The glaring sun shone on the rooftops of a large building, showing clear signs of abandonment and poor cleaning, even on the exterior. The windows were covered in cobwebs, and ivy had begun to crawl upon the edges and crevices of the wooden walls. The driveway and street in front of it was dusty and coated thickly in dirt and sand, so that anyone who walked on it would surely be greeted with puffs of it in their face.

A lone demon stood before its doors, squinting against the bright sunlight. "Well." She said simply. "No wonder it was so cheap." Sighing, she dragged her small blue suitcase, and reluctantly herself, inside. Every other resident who was to live here should have arrived around now. Looking at how the only footprints on the dusty driveway were hers, her expectations were obviously too farfetched.

Indoors, the blinds were shut; causing the large room to be considerably grey and dark; the only source of light were the bits of sunlight, peering through in between the shades. Ruciel caught her foot on a cobweb on the floor. Grunting in disgust, she managed to reach for the light switch, causing the yellow light on the ceiling to flicker on, though it flipped off on its own every few seconds, only to come on again. "At least some furniture remains." She muttered to herself, still unimpressed, as she stared at the large table standing proudly on the tile floors. It seemed to made out of mahogany, or some other expensive wood, but it was so coated with grey clusters of dust it was nearly impossible to tell. "They'd better not be slackers. We'll need to work together to make this place somewhat presentable." Sitting down on one of the chairs surrounding the table and crossing her arms, she looked around.

There were stairs leading to the next floor (there were 3 in this building, if she recalled correctly, and a few doors as well, though she decided to wait for everyone else before fully exploring the building. A couch and somewhat moderate sized television could be seen a fair distance away, though they shared the same fate as the table she was currently sitting at. Sighing impatiently, she began to tap her foot on the floor impatiently, causing tapping sounds to echo around the room.

This was it.

This hellhole was the place he would be stuck at for the rest of his high school years. He couldn’t believe his eyes, he tugged at his sister jacket who glared at him. “Do you not see that I’m trying to drive?!” She hissed punching him and to soon place her hand back on the steering wheel. He only glared back to her annoyed gaze. "You said I was staying at a apartment complex! Not this pile of rundown sh*t!" He huffed at her, she ignored him pulling her car into the driveway, he stuck his tongue out at her. She rolled her eyes, turning the car off and removing her seat-belt.

"Look, I know this isn't what you wanted but we don't have a lot of many right Rey, you know Pa works his *ss for you and me. This is all we could afford..." She sighed. Rey just looked down at the ground. After that little tidbit, his sister had to basically dragging him out of the car. "Could you make this any harder if you tired?!" She sneered. "Oh trust me, I can if you really want me to!" He argued back. Know finally out of the vehicle, she quickly slapped a pair of shades on him. "Know remember, under no circumstances should you ever remove theses." She said in a serious tone. He rolled his eyes. "I know Rachel, your quite frequent with reminding me of that daily." He spat.

"No I'm serious people can't know what you are, what we are." She whispered coldly, she would always reminding him of what they were, Cambion. Unnatural offspring from a demon and a human. Although most Cambion looked like normal humans, it was always there eyes that gave it away. His sister always was seen wearing beanies that seemed to be pulled a little to much over head, not to mention the unholy fringe she had grown, just in case.

Both had finally made near the entice, Rachel had been helping his younger brother with luggage, she would soon leave after this.

"Oh my god your not joking. Dude, this place sucks, you going to be stuck here for a long time." She snickered, he kicked her in the leg with a growl, it didnt even hurt. She then proceeded to pull yet agian into another place he didnt want to go.

They began to walk inside, there was dust everywhere and neither of them knew where they were meant to be going. "Oh your going to have "fun" here alright!" The young women joked. If looks could kill, she would've been dead from what face expression Rey was giving her.

Both teenagers eventually found themselves in a room, this time it actually had someone in it. Rachel basically through the luggage back at Rey to greet her. "YEAH-THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP, SIS!" He snared at her, sarcasm running through his words. She walked over to the other demon with a small grin.

