The Dormer School of Magical Studies, founded by Edward Dormer, accepts children with magical powers. People that are rejected from society, deemed outcasts and monsters, who have nowhere else to go. It dares to train the Supernatural to become more powerful, teaching them how to harness their abilities. The school is supposed to be a safe haven for children with no other place to go. What no one realizes, however, is that the school is founded and run by the Templar organization. The Templar are dedicated to eradicating all traces of magic in the world. They believe it's profane, an abomination. Students never leave the school, and their parents are kidnapped and held hostage to coerce the students into bending to the Templar's will. The most powerful are forced to push the Templar's agenda, while the weak are tortured and crushed.
Heyo! So, here's ANOTHER RP I'm starting. Why? *shrugs in insomniac* A fair warning - I don't actually have WiFi until the 13th, and will likely be very mildly active until the 14th. So, please be patient. I do mooch off of Library WiFi on occasion, but I'm doing schoolwork then, so... Again, I might be slow. Please, please read the rules and information before submitting a character.

P.S @ people who know me - Yes, I am being irresponsible.

The Dormer School of Magical Studies accepts children as young as 12 years old, in the 6th grade. Students age 12 to 14 are educated as though they are students in a "normal" school. They have a separate dorm building from the high schoolers, and their course load focuses more on traditional schooling, with P.E generally educating children on using their magical abilities (a bit poorly, they are more too judge the student's abilities.) Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are subjected to the worst treatment. They are able to be punished more severely than younger children. The school has a dungeon that subjects students to horrid treatments, and students can be left there for days or weeks at a time. Sophomores are generally subjected to the torment to an excessive amount, breaking down the weaker ones to death. This treatment is used to separate the students that would be strong enough to push the Templar's agenda. Juniors and Seniors are pushed to their limits and brainwashed into the Templar's way of thinking. Very often they are exceedingly aggressive to their underclassmen, bullying and tormenting them as they begin to hate them. The Dormer School of Magical Studies is in the United States, in Oregon, the Portland/Salem area.

Rules/Info

  • No power playing. It's no fun to have the roleplay dominated by uber-powerful characters with no weakness.
  • Powerful characters ARE OKAY. Just make sure they can be thwarted in some way, and make sure you aren't using them and ignoring other people's wishes on how they want the RP to go.
  • Please do not God-Mod. If someone gives you permission to assume how their character would react (i.e asking a teacher to allow the student to go to the bathroom) is okay. Usually, this would happen to prevent one-liners, and keep the RP moving at a steady pace.
  • Please try to post at least once a week. I understand if things come up, just let me know in advance (or after the fact, if it sprung up on you suddenly)
  • Please try and post at least a paragraph. I understand that writer's block can stop you from writing a super-juicy post all the time, so I'm not asking for a page per post. Just try to post a little longer than 2 sentences if you can, so the RP doesn't stall.
  • Try to avoid typos and spelling errors/grammar errors. I understand that, sometimes, it can be hard *coughs in stuck on mobile*. Just, when you can, try to make sure your spelling, at the very least, is okay.
  • IF your character begins to have a problem with another character, please don't take it out on the user. It may just be how the RP will end up going. That being said, please be careful with the amount of vitriol you spew at another character. It can be unpleasant to RP with an overly hateful character all the time.
  • Try to make interesting characters. You don't have to have a 300 word-count backstory, or whatever. Just try to avoid one-word character descriptions.
  • DON'T feel required to completely stick to the sheet. Sometimes as you RP, you realize the character has a different personality. Sometimes you start fleshing out their backstory. And characters grow. They change based on the events they go through. That is okay.
  • If you have a problem, talk to me. I am more than willing to help you out.
  • If you need to drop out, just let me know! If you want to PM me and have me let everyone know, that's fine. If you think it would be better to tell everyone yourself, that's fine too. Your reason doesn't even need to be something extravagant, like "I need to step back and take care of my family." It can be "I feel a bit burned out."
  • If you need to drop out, and want to jump back in, that's fine! I'll keep your character on-hand.
  • You are allowed more than one character! Just, please, be sure you can keep up with them.
  • Have fun! I know it can seem like a lot to keep in mind, but this RP is supposed to be fun above all else. Keep that in mind, and I'm sure everything will be fine.

Character Name: Jazmine Richards
Nickname (optional): N/A, but able to change
Age & Grade (6th - 10th): 15, 10th grade (Sophmore)

Pronouons: She/her
Species: Human/Dragon half-breed
Description:
Jazmine is fairly light-skinned. She has shoulder-length brown hair, which she lets hang loose. She has a few freckles dotting her face and arms. Her eyes are a light brown, almost amber color, that seems to take on a golden glow in the sunlight or when she's upset. Jazmine has a medium build, stands at about 5'8", and her frame is balanced between muscle and fat. Jazmine's face is round, and her facial features are set, giving her the appearance of being older than she really is. She doesn't smile very often, but when she does it's a very natural, lighthearted look. Jazmine tends to wear graphic t-shirts and jeans, as well as beat up tennis shoes and holey socks. Her shirts are either a little too small or a little too big, and her pants tend to be baggy, forcing Jazmine to wear a belt. Jazmine squints frequently, as she needs glasses but doesn't have them. She wears the school uniform a bit unkempt, but not sloppy.

