Draconequis
(Done! Let me know if anything needs changing!)
Name: Jeremy Laythum
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual (Female preference)
Appearance:
Honesty, Jeremy isn't anything impressive when it comes to physique. Completely average in height at 5'9" and build, you wouldn't see him as a threatening figure. The man might be in shape, but it is more so the body type one would get from eating right and maybe going on the occasional jog. Not thin, per say, but definitely not muscular. As he spent much of his time indoors before the end of the world, he is pretty fair skinned. Not exactly pale, but you can tell that he only spent extended periods outside on occasion. No scars or blemishes mar his skin. Overall, his features are pretty attractive. Not like stunningly attractive like a model or movie star or anything like that, but normal person attractive. Enough to not make him standout too much but still enough to use it to his advantage. His hair is dirty blond and kept short, as he wanted to seem professional for his job. A pair of thin-framed glasses rest before his strangely bright, teal eyes.
Due to him being at his job when the world ended, Jeremy is still dressed as though he was at work. A blue collared, dress shirt with a tie, khaki pants, belt, and black formal shoes.
Abilities: Technopathy
Basically, he has the ability to telepathically communicate with machines as well as telekinetically manipulate them. The manipulation he is able to exert over the machines is limited to putting technology together or taking it apart. His abilities don't allow him to throw technology or anything of the sort. Parts and pieces of machines might move quickly around what he is building or deconstructing, but his abilities aren't capable of fighting on their own.
His telepathic links to machines is much like a telepathic link between two humans, as both can communicate through thoughts. However, machines have no will of their own and essentially are made to preform a function. So, Jeremy had complete control over what the machine he was connecting with would do. All he needs to do is command them.
Weaknesses:
As said above, his abilities cannot be directly used in combat. Nor is his body improved in any way nor particularly special, thus he is susceptible to damage and sickness like anyone else.
Personality:
Through years of practice, Jeremy has mastered the ability to appear as though he cares about others and take an interest in their lives. All the small talk and all the social obligations that he finds so dreadfully tedious have become almost second nature to him. He finds humans so inconceivably boring. So complacent and those that aren't think themselves superior to others simply because of their standing in their job when they are just like any other human. You might think that he finds machines more interesting, but you'd be wrong. They are equally as boring as humans, they just don't require any small talk when communicating. He excels at lying and covering for himself as well as manipulating situations to his advantage. No matter what he does, it is usually to serve his own interests or goals. Well, until he met Remnant. Now, I suppose you could say he works towards their goals.
Backstory:
Well, his life was fairly average for the most part. Parents who were always busy with their high-paying jobs, although he never really minded the lone time, and above average grades sent him to a great college. Majoring in data management and programming, Jeremy graduated a few years later. Although, it is impossible to tell how much his powers actually helped him through this. Of course, he doesn't have a problem using his natural advantages to his benefit. Whether he had some technological help or if it was on his own merit, it wasn't long before he had secured a government job involving his majors.
This was mainly because he felt like, with his abilities, that he could far more easily do what others can't and pose as a programming genius. It was just a way for him to secure a cushy, high-paying job where he basically had to do very little actual work. The real issue was all the small talk and having to pretend to like his coworkers. It was incredibly boring, but it gave him a secure income so he didn't have to worry about that, which suited him. Being able to communicate with any machine gave him the ability to look into some of the more...classified information and it gave him something to look into while he was wasting time.
But one day changed everything. While digging through classified documents, he found mention of a mysterious device. With his interest peaked, thinking that it might be something he could control, Jeremy decided that he had to be on the research team for it. By using his abilities, he managed to get himself on the team and into the secure vault-like containment facility where this mysterious piece of tech was being held. First impressions, it was one heck of a facility for one piece of technology, so whatever was in there must have been something powerful. The thought only spurred him onward. However, when he first caught sight of what was being studied, it was rather disappointing. A small, metallic blue object about the size and shape of an earplug with a red lens on the flat end. Jeremy had wondered if that was all there was to it, but if he was here, then he might as well check it out. It took a few days before he found time to go into the room it was being held in while he was alone.
As soon as he established a mental link with it, Jeremy was stunned. It was unlike anything he'd ever experienced before. It was...sentient. Not an AI but something that could actually think for itself. The presence he felt in his mind was wary, curious, and vaguely predatory. Nothing had ever captured his focus so much before. They began to converse every chance Jeremy had, speaking about all sorts of things. The device, that became known as Remnant, would ask about the world of humans and personal questions about him. Jeremy would ask questions about what it was, to which it mostly gave vague answers. Not because it was trying to be deceiving, but due to the fact that it didn't know. It knew that it was not developed by humans, it could take control any device it was physically connected to, and that its purpose had long since been completed. Potentially the strangest thing to happen because of their interactions, if the fact that the two were actually getting along famously.
When the disaster happened, at the behest of Remnant, Jeremy used his abilities to seal himself and Remnant inside the secure vault to preserve themselves from the near world-ending event. Once everything had settled down and after a slightly painful impromptu implantation of Remnant into the base of his neck, they decided the best course of action was to check out the location mentioned in the mysterious letter Jeremy had received. So they left the makeshift bunker to investigate.
Former Job: Cushy Government job involving programming and whatnot. He didn't really do the job, as his abilities allowed it to be done basically for him.
Other:
- Remnant has a voice that projects directly into Jeremy's mind. If you know Fallout, it sounds kind of like the Assaultrons from Fallout 4
