First Year Students

You look in awe around at the train station... Well specifically the small area where people seem to be walking through a brick wall. At first you were curious about the mythical 'Platform 9 and 3/4' but now you get it. You clutch your mother's hand and walk through the wall. There is a train inside, the train you will be taking to Hogwarts. The tears well up in your eyes as your parents hug you. "Don't worry, all the great wizards went to Hogwarts. I'm sure most of them were nervous the first time they got on that train." your dad says with a laugh. You laugh nervously with him. Your luggage was taken off elsewhere and the train whistle starts to blow. You run to get on the train and get into the nearest compartment. You look out the window to find your parents waving at you as the train moves out of the station. With a sigh, you sit back in a seat. Hogwarts, here I come!

Information

-This story takes place during a time before Harry and after the marauders.
-There is no over arching plot, just the daily lives of Hogwarts students.
-Houses will not be chosen by you, they will be based off your characters personality or randomized if the character fits multiple houses. Please don't complain about what house your character gets into, if your character really doesn't want to be in a certain house it can say so while the hat is sorting it but the hat will not place them into a specific house.
-Characters will age over time (I'm not 100% sure but I think every 2 months is a year up)
-Two character limit. This does not include teachers (Because we need a bunch of them)
-There are twenty student slots. Five for each house.
-There will be activity checks once a month. This only requires a response to an activity check post (For example the Activity Check post might say 'Activity Check! Ping me with the word 'Magical')
-Extra activities such as quidditch and prefect/head boy and girl will be unlocked later on as the story progresses
-If you are talking out of character use brackets sich as [ , ] or (( , ))
-Four paragraph maximum, one paragraph minimum

-We don't want Mary-Sue characters! If your character can do the most powerful spell in the universe or killed their entire family, this counts as a Mary-Sue! If you want an angsty background, there must be a very good reason for it.

1.A private note from me addressing the problem (if the problem continues)

Merry is a tall, slim, rather wiry figure, whose abundant amounts of hair and striking eyes are easy to pick out among a crowd. She inherited her dark skin from her mother, who was a young Egyptian witch practicing and learning ancient arts of healing at the Cairo magical hospital. Her parents had met in Egypt, while her (much lighter-skinned) father was visiting on an academic research trip. From her father's Scottish genes she received very pale grey eyes, and their rounded almond shape from her mother's. Her hair is thick, extremely curly, and black as pitch - it bounces around her head at an even radius of about a foot, except for the left side, which is pinned to her scalp in tight cornrows. This does make her look rather lopsided, but she enjoys it: She feels it adds to her whimsical aesthetic.

For clothing she is often reminded to stick to more appropriate dress code - not that anything she's wearing is revealing, just slightly unprofessional. Examples include massive knitted sweaters over her uniform skirt; as well as sneakers, boots, or really any comfortable footwear. She's also been known on very early class days, or during testing weeks, to wear pairs of sweatpants around three sizes too large for her frame.

Merry also has an identical twin brother, Emmet. They are almost perfect copies with the exception of their frames and bone structures, due to the obvious gender difference.

Personality:

Merry's mood has the tendency to fluctuate somewhat throughout the course of a day. It remains within two spectrums, however: Her happier mood, which tends to manifest in a calmer demeanor and more humorous conversations; and her angrier, darker one, wherein she resorts to a short temper and quietly irritated sarcasm. She has managed to keep this somewhat under control around her teachers, creating an image of herself as 'an excellent, likeable student'. Around her friends and dorm-mates, she shows a lot more of her mischievous side, as well as her disdain for those she deems too simple to carry on a decent conversation with.

That is where her more negative personality traits arise. While she doesn't necessarily look down on others based solely on their intelligence, she does subconsciously form prejudices towards students not as academically inclined as she. This does not extend, however, to being prejudiced based on blood type: She knows full well the struggle of growing up in an environment where your physical attributes clash so much with your talents that others judge you on it. Between her skin and her accent, she received plenty of negative attention in that aspect as a child.

Alcyone is not one for talking, she's much too shy for the socialization of students. She is often found hiding in a corner, watching the others from a safe distance, but she wishes to join but finds she can't get the courage to. However, she is a sweetheart and much too determined once she has an idea, and will topple even the more intimating people to get to her goal. ~~Not really, she'd be too intimated too Hurhurhur.~~

Appearance: Natalie is an exceptionally basic looking girl with long straight brown hair and grey eyes. She has very round cheeks when she smiles and a heart shaped face. Her build is average and stands at 5'2'' though she hopes to grow as she ages. She wears very plain colors and doesn't draw much attention to herself unless necessary.

Personality: Natalie is quiet by nature and keeps to herself for the most part. She is not antisocial by any means, she just doesn't go out looking for friends on her own. Like her wand, she is picky about who she chooses to be a friend to however once the connection is made she is loyal to them. Her brain is most important to her and is justly proven by her seriousness about school and learning. She does not shove her knowledge into other peoples faces, but instead keeps it to herself unless called upon in class. Her favorite class is Transfiguration as it requires a large amount of focus and intent. When she makes a friend, she opens up more to them however she is content to be on her own if she must. She is very self-possessed.

History: Natalie was born into a normal white middle-class home in the city of Nashville, Tennessee. Being Muggle-Born, her family was completely oblivious to the magic that course through their daughters blood. As Natalie's skills began developing she was confused about her abilities however wasn't stupid enough to think she should share it with the world. When a wizard came knocking on her door with the information about her witching capabilities, Natalie finally understood what she was. Being the top of her class at her school, it didn't take her long to decide to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in order to get the best education available to her. Although she would be far away from her home, the distance is worth the chance of a lifetime. Leaving behind her younger brother and two loving parents, Natalie goes off to a school she knows nothing about with only a bag and an ermine for company.
