Character Creation Rules and Guidelines

You are allowed to play either as a pair of Dragon-Captain or you can pair your characters, (dragon or captain), to others', so long as you can reach an agreement.

You are also allowed to make as many characters as you like, however at the start it is preferable the number of characters created by the same person to be limited at two per nations.

If you want a Dragon-Captain pair that is solely played by you, they will only count as one ‘character slot’ (even though they are two) and you will be allowed to make another Dragon-Captain pair or create one Captain for another person’s dragon and vice-versa.

If you wish to, you can also play as a Feral dragon or as a lower-ranking officer who doesn’t have his or her own dragon yet and is instead assigned to another player’s dragon’s crew.

Concerning dragon breeds

Breed limitation
Not all breeds will be available to play. Some will be but in small numbers. This shouldn’t be too surprising since some dragon breeds in-universe are only found in very specific regions of the world or are simply very rare. For this roleplay there will be two types of breed limitation. The first are “Globally limited breeds”, which means the breeds listed will be limited in numbers across all the nations and formations of this roleplay. This list will mostly include foreign dragon breeds who are rarely found in service in one of the currently playable European nation. The second type of limitation is by formation, which basically means that certain breeds will only be available in low numbers within a formation, but will still be playable should a new formation is created.
The list below will include the dragon breeds that are considered to be limited either globally or by formation and will include the number available in (*).

Globally limited breeds
Celestial (0)
Other non-European dragons (0 at the start, unless you propose something that makes sense)
Kazilik (2)

Limited breed within a formations
Longwing (1 per formation)
Flamme-de-Gloire (1 per formation)
Regal Copper (1 per formation)
Grand Chevalier (1 per formation)
Petit Chevalier (2 per formation)
Chanson-de-Guerre (2 per formation)
Chequered Nettle (2 per formation)
Défendeur-Brave (2 per formation)

Creating your own dragon breed
As some nations have a rather underwhelming number of dragon breeds (Primarily Prussia and Austria), players are allowed to create their own dragon breeds. However, please do not make those custom breeds overpowered.

When creating a breed, please provide the information about your custom breed in this form and send that form to me in a PM.

British Aerial Corps
Humans

Full name: Kelsey Evans
Nicknames: Kelse(kels), Kel, Ev and Kelly
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Date of Birth: June 27th, 1780
National Loyalty: Britain
Nationality: Irish-British
Rank: Captain
Height: 161cm
Weight: 59kg

Paired with: Caelum the Xenica

Known languages: Can speak read and write in english, can read basic Latin, understands basic French.
Appearance: Flowing natural red hair that reaches below her shoulders but most often seen in a tight bun to draw suspiscion away from her gender. She has a sharper nose than most however still has the curve on the bridge of it with freckles dotting her cheeks and along the curve of her nose and forehead. Kelsey's eyes are dark brown while her skin pigment is quite light. Kelse feels most comfortable in her uniform for she feels honour in wearing it around the Aerial Corps bases.
Personality: Indulges herself in her career yet has hobbies outside of work also. She gets long with most in the British Aerial Corps but has a stict personality coming from such a family. Kelse enjoys lone flights with her dragon companion Caelum however, as the two practice communication and skills outside of wars and conflicts.
Bio: Her Father coming from Generations in the Aerial Corps, Kelsey has been expected to rise herself to her own fame being that she is the only child her father had. Almost 26 years ago, he had lost his own dragon in conflict where he was sent on leave to relax from the trauma; which was also when he had spent the night with an Irish woman.

Many years later his 'illegitimate daughter' was traced to him which he was surprised to believe he had a child; her biological mother had disappeared and was found homeless. Evans took his true daughter in and sent her into the Aerial Corps once she was of age. Decades later, Kelly does her best to rise to fame and please her father's high expectations, rising to rank of Captain in 1801 when a Xenica Dragon hatched and accepted her as his Human.

Full name: Lieutenant. Scott Louis Hughes
Nicknames: Capp'a or Cappa, due to his accent when asking for tea (Cuppa tea)
Gender: Male
Age: 42
Date of Birth: April 13th, 1763
National Loyalty: Britain
Nationality: British
Rank: Lieutenant
Height:[/u] 168cm
Weight: 74kg

Paired with: N/A

Known languages: English is his first language (read, write speaks) however knows little German speaking.
Appearance:
Personality: A friendly (and shockingly immature for his age) middle-aged man, who is happy with his current rank and position in the Aerial Corps. Having never been determined to become a Dragon's Captain (with the comparison responsibility of taking care of a child or family member) was not something he believed he would succeed in. He is well know for his delicate tastes in tea and brightening a dull and depressing mood during times of loss, which makes him a valuable part of his crew.
Bio:

