Tell stories and roleplay in the world of Flight Rising.
TOPIC | The Melting Cup Cafe (Open!!)
1 2
Hidden within the tangles of the contagion a peculiar place lies. Surrounded by the ever expanding infection, only the most adventurous of dragons have stumbled upon it. A quaint shop simply named ‘The Melting Cup‘ greets its customers with a nice drink and place to rest on their journeys, wherever they may be.

Today is a new day! I wonder who it will bring with it?

His elegant mask glowed with an amber light as he turned his head, looking about the quaint building, expression hidden away from the view of any who may stare at his odd appearance, reaching hands spiraling from his spine. He shook his head side to side, more sand falling from the feathers around his face, beginning to walk forwards towards a counter he'd spotted. Gears clicked once again as he pulled his wings closer to his flanks, maw opening as he began to speak. "Salutations... What do you serve here?" he rumbled, baritone voice low and rasping with the quality of someone who hasn't used their voice for a period of time, sentence spoken haltingly as though he didn't know what to do with his mouth. The strange dragon couldn't seem to stand still, his wings twitching ever so slightly, head tilting to the left and then to the right. His legs moved restlessly, shifting about as though he wanted to run away. One could think he looked uncomfortable in this different environment, this enclosed room where there was no place to move, to escape easily.

She gives a small hum and it scurries off to another part of the shop. “Welcome traveller!” She pauses to register what he says, her head fan idly flickering.” Ah! On our menu today we have; Sweetskink , Chai, Trava tea as our (urm) Teas. Normal,Black, Caramel, and Coffecorpia, as our Coffees. And fruit muffins as snacks.”

He listened silently as she explained the menu, vaguely recalling something from his childhood that made it seem like the menu had a very small variety, but that didn't matter much. He continued to be silent as he thought about the given options. "I'll have... Chai," he said slowly, the name unusual on his tongue. He hadn't heard many of the names the fae had listed off, so he simply picked one at random-- but a tea specifically. He remembered tea; his mother used to make it for him when he was a hatchling. When he had the resources he tried to make tea, but the leaves and herbs he used were always bitter. He hoped this tea would be kinder to his mouth.

He rested his front arms on the table, talons tapping against the smoothed wood with a faint clicking sound, his head continuing to swivel as he looked around. There didn't seem to be very many people in the cafe, just him and a few other assorted dragons, all rather quiet as they ate and drank. Some seemed to be reading, others staring off into space, and others sat in small clusters, talking with each other. Luccio looked down at his hands, adjusting one of his bracelets while he waited for his drink.

A short while later Diad’s familiar comes from behind the counter, holding a tray with a single cup, a fancy container, and bell on it. It looks around for a bit before finally spotting Luccio and carefully making its way over.

It gently sets the drink and bell on the table, along with a note. Yet before it could do anything else a low almost melodic chime comes from one of the other tables. At the sound the familiar perks up, before giving a soft bow and scurrying off to the next table. The note reads,

‘Ring this bell for refills, and please be patient as Malay is very easily annoyed and wont listen after the second chime. Thank you for staying!’

Her tail flicked in anticipation, she absolutely adored tea and this was one of the few places she hadn't visited yet. Normally she would be seen in much more eloquent settings, however, she wasn't in the mood to be pestered by aspiring royals. Or rather she simply didn't have the patience to interact with them any longer. Yikianya shifted her wings at that thought, thank the gods she wouldn't be dealing with any of those suitors. Hopefully. The dragoness stepped into the shop, she inhaled the sweet scent of herbs and felt a sense of calmness wash over her. There was nothing better than a simple cup of tea. Yikianya's light yellow eyes flicked around the room, making sure there was no one to potentially bother her there. She noticed a Skydancer, one that reminded her of hidden ruins in the desert. Something about him made her want to talk to him, maybe it was simply the fact that he reminded her of an old friend. He was interesting, however, it was rude to stare. The Nocturne turned her head back over towards who she believed to be the shop's owner and gave a warm smile. "Salutations, friend. Are you the owner of this cafe?" she asked, addressing a purple Fae before her. She was quite certain this small dragon owned the place, although it never hurt anyone to check.
