Hoseki stretched yawning as she was about to leap out of bed to wake up her brothers she realized she wasn’t in her room. She sat there confused for a bit and then banged her head on the wall. Idiot! How’d I forget I’m still in Konoha...This is Tenten’s house! “Stupid...” she muttered, making the bed nice again.
“Hoseki!? What did you do!? I heard a loud noise!” Tenten yelled at her.
“Ahahaha, sorry I forgot I was in Konoha for a bit so I banged my head on the wall!” She said cheerfully. Tenten sighed at her scatterbrained friend. “Ok, be ready soon, we’re supposed to meet Lee and Neji for breakfast!” Tenten yelled leaving the room so she could change.
“My team might meet us there too!” Hoseki yelled as she put on her jacket and tied her headband on her forehead. She still wore her Sunagakure headband even though she was in Konohagakure more than she was in Suna due to her being assigned a team there.
“Tenten! Let’s go now!” Hoseki yelled as she walked out the door.
“Hey! Wait for me!” Tenten yelled as Hoseki laughed.
“Race me!” She yelled, and took off.
“Wha- You little!” Tenten yelled and ran after her.
Hoseki wasn’t paying attention to where she was running and ran right into Neji with her full speed. Luckily, Rock Lee was there so he caught the two of them.
“Ahahahaha! Sorry Neji, I was racing Tenten!” She said to the irritated Hyuga. He glared at her and sighed. “Are you really a Jonin or did they promote you out of pity?” He asked.
“HEY I’M STRONGER THAN I LOOK!” She yelled in his face.
“Your poor team must suffer.” He said back with a smirk.
“Neji! Hoseki! Stop fighting! We must take this time to eat a good breakfast before we train!” Lee said with a thumbs up.
“Lee-kun, the Chunin exams are today! I gotta get my team and head over to Suna for the exams!” She yelled. “I’m supposed to meet them here.” Hoseki said, gesturing to the ramen shop.
“You...run...too...fast...” Tenten said, out of breath from trying to catch up with Hoseki.
“Hehe, sorry about that!” Hoseki said, rubbing the back of her neck. “Wonder when they’ll get here?” She murmured, thinking about her team.

Madoka woke up with the light of the morning sun shining rather close to her face. Quickly sitting up and out of the bed with a slight frown. Having the same dream about her parents suddenly dead in the dining room. She had sworn this had been the third time now. She doesn’t even know if she will ever get over their deaths, wondering if she is bound to end up like them soon considering the small clan’s issue.

Madoka went to the nearby small table where she has her necklace that she had always remembered wearing, and her Konoha headband. Even though she was originally from Sunagakure, she still has the necklace that she will remember where she came from. She wore the both of them on her neck and started to head down stairs where she could see her grandmother on the couch. “Good morning dear, hurry up and go, you don’t want to miss anything important now, right?” She said, her pale green eyes seemed to stare at Madoka’s bright green eyes. “Of course I don’t want to miss anything important.” She said with a smile, knowing how her grandmother always likes to rush. Madoka is different from that though.

But before she could leave, her grandmother gave her a quick hug and then lightly pushed her out the door. Quickly closing it. Though unsure what would her grandmother think if she could pass the exams. Would she be happy? And so she started to quickly speed walk her way to the ramen shop. Though she likes sushi and barbecue like choji, she wondered if she should have beef this time.

Kosuke slowly shut the book he was reading shut. His nerves had been getting the better of him all night, and he barely slept. He did manage to get in a few hours luckily. Sliding off his bed he tied his headband over his forehead. The symbol of Konoha lightly glinting in the pale morning light. He stretched his arms over his head, wiping at his eyes as he got changed. He made his way to the small table lying in the kitchen where his father sat. "Morning." His dad cheered, getting up and grabbing Kosuke's shoulders. Kosuke grinned, his eyes fairly lighting up. "Hey Dad. Sorry, I wanna stay longer but I got to go!"
"Oh, come on, ever since you became a genin you never talk to your awesome dad anymore!" His father joking pouted, stepping back from his son.
"Yeah, yeah old man. I can't be late." The genin said, twisting around with a playful smile and exaggerated eye roll. "See ya." Kosuke slipped out of the house, staring at the sun. With the small shake of his head he made his way over to the ramen shop. It was a little early for ramen, but whatever. Pulling out the book he had put down this morning he started to read through it. It was an older book about genjutsu, not really read much anymore due to the outdated techniques but Kosuke didn't mind much. It kept his mind off things.

