Quote:
Our protagonist character/s live in a relatively small town, where everyone more-or-less knows each other. One/multiple of the characters does something morally questionable (like stealing, killing, etc.) and their friend/s decide to accompany them on a journey that would prove that they didn’t do it or something similar, or one where a group of friends decide to go on a journey to please/impress their parents/guardians/peers.
Their journey brings them to a town not unlike theirs (perhaps even parallel to it). As they collect items needed to fulfill their journey and quest, the town grows more hostile. Their final item is in an inn/hotel of some sort, and the initially-kind innkeeper and employees/family try to trick the protagonist party several times until finally being killed/destroyed/banished/etc by the company party, either freeing the town or removing it from existence (in a sense).
(Taken straight from the PM. I can edit it later if need be.)

Syllen

Having just handed off his horse to one of the stable boys, he briskly walked into the building. At a first glance, the Guild's headquarters seemed like any other three-storied building in the town. Even though their style of business was still relatively unknown, there was no discrediting the undercurrents of suspicion. The scrutiny didn't stop the individual members from setting off and completing their assignments, however.

As he rounded the corner, he glimpsed the twin wooden doors closing and another male slipping out into the hallway. Prepared to write him off as another person he didn't quite the know the name to, a second glance told him otherwise. Ignoring the look tossed his way, he only pushed open the doors and stepped inside of the room to find that Galan was busy reading through a stack of papers and documents.

"Ah. Syllen," the male said even though he didn't look up at him. "Everything's settled?"

"Of course," was his easy reply.

"And the report?"

"My best estimate is later this afternoon." If what he had observed of the others was true, however.

"I'll have another assignment for you compiled soon, then." At this point, Galan had looked up and over at him with a nod.

Syllen was eyeing the documents on the table. No doubt that was his next one. But he refrained from saying anything else and simply nodded in affirmation before he left the council room. When he walked back out into the hallway again, he didn't find it the least bit unusual to see that Kerym was still there.
Kerym

As Galan started to flick through the papers Kerym had slid him across the table, he started to say, "Thorough as usual."

"I try. The place didn't have quite as many people living within its walls, though." He had adjusted his stance to lean his hip against the edge of the table. It was true, though. This assignment wasn't as difficult as his previous ones were. Didn't stop him from noting everything, however.

Galan merely made a thoughtful noise before he looked up and nodded at Kerym. "You're free to take a leave. I'll call on you again when there's another of high-caliber."

As was the usual. Knowing a dismissal when he heard one, Kerym nodded in return before he pushed himself upright and started to leave. When he had stepped out into the hallway, however, he was not the least bit surprised at who he saw was heading straight down the hall. The man was nothing if not efficient in his work.

And he wasn't surprised when he didn't receive some form of acknowledgement as the other male brushed past him. Instead, he merely turned to watch him disappear into the room. He might as well wait for him.

Not that that didn't last long. The dark-haired male appeared again only several minutes later. "Up for doing anything else today?"

"Depends on what it is."

Kerym had to roll his eyes before he reached out and snagged the other male's arm by the crook of his elbow. "I'm in the mood for some company, so indulge me, would you?" he said as he started to walk them to the entrance and out onto the streets.

((OORP: I’m subscribed as well ^_^ Also, I’m assuming everyone is already friends/have been friends for a little bit? If not I can edit my reply or make a new one. I, uh...probably should’ve made sure of that before we started...sorry.)

Jaquelle was just chatting up some guys and gals when she noticed Syllen and Kerym. “I’ll be back,” she told the small group. She started walking over to the two boys. “Hey guys! What’s up? Any interesting jobs? Crushes? Anything at all?”

((No, it's fine! That was the assumption I was going under as well.))
Syllen

He didn't protest when he was, arguably, dragged out of the Guild's headquarters. Instead, he said after he extricated his arm out of Kerym's grasp, "I thought you had enough of some company already." Since the man's assignments were often passed down to him, it wasn't too much of a reach to assume the same here.

"That's different, Syllen."

He could only manage to look the slightest bit exasperated, but he didn't say anything else as they continued walking.
Kerym

He didn't protest when his arm had fallen back to his side nor did he bother to glance over at him to see what type of expression he bore after his answer. Instead, when he looked around and spied someone running up to them, a smile broke out and he gave a little wave to the girl. "Lovely to see you, Jacquelle!"

When they had stopped, Syllen just coming up short beside him, he had answered with a dismissive gesture, "We just finished working on some stuff for a bit. But, unfortunately, no new relationships. Not for me, anyway, and you know how Syllen is." Kerym had tilted his head to the male beside him. "Too tense for crushes."

He willfully chose to ignore the cutting glance sent his way by said male. "What about you, darling? That guy over there seems nice enough." He nodded his head to one of the men standing in the group that she had just been talking with.

“Eh, he dresses weird,” Jacquelle replied, shrugging. She did not acknowledge, however, that among the girls she was talking to, she was the only one wearing pants and often got told the same thing. “And he has this weird accent. Not my type.” She paused for a few moments. “But seriously, can you spare any sort of details about your job? I promise I won’t tell anyone! Just tell me the name of the person you may-or-may-not have stabbed and I won’t force any more information out of you for a solid hour!”

It wasn't surprising in the slightest to hear her request. That didn't mean that they were going to divulge that sort of information, however. Especially not in a public space such as this. "Don't even think about it," he said in warning to him when his eyes had skipped over to Kerym who had opened his mouth. "You know I can't discuss specific information about my cases to you, Jacquelle." And if Galan caught wind of it, he would have his head.
Kerym

He frowned at Syllen, but he looked back over to the girl in front of them. "Tempting offer, though." It wasn't as if they weren't used to her probing, anyway. Besides, the news might end up leaking out. Not that he had any idea of who it was this time, of course. Though his own assignments varied, he didn't find out who had been eliminated until it had already happened. Or until Syllen had spoken of a case to him--which hadn't happened for a while now.

“Come on,” Jacquelle said, slightly feigning a begging tone. “We can head over to my house. I think I still have cookies.” She looked at Syllen before adding, “Although you might be too bitter for them. Who knows.” She tried not to make it sound too insulting; she just meant it as a general observation.

((Edit: changing a typo several hours later >_<))

Nonetheless, he raised a brow at her even though he didn't say anything in response. It wasn't like he would have leaped at the chance. He'd managed to grab a few bites of his rations on the way back here. So, he was fine for a little while.
Kerym

He had to hide a small smile when he glimpsed Syllen's bemused expression. Taking a few steps forward so that he could drape an arm across her shoulders, he started the walk back to her house. "You know I always say that your baking skills are purely a delight. In the meantime, Syllen can just stand there and look imposing."

“He can stand outside the door and be all guard-like,” Jacquelle joked. “Oh wait! I think my mother gave me some raisin cookies instead of chocolate chips. Tell you what; Syllen can have the raisin cookies and me and Kerym can have the chocolate chip and double chocolate cookies.”

He was quietly trailing beside the two of them, deigning to roll his eyes at their chatter. "You can hold off on the treats, Jacquelle. I'd rather not try to force myself to eat."
Kerym

"Somehow, being a guard would work for him. He acts like one most of the time," he mused. After sending the male a brief glance when he had spoken, he said, "More for us, I suppose. It wouldn't hurt either one of us to indulge ourselves for a little bit."
