Dolly didn't like how rough and grough his clan was, and after learning basics of sowing, etc. He made a doll for a dragon he had befriended, but the dragon lost its life defending Dolly from shade. The clan found him, and was extremely scolding of the dragon for not being strong enough to defeat the shade, and so he took the doll and fled. His friend had possessed the doll

Quinn was once a mighty warrior in the name of the light but over many years has been forgotten by the shifting tides of time. With no wars to win and no one to fight for he rose to become a protector of the lost and abandoned. Yeah he could have been found by the clan's necromancer too who mistook him for deceased at first. Not knowing how to handle a member of the warm blooded he could seek help from the founder, who then hauls their waterlogged guest to the dens to get cooled off and hydrated