Hozuki Nadeshiko was an excellent soldier.

She respected her superiors and turned in her mission reports on time. Her uniform was cleaned and neatly pressed. Like all mist shinobi, she was born with a predator's killer instinct.

Hozuki Nadeshiko was an excellent soldier, and excellent soldiers do not argue when transferred from A-rank recon missions to… glorified babysitting.

Two months on the job now and her genin team had made remarkable progress. They had been little more than petty children when she'd first been introduced to them. Spoiled brats, really. Still, they worked hard and they practiced their drills and, best of all, they obeyed. If they survived what she was about to put them through, they would make fine chuunin.

In the dim light of a dying campfire, Nadeshiko counted her kunai as she prepared them for the task ahead. One, two, three… the fourth was dull, had one of her students borrowed it? No good, a weak blade was a death sentence in the heat of battle. Every detail, down to the last shuriken, needed to be ready for combat. The arrangements had already been made. The chuunin exams were scheduled to begin at dawn, and for the first time in generations, the bloodthirsty ninja of Kirigakure were going to join the frenzy.

Well… bloodthirsty might be a bit of a stretch. Despite her best efforts, her genin still hesitated to deal fatal blows. Perhaps the coming trials would knock some sense into them. Experience is the best teacher, and all that.

At the very least, this mission was giving her a change of scenery. Sunagakure, Konohagakure… she struggled to picture any city not drenched in fog. Vaguely, she lamented not bringing along any sort of balm. Her hands were dry and cracked, and gods, she shuddered at the thought of that arid desert heat. She wiped the dust from her forehead with the back of her hand, and resumed her preparations.

It was going to be a long few weeks.

Hoseki saw Madoka and Kosuke and smiled. “Yo! Madoka! Kosuke!” She waved to the two. It was a little odd for her being the leader since she was only two years older than them but oh well.
“Hello Kosuke-san! Madoka-san! I wish you the best of luck in the exams today!“ Lee said to the two.
“Do your best and make our village proud!” Tenten cheered. Neji smiled- well more like smirked, and nodded to them.
“Eat up everyone! My treat today, so make sure you do well in the exams!” Hoseki said with her usual smile. “If you finish early Lee’s team can take you while I wait for Ryumon!”

Madoka noticed Kosuke first right before she heard Lee. Madoka glances at him for a second before smiling at Lee, then nodded to Ten-ten and Neji. And stood close to Hoseki, looking at the others. “Thanks. I will try.” She said to them, and so started to eat a bowl of beef ramen since she silently and quickly decided for herself.

Though she was eating at an alright fast pace, she was careful to not accidentally choke. And so wondered what Ryumon is up to, along with what Kosuke will do during the exam, hopefully to not read more than he helps himself. Though she doesn’t want to judge or anything like that, but she became curious as she watched him for a few minutes.

Before she finished the rest of her breakfast though, she looked at Kosuke curiously. “Do you know what Ryumon is up to at this time?” She asked, a bit worried about her, she doesn’t want anyone left behind after all.

"Hello, Hoseki-sensei." Kosuke said, giving a small wave. He momentarily froze at Lee's words, slightly taken aback before mumbling a quiet thanks to Lee, Neji and Ten-ten. He moved to sit down, slipping his book away. His leg bounced furiously in his seat, as he looked at the menu. Once he found something he figured he'd try he ordered. Kosuke barely caught Madoka's question. "I'm afraid I don't know." He said, slowly slipping a hand on his knee. "I'm sure Ryumon can handle herself though, I wouldn't be too worried." He took a rather large bite of ramen, thinking about his own answer. He could only hope Ryumon wasn't late or anything.