Student/Teacher: Student

Powers:
  • Jazmine has the ability to shift into a dragon. Her dragon form is medium-sized, about as large as an elephant. She is able to breathe fire and fly, although she doesn't fly too well due to not practicing.
  • Jazmine can wield magic. Mostly minor elemental spells, with an affinity for electricity and fire, although she is able to use a bit of telekinesis.
  • Jazmine is telepathic. This doesn't help her as much as it would seem on the surface. She has trouble shutting it off, and will hear people's thoughts as though they were simply speaking them (i.e if they are worried about a test, she'll hear that specifically.) This also causes her to dream-bleed, which makes her unable to sleep most nights. Dream bleeding is where she sees other people's dreams and also forces hers onto people around her. Nightmares are the most powerful and dominate all party's dreams if one is occurring.
Class (if teacher):N/A

Personality: Jazmine is fiercely loyal when she befriends someone. While at first, she can be standoffish and slightly aggressive, once she warms up to people she is very outgoing and extroverted. When meeting new people, she tends to get quiet, although if her friends seem to know and are friendly with someone, she is keener to open up. Jazmine tries not to get angry, even to the point of having an anxiety attack at the thought of confrontation, but when she does, she explodes hard. It usually takes a lot for her to get there, but she gets to that point quickly if the people she cares about are being attacked. Jazmine is fairly self-deprecating, and her self-esteem is terrible. However, if someone talks down about themselves, she gets extremely emotional and refuses to let them keep doing so.
Background: Jazmine's father left when she was young, the day she was born. Her mother spent her life blaming Jazmine for it, becoming neglectful and often verbally abusive. Occasionally Jazmine's mother, Alice, would completely cut Jazmine off from the world. This caused Jazmine to struggle in forming relationships and stopped her from developing crucial social skills. Jazmine, as a result, became very antisocial at school, sticking mostly to herself. Alice would be at work a lot, claiming that Jazmine made it nearly impossible to survive without working 50_ hour weeks. In reality, the excess work was to support Alice's drinking and smoking habits, as well as funding an illicit substance addiction. Jazmine ended up taking part time jobs, quitting, or transferring as her mother moved them around. Alice was able to wield a bit of magic herself, and often used it as a way to taunt Jazmine. Jazmine's grades began slipping as she got older and more anxious, and she began to find it harder and harder to keep stable at work. Alice blamed Jazmine, saying she wasn't trying hard enough to help out, and generally making Jazmine feel bad for suffering from mental health disorders. Jazmine continually denied that anything was wrong, and tried to believe that her life was "normal," and refused to talk to people who could prove otherwise.

Other:
  • Jazmine has never been diagnosed but suffers from mood, anxiety, and eating disorders.
  • Jazmine needs glasses and often has trouble seeing.
  • Her father regrets leaving, and has attempted, but failed to, locate Jazmine and her mother. ((I'm kinda? Considering adding him later. But if someone else wants to, that's fine.))
  • Half-dragons, like Jazmine, are not only viewed as monsters in the human world but as abominations in the dragon world also. They are regarded as tarnishing or weakening the draconic bloodline, and many are ordered to death or disownment. Jazmine is undocumented, so the draconic council has no clue she exists.

JXVUomh.png Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning—little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door—
Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as “Nevermore.”
—Edgar Allen Poe

If so, do they enforce it? [/quote] Yes! I actually covered it in my WORD VOMIT of a character sheet and also my first post (it isn't up yet), so I don't blame you for missing it! The uniform is unisex, meaning it is the same for males and females (this was a decision by me so that characters that were trans/nonbinary/genderfluid didn't get forced into a category they felt they didn't belong to). It consists of a long-sleeved button-up top that is white. Think of the undershirt in a tuxedo, only a bit more comfortable. They also get a blue blazer with the school's emblem emblazoned on the left breast. Their pants are black slacks with an optional belt. No one cares about the shoes, as long as they are close-toed, although the students must wear straight black or straight white socks (some students have exploited a loophole and worn one black and one white sock, and no one raised a stink.) The school is fairly hard on the uniform, really only allowing the blazer to be optional. They do modify it based on student's needs, and when on school grounds outside of school hours (students aren't allowed to leave) they are allowed to wear what they please, as long as they don't go fully/partially nude.