Dragons

Full name: Caelum
Nicknames: Cae (KAY) and Cael (KAY-l)
Gender: Male
Age: 4
Date of Hatching: January 13th, 1801
National Loyalty: Britain
Breed: Xenica
Length: 12 metres
Wingspan: 9 metres
Weight: 10 tonnes
Weightclass: Heavy Lightweight

Paired with: Cpt. Kelsey Evans

Appearance: Of a firey-maroon colour with black and dark orange markings along the wings and front legs. He has thick yet short horns and small needle like chin spikes.
Personality: Mostly silent but occasionally speaks up only when needed. Very devoted to Kelsey and often follows her orders or 'suggestions'; occasionally replying with more advice in the situation through a dragon's eyes. He believes he does not require friends and acts mostly of the loner type, giving Kelsey space whenever she needs it but of course still very protective of her.
Bio: Once Kelsey had become Captain and assigned an egg, it took only a matter of weeks for the egg to finally hatch and reveal the Xenica hatchling, Caelum. Kelsey read his personality with ease once it sat up perfectly before her moments later and accepted her. They currently experiment and work on a method of communicating in Flight without verbal communication.

Empire Français
Human
Username: @Chance
Full name: Nathalie Abel
Nickanmes: Nat (friendly), Frenchie (unfriendly)
Gender: Female
Age: 26 Years
Date of Birth: March 14th
National Loyalty: France
Nationality: Italian X French
Rank: Captain
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 145lbs
Paired with: Chrysos
Known languages: French (read, write, speak), English (is learning, knows basics of speech), Italian (speaks little)
Appearance: Nat takes more from her mother. With dirty blonde curls that have since been bleached by the sun and a rounder shape. Her skin is tan, but losing its color from being inside more. Freckles dust over her cheeks and nose lightly. Her eyes are blue, a gift from her father, as well as her straight nose and resting face, which usually looks like she's brooding or upset. Hardly the case, she's usually quite content and laid back.
Personality: Nat isn't judgmental, preferring to look at the world in both an offensive and defensive way. Hating a nation is easy, but hating each individual is beneath her. Taking risks is not something she does lightly, nor sacrificing lives. She comes off as indifferent and a soldier, but is actually quite friendly. Learning is a favorite pass time, along with hearing stories of other places. Courage is what got her here and she likes to stay that way, prefer honesty and truth to modesty.
Bio: Born into the navy it seemed like she'd never have gotten off the transport ships. When the age came that she could join the corps, she jumped off that boat to dry land immediately. Hard working and taking any job she could get, Nat rose through the ranks with the occasional draw back as usual. Being paired with a dragon had been a life long dream, but the methods she'd gone through to get a dragon left her hurrying for each hatching. She'd been in four hatchings thus far, each new born taking another Captain for one reason or another. Not having a dragon meant she couldn't get off the rock and into the air. It'd been a wonder she'd been allowed in on the next hatching, she believes it was to pacify her. She stood in that room with others who'd been in battles much more heavy and severe than she'd think, but each in a position of greater standing then her own. Guess they didn't think the little Flamme-de Gloire would chose her.

Username: @Chance
Full name: Chrysos
Nickanmes: Rayures ("Stripes")
Gender: Male
Age: 10 Years
Date of Hatching: July 23rd
National Loyalty: France
Breed: Flamme-de Gloire
Weight: 17tons
Weightclass: Middleweight
Paired with: Nathalie Abel
Appearance: The classic Flamme-de Gloire, Chrysos is black with the traditional golden markings that drape across his spine and edge the wing membrane. His horns are wide and curled towards his jaws. With a large barrel chest and wide jaws on top of a thick neck, suited to the fire breather he is. He's stalky and strong, with his middle and tail taking up most of his body length.
Personality: Very pushy and bossy, Chrysos is not known for his subtlety often. His bonded, himself, fleet members, and then Nat's officers are put first. In that order, regardless of any situation. Nat is the one he listens to and lets boss him around. France sees him as 'delicate,' something that can't be spared. He's usually kept in the coverts unless a squad of Papillon-Noir. Chrysos loves when people present gifts, of any nature - the most frequent polished rocks or small jewelry Nat can wear.
Bio: Hatching in the military compounds had proved to be dull, he'd gotten his Captain Nathalie simply because she was practically glaring at him. A fire to match his own? Hardly. She keeps him in check, through all the troop trainings and flags. Even when he hatched and received his harness, Chrysos had been expected to sit and wait patiently. Nat had been kind to feed him right off the bat then let him outside in the sun. Those simple gestures earn her a wide range of respect in his book. To the point, yet takes pleasure in the small things.

