It was like any other morning. Clear skies and quiet land. A brilliant and overpowering flash burst on the horizon over the sea, lighting up the entire sky in a frightful light. The flash was visible to those in territories of the Flamecaller, Tidelord, Lightweaver and Windsinger.

For dragons in the Tidelord's domain, five to thirty seconds later, an ear splitting boom rushed across the surface of the water. Underwater bystanders heard a deep rumbling crackle.

For those farther away on continental Sorneith, dragons experienced the surprisingly strong heat pulse and saw the flash on the horizon. About a minute later, the ground would rumble and rattle, a few cups falling off their shelves before everything went still again. The light faded, a dark spot appeared in its place that slowly rose, and it seemed as if nothing had happened. Hatchlings whined within their rooms and nests at the disturbance, while young adults paced worriedly and bombarded their parents with questions that they were unable to answer.

It was soon identified and passed along over the telegram system that the explosion has come from the clan known as Trinau, and no-one beyond its borders should have been harmed beyond being shaken up. The explosion was explained to be an explosion of a fuel refinery, an irresponsible guard deciding to light a cigar.

The state’s spokesperson, a guardian male named Venusian refused to disclose any details on the incident, stating “We, too, aren’t sure who or what caused this. We know the ground between the Lightweaver and Tidelord has been unstable. It may have been an attack, but we pressure you not to speculate. We assure you, the one who started the explosion shall be punished.”

Kane, a General from the OASIS outpost in the Stormcatcher’s domain complained openly, “Stupid thing caused all my machinery to short circuit. Nothing works. We’ve been set back weeks! Fuel explosions shouldn’t do that to circuitry, this thing screwed everything up all the way from the middle of the ocean.” She continued, “I’ve got half a mind to talk to Lady Isotope and demand her to fund us. I’m not violent, you see, but this is ridiculous.”

Barda, the romantic partner and superior officer of Kane was more concerned about her clanfolk than the projects. “My dragons seem to be falling sick. It might have something to do with what happened out there in the sea. There’s a thin layer of dust on all of our tents, and we’ve had to go underground to avoid it. Please, try to avoid contact with it. I think it’s got something to do with this. People to the East, go underground if you can. Everyone else, keep an eye on the wind direction. Protect your eggs. Protect your hatchlings. Just wait until this all blows over.”

Meanwhile, in the Crystalpines, scientist Arkenstone who as not given details reports “a sudden spike in electromagnetic emission showed up on Xhaz’s (the Arcanist) WMAP satellite. It makes no sense. I’d think it was a solar flare, but I saw the thing with my own eyes, and it sure wasn’t from space. Gamma rays are just another wavelength of light, and it came from the direction of the Lightweaver, so that’s my guess as to what this is. It’s got to be the Lightweaver.”

Waterlogged pink moths have been reported washing ashore mixed in with the sea foam on all coasts, but most heavily on the coast of the shadow domain.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM LADY ISOTOPE OF TRINAU OVER SORNEITH TELEGRAPH SYSTEM:

“Dragons of Sorneith—I’m addressing your concerns about “The Incident” tonight with the hopes that your concerns and pointed speculation can be tamed. The explosion was due to mishandling of fuel by an inexperienced workdragon working after hours. He was located three hours after The Incident, and was the only dragon found on the scene at the time who had taken damage. Questions will be answered if they are sent to my inbox. I reserve the right to deny questions. No, I am not required to provide a reason. Good evening.”
