it, you get a reward! This lasts all season, or until you tell me you're ready to go tackle your own yard and yield up the sponsorship to be adopted by another interested party, or the project comes to it's conclusion. Some only last till early summer, others till fall. [size=4][b]Do I owe anything to Sponsor?[/b][/size] Nope! You get an occasional ping about whatever you're sponsoring, and sometimes you reap a small reward for goals accomplished. [size=4][b]What are the Sponsor Rewards?[/b][/size] A small amount of Gems, Treasure, Food, Brewing mats, etc., for when I complete a gardening goal related to your sponsorship. I've got a 20 sided die I'll be rolling to determine monetary amounts. Sometimes you'll score, other times, you'll have a dainty reward. [size=4][b]Who can join a raffle?[/b][/size] Anyone can join in an available raffle! Raffles will be silly stuff like when I plant flowers, you'll get to guess what color the flower may be if it blooms. [size=4][b]Are there downsides to being a Sponsor/Joining a Raffle?[/b][/size] This is Real Life, so sometimes plants don't survive. In the event of plant demise, the raffle will be canceled, or the sponsorship ends. [size=4][b]Limits![/b][/size] You may sponsor [i]2 plants and 2 projects[/i], but not more. If you wish to claim a different plant or project, you will have to drop one of your prior claims to claim another. Any unclaimed prize CRs will be cancelled after 7 days.

Below are the projects and plants. The list will grow as the season progresses, but here is the start!

Green Frame with Vibrant Leaves: Project! Projects have a variable number of sponsors.

Sponsor: @/Eskris Plant: Wickson Crab Apple O.P. Seedling - 2019 Started spring 2019, this twig tree is the sole survivor after a hard summer of black vine weevil damage. Goal: Did it survive the winter? Possible Complications: Black Vine Weevils. Last year they killed nearly all my apple seedlings.

This is a whole slew of small projects cumulative in one garden box at their conclusion. The goal of the Edible Flower Garden is just that: a salad box of flowers. Last year I grew Violas, Nasturtiums, Dianthus, Lemon Grass, and Pineapple Sage. This year will probably be similar. Feel free to make recommendations! (No Lavender, I am allergic.)

Goal: Grow (some) flowers from seed for the Edible Flower Garden.
Have them planted by Late March/Early May
Eat more flowers
~ Current Flowers and where I will probably get them:

♦ Nasturtiums (Grow)

♦ Pansy (Grow)
♦ Viola (there's probably a volunteer in the garden. Just gotta find it.)

Possible Complications: I am bad with seedlings. My Pansy seeds are quite old and their viability is in question.

~ Profit! Asian pears are absolutely amazing.

Possible Complications: This is a potted tree. Watering is essential. Attempt to check for becoming root bound.

Having worked in a tree nursery, this doesn't necessarily mean life or death by itself. It may just need a bit more grow time to push off the coat. However, if it lacks vigor, the cotyledons can rot within the coat, destroying the seedling. Currently it's too fragile, and its condition too uncertain, so I hesitate to manually free it. I will attempt the task if I think it more possible at a later date. You get to guess if this Seedling will [b]Live[/b], or [b]Die[/b]. Winner will be drawn from among the correct answers. I believe that the empty pot will SPROUT and the seedling will LIVE also, can i suggest bee balm and orange day lilies for additional edible flowers? both are perennials, so if you have some outdoor space once theyre established you wont have to do anything else with them. Bee balm, you only eat the petals, but they're kinda minty and sweet. Day lilies, you can eat the petals and the reproductive bits too. the pollen is spicy, the petals give a satisfying crunch, and the drop of nectar at the base of the flower is sweet. [/quote] @Eskris Great question, one per raffle. So you can enter all raffles available, but only one entry per raffle! I've gone back to try and clarify my wording on that. I'm a notorious seedling killer, so we're in the same boat. Some of my plants live good lives, others die unexplainable deaths. Hey, my baby Wicksonkin got a sponsor! I'm like 90% sure it made the winter, I'll be shocked if it didn't. Wickson generated my interest in apple trees, so getting a [s]weird[/s] child of one was fun for me. Of it's known lineage there's a lot of complexity in it's background. I bought the seeds from an experimental citizen orchardist in California, but between having about a 38% germination rate for my small planting last year, the very hot summer, and then all but one of the trees being killed by pests, the poor twig is struggling to make it's 1 year sproutday. I'm more familiar with the poisonous properties of regular lilies and had no idea day lilies could be nibbled. I might even have some around here still [s]pretty sure they're orange. Lousy gardener I am, can't even remember what color flowers are out in the yard[/s] Gotta go check the pot yard. There's probably a few lurking out there amid the tangle of thyme, mint, and sedum. They might do okay in the Edible Garden space. /schemes There's a number of flowers out there that are a "petals only" advisory for eating. Very interesting how nature can segment off like that and make one part of a plant totally poisonous, and other parts totally safe.