Weight: 19tons
Weightclass: Heavy
Paired with: (Is Open to another player)
Appearance: A traditional Parnassian, with a creamy white body, starting from the wide jaws to the tail is a black coloring along the spine which drapes down into speckling, the same goes for the paws and legs, the membrane between the wing fingers is black along the outer edges with larger spots along the bone, a very dark red is lightly dusted between the speckles of the wings and jaws, but is hardly seen unless in a bright setting. His eyes are also the same dark red. Unusually large jaws and claws, has two black horns angled back towards the wings above the eyes.
Personality: Arran is a soldier - hard faced, hard won, and stubborn. Dutiful, loyal, and standoffish. If gotten alone and some place he's comfortable, he's very gentle and careful of others despite his size. He's got scars across his flanks and limbs, from where he'd latched onto other dragons and the riders had tried to cut him off.
Bio: Hatched to Jonathon Wells in the British Corps, Arran spent the first seventeen years of his life fighting and training. Living in the converts was all he knew, all he cared to know. His assigned formation was family, those around him friends. During the beginning of the wars, it'd turned ugly. In one of the battles he'd lost his Aviator, which sent him into a down spiral of chaos. Turned hard by the loss of his friend, Arran had sought seclusion where possible within the breeding grounds. He's been out of the game for nearly four years, but is seeking another Captain through the traditional means of being exposed to different people occasionally.

Carolus Rex
Full name: Marc-Antoine d'Auxerre
Nicknames: Marc, d'Auxerre, Dauxerre or Doxerre.
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Date of Birth: 5 December, 1777
National Loyalty: Empire Français
Nationality: French
Rank: Captain (Lieutenant if I can’t find partners)
Height: 179cm
Weight: 77kg

Paired with:Acerbus (@ToxicE)

Known languages: French (first language), Latin (Basic knowledge), rudimentary English (speak, read, write) and German (speaking only).

Appearance: Marc-Antoine definitely have the looks of the ‘de Venasque’ family, with short auburn hair and a finely trimmed beard that outlines his strong jawline. His eyebrows are a tad darker than the rest of his auburn hair and the tip angles downwards slightly, highlighting his dark green eyes and giving him a rather serious expression most of the time. Lastly, he has a slightly hooked nose and lips that could be considered somewhat thin. Fairly tall and broad shouldered, he fits in his aviator uniform, which he takes great care of whenever possible, just like the rest of his appearance.

Personality: Although on the outside he may appear distant and formal, perhaps even severe, on the outside, Marc-Antoine can actually be quite agreeable, humorous even. As a young man of noble birth serving during the Revolution, he always felt the need to prove his worth to those of more humble origins, to prove he wasn’t where he was due to his rank. Something that is perhaps silly in retrospect, considering how advancement works in the Armée de l’Air, but something that nonetheless made him determined to always do his best and lead by example. On a perhaps more negative note however, he often took more risks than it was necessary when he was a lieutenant, and became impulsive, or rash, when it comes to taking decisions nowadays.

Bio: Marc-Antoine was born on 5 December 1777 into a family of minor nobility from Provence. His father was a decorated officer of the French Army and his mother a lady of minor nobility. Despite his aristocratic origins, his family wasn’t particularly rich and they lived in a small manse not all that far from a covert. Although his father had already arranged for him and his two older brothers to join a military academy so that they may become officers in the future, growing up so close to a covert made him inclined to become an aviator instead. This didn’t please his parents and it was against their wishes that he joined a covert at the age of eight, only a few months before the Revolution broke out.

Although he was too young to fully understand all the implications of the Revolution during his first years at the covert, his instructors were quick to embrace the ideals of the Revolution and so was he. He remained safe throughout even the reign of terror despite his noble blood thanks to the isolation of the covert and aviators in general.

He became Lieutenant in the beginning of the Second War of the Coalition and performed well, though he was noted by his captain as too reckless, especially when it came to boarding actions. He was actually captured while boarding another dragon during a skirmish against the British and became a Prisoner of War in 1801.

Fortunately, as an officer he was liberated on parole and spent his time in a small town with relative freedom. This is actually where he learned his few notions of English. He was allowed to return to France with the Peace of Amiens 1802 and of course rejoined the Armée de l’Air. One year later, just as Great Britain and France found themselves at War again, he was offered the opportunity to hatch a dragon egg…

French Character(s)

ToxicE
Full name: Acerbus
Nicknames: <= (Nicknames of your character, if they have any)
Gender: Male
Age: 2 yrs
Date of Hatching: June 18, 1803
National Loyalty: France
Breed: Fleur-de-Nuit
Weight: 18 tons
Weightclass: Heavyweight

Paired with: Marc-Antoine de Venasque (played by CarolusRex)

Appearance: Acerbus is a deep midnight blue that usually looks black in most lighting, as he seems to have an iridescent quality to his scales that are often compared to that of a Raven or corvid. Much to his indignation. Like all of his species he has the signature milk-y eyes. The horns on the back of his head are short, segmented and brunt and a coal-black in color.
Personality: Acerbus is a bit vain, not overly so, but enough for someone in passing to make a comment about it. At times he can be a bit childish, sometimes even refusing to continue talking to someone once he deems the conversation over.
Bio: Acerbus was a by-product of a Fleur-de-Nuit breeding project, and as such is a bit more immune to sudden bright flashes of light, and daylight. It still affects him, just not as much. Other than that there isn’t much else to say.

