I learned that there are so many different possibilities for dragons, it's really ridiculous. And that I have good luck with Coliseum(I got something like really, really rare after like 1-2 hours. I was just trying to get Familiars). And that I really love stars:D. And that there are A LOT of really nice people here:3.I would like to enter!

(The rare item was a Veilspun Gene. And I got a Banescale one 1 hour of Grinding later)

Hi I just joined this morning, I guess if anything I would like to ask how to gain more dragons outside of asking people for dragons and that I learned that I could get the geodes for the latest event slowly through playing through the colosseum. Could definitely use some help to get started in general.

[*][b]Selling Dragons or Items on the Auction House[/b] - You can also use the aforementioned Auction House to sell items and dragons for other players to buy! LEt me go grab the full breakdown of Ancient Dragons for you! [b]Q: What are Ancient breeds? How do they work?[/b] Here on Flight Rising, there's a distinction between [b]Modern Breeds[/b] and [b]Ancient Breeds[/b], most specifically when it comes to breeding your dragons, but also with things like genes and apparel. First off, [b]Modern Breed[/b] dragons make up the majority of the dragon breeds here. There are est. 14 modern breeds. Your starter pair of dragons are modern dragons, for example. They are capable of wearing apparel, and can breed with any other modern type dragon, even if they aren't the same breed. (Ex. Fae can breed with Coatl, Mirror with Snapper, etc.) You can find specifics about the modern breeds [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/wiki/wiki][u]here, under Dragon Breeds[/u][/url]. All besides Banescale and Gaoler are modern breeds. [b]Ancient Breed[/b] dragons are different in that they [i]cannot breed with any other breed of dragon, even with other ancient breeds[/i]. They can only breed with others of the same kind. (Ex. Banescales can only breed with Banescales, Gaolers only with Gaolers) Ancient breed dragons [i]cannot wear apparel[/i], but they can have skins or accents to help with more customization. There are currently only [3] ancient breeds. Gaoler, Veilspun, and Banescale. [More are being worked on over time.] Ancient Breeds also have genes that are specific only to them. Although there are a couple genes that are[i] similar[/i] to the modern breed genes, they are different. You can find more specific information [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/wiki/wiki][u]here, under Dragon Breeds[/u][/url]. [b]Q: Why can't they wear apparel? Why do they have breed specific genes?[/b] The modern genes can apply to all modern dragon breeds, which means the artists had to set up the genes and draw them out to fit each pose for both genders for all [14] modern breeds (i think i counted right). Plus the hatchling versions for each breed. Everytime theres a new gene for the moderns released, they basically have to do that. That's alot of work. It's the same kind of thing with Apparel too, which is why ancients dont/cant wear apparel. The ancient dragons were sort of meant to be a way for the devs to release new dragons to the site, without needing the extensive work. (although they do have a lore reason as well, I just don't remember rn) So each Ancient breed has genes that only apply to them, because its easier to only have to do a male and female version, and then hatchlings for the genes. The ancient dragons are also more unconventional dragons, like the banescales only have 2 legs whereas most of the modren breeds have 4. That factors into the genes as well. The ancients do have some of their own versions of the moden genes, just reworked to fit them. Example is Ghost, which is a modern gene but also has specific Banescale and Gaoler versions as well. If you see a gene scroll or something in the auction house that says, for example, Primary Gene: Candycane [u](Banescale)[/u], then that means the gene is specific to that breed only. So our example would only be able to be applied to Banescales. This only happens with Ancient dragons. [b]The TL;DR to all of that is: No. Ancient dragons can only bread with dragons of the same breed as them. I.e Veilspuns can only breed with Veilspuns, Gaolers only with Gaolers.