"Hi! I'm guessing you another resident who's just moved here as I'm guessing? Well, I would like to introduce you to myself and my younger brother!" She smiled happily. "I'm Rachel, I wont be exactly staying here but you can call me if my brother is causing you any trouble. Speaking of which, hes the man-child over there!" She mocked pointing to the small boy drowning in suitcases, he just gave her the finger.

"Where kinda lost you see, unfortunately SOMEONE lost the papers and know we dont know where we have to go." She ranted eyeing her brother.

"Look, when Opal gets here I'll ask him for the room number, okay?" He bit back at her, rearranging his glasses. "It's not that idiot, look I'll just sought it out later for you okay?" She sighed.

Kit looked up at the building, wondering if she was really so desperate as to live in this place.Oh,well guess I don't have a choice now she thought. Shifting her bag on her shoulder she twisted her arm a bit as Niko tightened around her wrist. No doubt he was becoming startled by the new things, and from having been outside his cage for so long. She whispered slightly"Don't worry buddy,I'll get you back into your cage soon enough."Meanwhile Zulu had buried into Kit's hair inside her hoodie and was making slight squeaking sounds as she moved about in the hood. She sighed, and pulled on her sleeves, making sure nothing on her arm could be seen as she walked into the building.

Looking around she noticed it looked as though it hadn't been cleaned for a while. At least I know Zulu and Niko will able to chase mice and other things she thought. She started up some stairs wondering if she would be able to find her room on her own.

Ian Veritas drove into one of the apartment’s parking spaces, pulling his helmet off his head and turning off the engine. Kicking the kick stand up, he swung himself off the motorcycle, and waited till the familiar white truck pulled in beside him. His parents got out, and his mother rushed over to him and smoothed down his curls.

“Ian, you were going way too fast! Am I going to have to operate on you in the hospital one day?!” She chastised, and he rolled his eyes. His mom was a nurse practitioner working in the emergency trauma ICU, so she never stopped telling him motorcycle crash horror stories in hope that he’ll be more careful.

“Honey, he was only going ten miles over,” his dad called from the back of the truck, as he clicked the latch open to get to Ian’s luggage. “What you should be worried about is him joining a motorcycle gang.” Ian laughed and walked over to help his dad, his mom trailing behind him.

“You think I’m cool enough to join a gang, Dad?” Ian asked, flexing his (admittedly skinny) arm playfully. His dad ruffled his hair, a fond expression on his face. “Your skinny white butt? Heck no! I’m worried about you getting beat up trying to join a gang.” His mom and dad burst into laughter, and Ian stuck his tongue out at them.

“I’ll show you guys!” He joked, dramatically pointing a finger at them, “You’ll come up to visit and I’ll be covered in tattoos and setting things on fire! And I’ll have my own gang!”

“Does that make us honorary members?” His dad grinned, patting his mom on the shoulder. They both had matching flower tattoos on their back, an echo of their hippie days from the 80s. “Your father set something on fire at the college last week,” his mother chimed in with a wink, “so I think we’re qualified.”

“Nerdy science explosions don’t count!” Ian shouted, his mouth twitching up, “You’ll both never be cool enough for my gang!” He huffed melodramatically, tossing his hair and crossing his arms, and they all started laughing. He’ll miss joking around with his parents, he thought as he soaked in their happy faces, but he wanted his freedom and his new job more.

“Did my cats make the trip alright?” He asked once they settled down. Romeo was his skinny tabby and Juliet was his fluffy calico. They both hated car rides and were probably meowing the entire time... Yep, his mom had an irritated expression on her face.

“Two hours of Romeo screeching his head off, and Juliet doing her low throaty moan thing. You owe us big, buddy.” His mom poked him and shuddered. “I told your father we should have taken the ford! At least then they wouldn’t have been practically on my lap the whole time.”