Alright, here's my giant wall of text.

Placeholder: Carnifex
Full name: Evangeline Cassidy
Nicknames: Evan, "Little Hellcat"
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Date of Birth: October 9th, 1790
National Loyalty: Britain
Nationality: British X Irish
Rank: (Junior) Captain
Height: Roughly 65ish inches, about 5'6 ft
Weight: 125 lbs, about 57 kg
Paired with: Cyriaca the Parnassian

Known languages: English (Written/Spoken), in theory can read some French

Appearance: Tall for her age and rather lithe and lanky, Evan often is mistaken for a teenage boy at first. Her skin is pale and often sunburnt, and she has ginger hair that is cut short and rather messily, and a terrifying amount of freckles all along her face, shoulders, arms, legs--all over her body really. Her eyes are a bright, clear grey. She has a standard captain's uniform, even if it looks a bit big on her. Around her neck she wears an old strip of leather from sort of harness. It's her prized possession and she calls it her good luck charm. Woe be onto the person who tries to yoink it from her.

Personality: "Little Hellcat" is a fitting nickname for Evan, considering her passionate and fiery nature. She's cunning and ambitious, eager to prove her worth as Cyriaca's captain and prove everyone wrong about her. Treat her with respect though and you'll have a fast friend. She's protective and loyal to those she cares about--even if she shows it through teasing and mischievous pranks--and will fight tooth and nail for someone she cares about. Her fierce determined nature means once she sets her mind on something she won't be turned from it.

Bio: Born to an Irish father and a British mother, both members of the Corps, Evan's mother was 23 and already a few years in harness when she had Evan. It was unsurprising that Evan grew up around dragons, when she was 11 she was assigned to a different dragon and their crew, though her fate would always be with her mother's young dragon, Cyriaca. After all, dragons often outlived their captains, and switching was easier when the captain's child took over.

But when she was told one day that Cyriaca's formation had nearly been lost, everything changed. Her mother, Cyriaca's captain, and her father, part of the crew, both died along with much of the Parnassian's formation. Cyriaca herself barely made it back with a skeleton crew. Desperate to keep their heavy-weights, Evan was thrown into harness despite her young age and lack of experience, the Corps relying on Cyriaca's easy temperament, experience, and wiser crew members to take care of the young captain. Regardless, she's been sent for training so Cyriaca may practice among a new formation and Evan can learn the tricks of the trade.

Placeholder Carnifex
Full name: Cyriaca
Nicknames: Cyri
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Date of Hatching: 1/13/1788
National Loyalty: Britain
Breed: Parnassian
Weight: Roughly 19 tonnes
Weightclass: Heavyweight though barely

Paired with: Evangeline Cassidy

Appearance: Cyri is pale like many of her species. A dark stripe runs down her back, with dark striping on her sides. Her paws are also jet black, as is the tip of her muzzle. Her wing membrane is also tipped in black, though it has crimson spots along the membrane, and she has another darker stripe closer to the joint. Her eyes are a bright red.

Personality: Cyri is as much a handful as her captain. She's quite possessive of her, perhaps even more so than the typical dragon after losing her old captain, and between that and Evan's habit of picking fights, they're rapidly getting a reputation of being hard to handle. Despite that though, Cyri has far more loyalty and obedience instilled in her, and more battle experience. She has more patience and while she can be a bit reckless, she does do more thinking than Evan does and having more experience, isn't afraid to challenge her captain's ideas if she thinks that her strategy is better. The two of them trust each other enough that if Cyri says to do something instead, Evan goes with it.

Bio: Hatched for Evan's mother shortly before Evan herself was born, Cyri was quick to adapt into formation fighting and served as a heavy weight to bolster formations. She fought in several battles until a recent skirmish when south very fast. Her entire formation was more or less decimated, most of her crew was killed as well, including her captain. Only a stroke of luck and furious insisting from her skeleton crew on her back got Cyriaca back to England, where she wallowed for several days until she met Evan. Evan took after her mother, and Cyri approved of the young, untested girl, allowing her into harness. (There have been handful of attempts by others to coax Cyri to more trained captains, but most of the time it ends with someone in the infirmary and a very angry Parnassian. She's claimed Evan and no one will take her).