Ryumon Ryumiko was never one for early mornings, and when she had to wake up early it was often with bleary eyes and lethargic movements. It was something that her brother was trying (and almost succeeding) in training out of her. Today however, was not one of those days as she glared down at her families koi's as they lazily swam or rested at the bottom of the pond. Slightly jealous of how easy their lives were and that they got to sleep in. Most of them were metallic, scales shining in silver or gold whenever the light hit them just right. Ryumiko only cared about one though, it's color sticking out like a sore thumb as it swam through the water, bright blue scales and white tipped fins trailing through the water.

She carefully dropped a few pellets in front of it, watching as they were practically inhaled by the koi before the others noticed that it was feeding time and woke. The waters once calm surface distorting as she dropped more pellets, the koi fighting to get to the food and easily drenching the hems of her sleeves from all of the splashing.

"Aren't you supposed to meeting up with your team right now?" Jumping, Ryumiko dropped the rest of the pellets into the water, the splashing increasing dramatically as she turned to face her brother. His dark hair falling around his shoulders in messy waves and hiding his right eye from view. Ryukado's one visible blue eye was tugged upwards as he smiled at his sisters reaction, the scaring along the right side of his face under his hidden eye twisting along with it.

"Kado oh my cod! Don't sneak up on me like that!" She retorted, hands gesturing wildly at his form as he rose up one neat eyebrow at her behavior.

"You're a Kunoichi now aren't you? I shouldn't be able to sneak up on you so easily. Also you didn't answer my question. When were you supposed to be meeting your team again?" Ryumiko glared, because he knew that she knew that he was in ANBU and that she wasn't anywhere close to being in his skill level and wouldn't be for another three or so years. Still her anger trailed off at his question, mind trying to remember how long she had left to actually meet her team without being late.

"I was supposed to meet them at the ramen shop? I mean I should have another ten or so minutes before I actually need to leave." She answered, watching her brothers eyes narrow before closing, a hum leaving his throat as he focused. She knew that he was a sensor and she glared at him for showing off the ability, feeling jealous that she didn't have anywhere near his skill or range.

"Your teammates and sensei are already at the ramen stand Miko. That means that you're late." Her blue eyes widened comically as she quickly waved goodbye to her brother, not quite managing to dodge the farewell head rub as she ran back to her room to fetch the rest of her gear. Slipping on her elbow-length fingerless gloves that stored her katana and kunai, as she ran through the home. She caught sight of her mother kneeling before the family butsudan, her head bowed and allowing the loose strand of peach hair to cover her face. Somehow Ryumiko knew that the other womans eyes were focused on her fathers ihai (spirit tablet).

Ryumiko stilled debated whether or not she had time, before moving to kneel before the family shrine alongside her mother. The Ryumon clan head not moving except to gently grasp one of Ryumiko's hands with one of her own before moving the same hand to the back of her daughters head to press a quick kiss and then focusing back on her husbands ihai, mouth slowly and silently moving as she prayed. Taking the dismissal for what it was Ryumiko offered up a small prayer to her father and ancestors before once again standing and making her way to the ramen shop that she was supposed to be at minutes ago.

"AHHHH! I'm so sorry that I'm late everyone! I got distracted feeding the koi and thought I had more time!" She called out a few feet away from the ramen stand, face flushed with a mixture of exhaustion and embarrassment from being late and running the whole way. Quickly turning to the chef she ordered a bowl of her usual tonkotsu ramen which was immediately placed before her. As if already expecting her to order her usual when he had seen the rest of her teammates. Quickly offering her thanks to the man she began to quickly but consume the food as quickly as the lessons drilled into her allowed.

Following her team mate’s advice, Madoka finished her bowl and thanked the chef. Though as she was just about to think on the possibilities, she had heard Ryumon and turned to look at her with a very small, quick smile, knowing that she wouldn’t be too far behind.

Turning to look at Hoseki, she spoke. “Thank you for this Hoseki Sensei.” She said, grateful for the breakfast. Then she looked at Ryumon, can’t believing that she can eat with such speed without risking the chance to start choking. Though thought about her explanation, thinking that koi’s are pretty and an animal to get distracted watching, but to her only because of their different colored scales.

Even though she would rather pet a snake, cat, or dog than a fish. She looked away and looked at Lee, and the others, waiting for the other team mates to be done.