“Honey, we’ve been over this. The couch and cat tree wouldn’t fit in the ford.” His dad clapped his hands, trying to get them back on track. “Okay, enough dilly dallying. Let’s get your stuff up to your room, son.” His started unloading one of the boxes, and Ian took one too, his cooking supplies by the sounds of metal clanking. His mom followed with a third, and they set off for the building entrance. “What floor are you at?” His dad asked as he juggled with the box to open the door.

“Room 203, I’m pretty sure. So we’ll need to go up a flight.” They entered the building, and Ian wrinkled his nose. It was dusty and dreary inside, the paint peeling off the wall. They past the lobby and found the stairs, which creaked painfully loud as they walked up them.

“Are you sure you don’t want to stay with us, Ian?” His mom’s voice echoed through the stair case, and he shook his head, then realized she couldn’t see him.

“It’s alright, ma,” Ian called, “My new job is 2 hours away from where you guys live, remember? That’s a bit much for a commute.” They entered the hallway, where a dim light illuminated spiderwebs on the wall. His mother sneezed.

“Yeah, don’t worry, honey. We’ve stayed at worse places than this during college.” Room 203 was close to the staircase, but the 2 had fallen off of the door. They all set down their boxes as Ian began rummaging through his pockets for the keys. “Don’t you remember the cockroaches?”

His mom groaned goodnaturedly. “Don’t remind me, Henry! And the random gunshots at night… Horrifying.” Ian pulled out his keys with a triumphant ‘Aha!’ and clicked it open. They pushed the boxes inside and Ian turned on the light. The apartment was one large room, with a bed shoved into the corner, a small table and two chairs next to the kitchenette, and two doors that probably led to the bathroom and closet. There was a window a couple feet from the bed, where the moth eaten curtains hung sadly.

“Okay, I’m glad you insisted on buying him a couch, Rue.” His dad walked over to the kitchenette, and turned on the faucet. With a whirring sound, it eventually pathetically coughed out some water, and he turned to them with a grin. “At least we know he won’t dehydrate!”

“How do you feel, Ian?” His mom asked, ignoring his father. She had concern written all over her face. Whenever something like this happened, her more ‘motherly’ side came out, and she treated him more like a child than an actual working adult. He couldn’t help but secretly enjoy it; his mother was an ambitious and busy woman, and he liked knowing she still cared so much about him. “You do know that your father and I could give you some money so you could rent a better apartment, right?”

Ian waved his hand, trying to dissuade her concern. “It’s alright mom, it’s cheap for the price and I’m trying to save up. Besides, it comes with wifi and allows pets, so I got all I need!” His mother squinted at him before nodding.

“Alright, Ian. Now come on, I think we have a couple more boxes to bring up and the cats, plus that God awful couch you boys insisted on buying.” His dad and him exchanged mischievous grins. They both loved neon colors, a never ending struggle his ever fashionable mother tried to fight against. The couch was a bright blue shade with light purple stripes, a ‘monstrosity’ to his mom but ‘charming’ to them.

They carried up the rest of the boxes, and his mom and dad made a separate trip for the couch. Ian tried to help, but they insisted that they do it alone, probably worried about his clumsiness and aptitude for dropping things. Their final trip was carrying up the cats, their litterbox, and the tall cat tree/scratching post. Romeo was meowing loudly at the commotion, but Juliet stayed silent, staring from inside the carrier. Ian cooed at them before opening the latch. They all watched as Juliet crawled under the couch and Romeo began to explore, sniffing the bed.

Once it finally came to say goodbye, his mother started fretting. “Are you sure you don’t want me to make your bed, dear?”

“Maaa, I’m 21, not ten before my first week of camp. I can handle that myself.” He crossed his arms defiantly, and his mom tsked at him.

“Oh, you’ll always be my little baby boy,” she said as she pinched his cheek, and he scrunched up his face at her. Bundling him up in a tight hug, she whispered, “I am so, so proud of you.” Ian started to tear up, and his dad came over from where he was adjusting the couch.

