@PuppyLuvr06 ((I'm subbed by the way. We can think of a title if you want as well!))

Castor always knew there was something... Wrong with him. Since he was a child, he had been plagued with bad luck. Or perhaps good, depending on how you look at it. A childhood bully had fallen down the stairs and broke his neck. A car skidded off the road and crashed into a tree when he ran across the street without looking. And worse... Castor had made up some entity that justified it.

It's name was Lekra. It was not a name Castor had given it. In fact, there were times when reality and fantasy were so distorted that Castor couldn't say for certain that Lekra wasn't part of his imagination. But he was the only one who could see it, so he assumed that it was.

He always called Lekra 'it.' It only reinforced that he didn't think they were real.

He'd tried everything. Therapy had gone badly to say the least. Distorted identity, perhaps, said one. Hallucinations, said another. Whatever was up with him, nobody could agree on it. Castor had given up by the time he was sixteen and had instead spent every waking moment testing Lekra's limits. By being an absolute moron.

Like today.

Breakfast was still frying in the pan, bacon sizzling as Castor got out the bread and butter. He could sense when Lekra was around, but then, it felt that it was always around. He had even gotten into the habit of making two of everything, even though he wasn't even sure Lekra could eat. Worst case scenario, Castor figured, he'd make two and get to eat two.

"I have a good idea of what we should do today," he announced suddenly. Never a good comment out of this kid's mouth.

((I subbed as well ^^))

Lekra remembered when they met Castor. It didn’t take long for them to decide he needed to be protected through the dangers of the world. They’d even killed people they thought would try to harm him. So maybe it broke their morals a little but. If it meant keeping him safe, does it really matter?

They let out an amused sound, grinning. “Oh, really? Try me.”

Castor glanced over at Lekra, a proud, almost cheeky smirk on his face. "Let’s go on a treasure hunt," he announced cheerily. 'Treasure hunt' clearly not meaning what it was at all. He turned off the hob, putting the bacon onto the bread and moving to the table, offering one to Lekra. "That’s way better than going to boring old classes, anyway."

“Classes are the fundamentals of—“ Lekra stopped themself. “Oh, never mind. I’m assuming there’s a very small chance I’m convincing you out of this.”

They were honestly a bit amused at the option of breakfast. “I don’t need to eat, actually, but...thank you for the offer.” They hoped their smile wasn’t creepy-looking. It wasn’t like they particularly stared at a mirror and smiled at it very often.

“Where will we be headed? And, more importantly, where did you find this bit of information..?”

"Well... best not start that again," Castor decided to himself. He was about to say You're just a manifestation of me, and you want to do my suggestion anyway, but Lekra always seemed to say the right thing to make Castor doubt that they were just a figment of his imagination.

"More for me, then. And for the record, classes are stupid and you don’t like them either, even if you pretend to," he said, swiping up the second bacon roll without a thought. "I was thinking we could be the new Hercules. Go steal ourselves a Cerberus. I’ve always wanted a dog." He said it far too casually. "Unless you’re a chicken," he added, sticking out his tongue.

“I am, by no means, poultry,” Lekra mused bluntly. “And I won’t just leave you alone. So! I shall come with you. But I will let you know that I can and will kill the dog if it tries to kill you.” They assumed it sounded more like a ‘I want to steal all the fun’ rather than the ‘I want to keep you safe’ that they were intending.

They decided to test how much Castor had truly thought out about this. “How are you going to skip school without anyone noticing? It may take several days, you know.”

"What’s the point in you killing it?" Castor whined. "I wanna keep it!" It was definitely interpreted badly. "You always do this!" He stuffed the second roll into his mouth and glared at Lekra, thinking they wanted to ruin everything. As usual.

"Who cares if people notice?" he responded. "Come on, they’ll probably be glad I don’t turn up for a few days. I look like a lunatic, talking to you all the time."

“Let’s think of it this way: would you want to keep around a deathly poisonous creature around?” They paused, realizing a bit too late they probably shouldn’t be giving him any ideas. “And nothing’s stopping you from ignoring me, you know. Or running off into the bathroom to talk. It’s by your own means alone that you ‘look like a lunatic.’”

Lekra nodded, though much more to themself. “Well, then. Start packing up what you’ll need. Remember clothes, food, compass, flashlight...”

"Yes!" Castor said, sounding somewhat annoyed Lekra didn’t immediately think that he would want that. "You constantly talking to me makes it impossible to talk to you," he grumbled under his breath. "You’re driving me crazy. Or maybe you’re proof I am already." He looked over at the other when they started listing what was needed. "Yeah, yeah," he dismissed with a wave. "I know what I’ll need."

With that, he went to move towards the bedroom of the small flat. While not technically an adult yet, Castor had already moved out and had quite a nice, if very squashed, set up. He looked for his old camping supplies, knowing he’d shoved them into one cupboard or another.

Lekra stared off into the direction Castor went in. He sure was set on his views, wasn’t he? “It’s not my fault I like talking...” they muttered, frowning.

Loud enough for him to hear them, they remarked, “You don’t have to get me anything, if you were ever going to. I’ll be fine on my own. I can also find us things to eat if you’re okay with having to skin animals. They’ll be reasonable things like someone’s chickens, of course. There’s not a chance I’m trusting your cooking abilities with anything wild.”
