Year One: The Story Begins
HOUSE POINTS:
Gryffindor: 15
Slytherin: -20
Ravenclaw: -20
Hufflepuff: -5
A thousand years or more ago
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of renown,
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
They shared a wish, a hope, a dream,
They hatched a daring plan
To educate young sorcerers
Thus Hogwarts School began.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues
In the ones they had to teach.
By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;
For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
Loved those of great ambition.
While still alive they did divide
Their favourites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When they were dead and gone?
'Twas Gryffindor who found the way,
He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!
Now slip me snug about your ears,
I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have a look inside your mind
And tell where you belong!
Seven years before the famous Harry Potter went to Hogwarts, you received a letter in your mail. Whether you were expecting this to happen or it caught you completely by surprise, the letter said you’d been invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! You have arrived at Platform 9 3/4 and are watching the Hogwarts Express roll into the station. Are you nervous? Excited? Somewhere in between? Either way, you know this is going to be one year to remember.
Hello! Welcome to Year One of Hogwarts. I am your Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore (under the clever guise of a young Ravenclaw girl named Relics), and I am here to guide you through a few rules of Hogwarts.
STUDENT RULES:
- Students shall not leave Hogwarts grounds.
- Students may leave with the Headmaster's permission, if collected by a parent or guardian. - On the first and third weekends of each month, Third through Seventh Years may visit Hogsmeade Village with a permission slip from the student's parent or guardian. Students are free to travel to Hogsmeade after classes on Friday (3:00 pm) until curfew (10:00 pm), when they are expected to be back in their dorms at Hogwarts. On Saturday and Sunday they may from after breakfast (8:00 am) until curfew (10:00 pm) on the same day.
- Visitors to Hogwarts must obtain permission from the Headmaster or Deputy Headmaster. This includes parents of students, and Ministry personnel.
- The only exceptions to this rule are members of the Hogwarts Board of Governors, who have free access to the school. - Students are forbidden from faculty areas. This includes the kitchen, faculty lounge, and offices, unless with the escort or written permission of a faculty member. This also includes classrooms when a class is not in session.
- Prefects may enter faculty areas if investigating another student violating this rule. - Students may not enter the common rooms or dormitories of houses other than their own. Each common room has a protective measure in place to restrict access. The Gryffindor Tower and Slytherin Dungeon require passwords. Ravenclaw Tower requires the answer to a riddle. The Hufflepuff Basement requires tapping a specific barrel in a particular rhythm. Attempts to bypass these protective measures by members of other houses are considered serious offences.
- Boys may not enter the girls' dormitories. Attempts to do so will trigger spells preventing it, such as a Slide Spell on the staircases in the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw rooms. The one exception to this is a male Prefect in an emergency.
For a full list of rules, please go here. Not by me.
RP RULES:
- Follow FR Rules, no godmodding, meta gaming, etc.
- If you wish to be a canon character, make sure that a) they fit in this timeline, and b) you will be active for them. This includes teachers.
- Don’t be a jerk OOC.
- Two Students max, unless you’re a Prefect.
- Note that prefects and teachers will be NPCs that anyone is free to use until someone claims them.
- Don’t complain about blood type (more on that later).
- Romance is allowed, but don’t go past kissing (and brief snogging).
- You must wait for two or three people to post after you before you post again, unless it’s midnight and everyone else is asleep. If you need to add to a post, instead of posting again immediately after it just edit your last post to edit it in.
- Can we avoid one-liners? They’re annoying and don’t give a lot of information. Basically a waste of my time to read.
- There is a possibility your character will die later on, keep that in mind.
Want to join? Do so here!
Wait - one more thing. To keep things fair, I will do a random generator to see what your blood type is. You can be a pureblood, half-blood, or muggleborn. There’s also a small chance you’ll be a werewolf, a metamorphmagus, a natural occlumens, a natural legilimens, or a natural parselmouth (non-stackable). I’ll tell you on this thread what you are... right then!
NO MORE FEMALE HUFFLEPUFF OR FEMALE RAVENCLAW. NO MORE MALE SLYTHERIN.