“Hey! Don’t start the goodbye hugs without me!” He exclaimed, and threw his arms around them both. Ian clung to them for a few seconds, breathing in their familiar scents, his mother's flowery perfumes and the tang of chemicals that his father never could get out of his shirts, before extracting himself from them gently.

“I'm going to miss you guys.” He admitted, staring at them wistfully.

“Yeah, well you never said that when you had to wash the dishes, huh, Ian?” His mom teased with a watery smile, brushing a loose curl away from his face.

“Besides, just call us with that… Uh… Faceclock thing!” His dad was overly excited about knowing the ‘new technology.’ He just upgraded his old blackberry that he had for years to an iphone, and he was valiantly trying to get the hang of it. And he was usually failing.

“FaceTime, dad.. Facetime.” Ian sighed. “And don't worry, I will.”

“Don't stay up too late playing video games.” His mother instructed, counting off on her fingers, “and make sure to wash the dishes, do your laundry, clean the litterbox, make-”

“I know, ma, I know!” Ian interrupted her, “Jeez, I’m not a child.”

“And call us if you need anything, Ian. Anything,” his mom said intensely, putting a hand on his shoulder and squeezing.

“Alright, next time I have to hide a dead body, I'll give you a ring.” His mom flicked his ear playfully, and he pushed her away with a laugh.

“Use thermite to corrode it, that’s some pretty powerful stuff!” His dad offered, putting an arm around Ian as they walked out of the apartment. Ian made sure to lock the door behind him before they went down the stairs. They talked softly about Ian's new job at the bakery, an assistant pastry chef, as they exited the building and walked over to the car.

“Love you, Ian. Stay safe,” his mom ordered as she pulled him in for a hug. His father joined in, and Ian was sandwiched in the middle of them. After a few seconds they untangled themselves, and his dad looked down at his watch.

“Shoot! We need to get going, honey, or else you’ll be late for your night shift." With a whirlwind of goodbyes and good lucks, his parents were gone, and he was standing alone in the parking lot. He let out a sigh and patted the back of his motorcycle. “I guess it’s just me, you, and the cats now, Vanessa.” Ian turned and walked back to the apartment building, whistling. Ian needed to track down his landlady to say hello and make sure everything was squared away, and then he could go back to his room and unpack.
Ian Veritas drove into one of the apartment’s parking spaces, pulling his helmet off his head and turning off the engine. Kicking the kick stand up, he swung himself off the motorcycle, and waited till the familiar white truck pulled in beside him.

It hadn't been too hard to find her new apartment, although Kit was slightly surprised when she found that the four on the door was hanging off crookedly,it looked more like the door sad"10h" rather that "104". Sighing softly she checked to make sure the key worked.Sure enough the door opened, rather noisily, but at least it opened.Looking around Kit decided that a lot of cleaning would be needed. She closed the door and set her bag and a small, crooked wooden table, and went to work on the place, using a few supplies that had been left in the closet and much of the things she had brought herself.

After nearly an hour it looked pretty decent, and Kit went back out to her old black Chevy truck to start grabbing what few boxes she brought.Guess I'll have to look into getting a couch and some other furniture later she thought. She had brought a mattress and her bed frame, which could easily be taken apart for moving, but was a pain to move around. She knew it would take her a while to drag the parts inside.

Before walking out for the first set of boxes she pulled Zulu from her hood,so she could get adjusted to their new home. She wasn't quite sure where Niko had went,he had crawled off her arm and was at one point laying in the middle of the counter when she had opened the window to let light in,but he had disappeared when she closed it to work in a different part of the apartment.Oh,well.Not like he can get out she thought as she closed the door behind her and went to start the long task of bringing up her bed frame.

The two got siblings themselves into a argument that had seemed to drag on for ten minutes at the least. Both completely ignoring the other demon in the room who didn't even manage to get a single word in at this point. It had gone from quite bickering to more or less, yelling. Really, violent yelling. Of course it wasnt like this was unusually for them, sometimes it lasted hours.

"THATS NOT HOW DIVIDING WORKS IDIOT, YOU CANT JUST TAKE A NUMBER LIKE THAT OFF." Rey fumed, ranting to her.

"I HAVE BEEN TO COLLEGE, I THINK I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING RUNT." She angrily replied.

'AND HOW DID YOU EVEN ACHIEVE THAT NUMBER IN THE FIRST PLACE? YOU'RE LIKE A WHOLE KNEW LEVEL OF STUPID! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT YOUR ONLY THREE YEARS OLDER THEN ME." He sneered.

"OH HAHAH, YOUR THINK YOUR A REAL TOUGH SH*T, DON'T YOU. YOU ARE SUCH A IGNORANT, ANNOYING LITTLE BRAT." She continued.

"OH CONGRAT-A-F*CKING-ATION YOU KNOW HOW TO POINT OUT OBVIOUS FLAWS THAT EVERY BLIND MAN AND HIS DOG CAN SEE. SOMEONE GIVE THIS WOMAN A GODDAMN METAL." He yelled, she made a growling sound at him.

Both seemed like they where going to rip each other a new one if something wasn't done.

A car pulled up in the parking lot next to an old and worn out residential building, pulling a U-Haul trailer behind. With a click, the car door opened and a girl stepped out, the light breeze tampering with her already messy hair. She paused to examine the apartment building, then reached for her phone and dialed a number.

"Hey dad, I got to the place," Lynn said.

"You have?" A voice replied, "That's great. Do you like it?"

"Well..." She continued, "I haven't seen the inside yet, but the outside looks rather... Different from the advertisement I saw."

"...You didn't check the place out before deciding you wanted it?"

"I did, just not in person."

The line went quiet for a moment. Lynn could imagine her father's face, furrowed brows and brimming with disappointment. He was probably face palming at the very moment.

"Um, I'll call you again later," Lynn said, breaking the silence, "I've got stuff to move in."

Without waiting for a response, Lynn ended the call and put away her phone. She let out a brief sigh when she looked back at the U-Haul trailer, thinking about all the furniture she'd have to carry up to her room. First, I should finish moving in my stuff, She thought, ...Then I've got my car to worry about. Her car had been making strange noises lately, and Lynn was worried that it would suddenly break down on her. But she's been putting off fixing it for quite some time now.

With a deep breath, Lynn decided to not procrastinate and be productive. She blindly felt around in her sweatpants' pockets, looking for her room keys, as she walked inside the building and into the elevator.

Ariadne, dressed in a thick scarf, a beanie and black aviators, approached the run down building. Her extra limbs were tucked under her hoodie and it was rather uncomfortable. She dragged her suitcase filled with most of her belongings behind her. The house she would make into her new home was really cheap, and it was near some of her favorite nighttime hangouts so she wouldn't really mind the state it was in.

The half-spider glanced towards the building in question. It was run down, that was for sure, but it wasn't as bad as some of the places she had stayed in in the past. In fact it was in the top half. That probably wasn't a good sign. Sighing, Ariadne walked up the steps and into the lobby where some people were arguing over something.

It wasn't her business what they were doing, but she hoped that they weren't too noisy. Some people had late nights and needed the extra sleep in the mornings. Ariadne walked down a hallway, stopping outside door number one zero eight. Opening the door with the key that arrived in her PO box.

The room inside wasn't as bad as she was expecting, and she quickly set to work making it her own. She locked the door behind her and set up a small hammock made of her webs, and threw her suitcase to the corner. Opening it up she got a set of black out curtains and put them up, covering the window. Can't have people seeing her extra parts.

She looked over once she was finished unpacking the rest of her stuff. She had set up her computer, and her yarns were by her hammock, and that was it. She didn't care for much worldly possessions. Leaving the room the way she came in, she might as well introduce herself to her new building mates.

She approached the two siblings, making sure her scarf and hat were secured over her face. "Hi! I'm Ariadne, you two are some of my new neighbors right?" She smiled, hoping they wouldn't notice her fangs. "I think I have a medal somewhere, but I'd have to look through my luggage to find the winners prize.
