Raven Nightshade - Horizon High School

Raven Nightshade was at school, quite early. Opening her locker to get some things out for her next class, she ran her hand nervously through her hair. She mostly felt like this at school, though no one noticed much. Why?

Because she was afraid of letting slip her powers.

Of course, Raven had some degree of control over her powers, but not all the time can everyone control their emotions right? So it’s the same with her powers. As she looked around the hallway, she noticed a girl younger than her walking down the hall.

Raven had never talked to this girl before, but just interestedly watched her walk down the hall.

Clover started running when she saw Ace. She slowed down when she got about a foot away and jumped on his back, laughing. Ace whipped around and glared at her.

She grabbed his wrist and dragged him out of the hallway. Looking around to make sure no one was watching as she ducked into a closet. She had to make sure no one saw what they were going to do.

The two of them stared at one of their classmates, who had duct tape covering his mouth, Clover was grinning. She loved doing this with her big brother. She pulled a knife out of her dark green backpack with a wild expression. But she stopped when she heard a muffled cry. She knew that if he kept this up they would be caught.

She quickly gave her knife to Ace and put a shy expression back on her face, as she picked up her books and walked back outside, so that she could make sure no one can know.

She heard a scream... and then silence. That's when she saw a girl watching her.

Raven frowned when the scream rent the silent air. Looking at the girl, she noticed a weird expression on her face, like a wild feeling. The hallways were completely empty, no students were here yet except for the few of them and Raven.

Walking past the girl without much thought, her shoes clicking upon the floor, she looked at the next set of lockers on the left. Nothing was there, except for a cupboard. Strange, Raven thought, and decided to investigate, not really noticing the other girl anymore.

She approached the cupboard with apprehension, her right hand reaching instinctively for her wand hidden securely in her pocket...

Clover breathed a sigh of relief when the girl walked away, but she never took her eyes off of her. She knocked on the closet door, letting Ace know he can come out. The door creaked open slowly. Clover wiped a drop of blood off his face before he walked away quietly.

She looked back over at the girl, who was looking at something. Clover looked away and immediately looked back when she heard a cupboard opening. She realized it was hers.

Clover panicked and reached for her pockets. Ace had put her knife back in her pocket, but she didn't have her gun. Or her playing cards, which didn't matter as much but she hoped the girl wouldn't take them. They were all kept in the wooden cupboard.

Luckily, there was nothing personal in there that would give her identity away, so she may be fine for now, but soon that girl will find out.

Chirp loved school. The sophomore was always delighted to go to the building, seeing whatever new things they'd learn today. Even if they couldn't twitch their antenna to show their excitement, the energy radiating off of them was certain to.

The moth-like humanoid had everything they needed in a backpack slung over one shoulder- they'd learned quickly how to limit the amount of things they shoved in it, passing time was hardly enough to get to class, much less get to a locker. And so when they saw a pink-haired girl warily approaching a closet, they stopped.

The girl- a senior?- was clearly wary, and there were undertones in their body language that suggested an inhuman nature- a quick examination of thoughts only furthered this. She was opening someone else's locker, oddly enough, and some black-haired girl- they were the same year, Chirp thought- was glaring daggers at her. Pink Girl seemed to not care that she was being quite rude- invading someone's privacy and all- and of course, decided to say something.

Before they could, they picked up on someone knocking on something, followed by a faint creak. Footsteps followed, as well as another creak of presumably the door closing. Had they been in their normal form, antenna would have whipped around to examine this, but they were in their limited human form. Wait- what were they doing? Right- invasion of privacy isn't cool to Pink Haired Girl.

They walked up and tapped her on the shoulder, hating the feeling of only having two arms. "Excuse me, but I really don't think you should be looking through stuff that's not yours. It's pretty rude, y'know." Their voice was friendly, with mild undertones of a threat. Very, very mild. A faint edge, if you will. But they looked friendly enough, if one was to ignore the fact they tower over most humans of their age.

Raven was about to open the door when she heard a voice. She turned to face the girl. This girl she had not really noticed before either, but she seemed to be slightly inhuman, in Raven’s opinion.

“I’m really sorry if you think I’m going through someone else’s things,” Raven started, a bit haughty at the girl’s intrusion. “But just now I heard a scream coming from right here and I decided I’d check it out. There’s nothing wrong in checking if someone screamed from inside a locker, is there?” She asked, a slight frown upon her face.

Raven’s hand slid out of her pocket, thinking maybe she would deal with the other girl first. “But to be nice, I’m Raven.” She said, holding out her hand. “Who are you?”_________________________________________________________________

Pink-hair didn't mean harm- Chirp detected that instantly. Sure, she seemed to be one of the sort who'd think they were above rules, but even so Pink-hair didn't seem to think- or know- what she was doing was wrong. Chirp took a second, reading Pink-haired girl quickly. Yep- thought she was above everyone due to being an inhuman. Unfortunate, really. People like that often just turned out badly. This one, this one though had the power to back it up- politically, of course- that was clear in her posture and general demeanor that she'd always been shown respect.

As soon as Pink-hair offered a hand, the moth-creature in human form flinched away- an instinct drilled into their species. The girl held out her hand, which Chirp ignored as they spoke. "I am known as Chrip. They/them." Much of the friendliness was gone, replaced with an edge. Pink-haired clearly intended to get rid of them and then continue her invasion of privacy- that was as clear to the moth as anything.

"And as for screaming lockers, I'm afraid you're going a bit delusional. Closets, sure, but some random girl's locker?" The moth gave a cold smile, preparing themselves mentally for basically anything that Pink-hair would do. Or try, at least- people liked trying things with the 6'2" hyper kid. And it was always with bad intent for the moth.

Putting her hand down, Raven observed Chirp. Perhaps inhuman, due to the fact that she flinched when Raven held out her hand? Noticing the edge in Chirp’s voice, Raven’s frown became more pronounced.

“I don’t think I’m being delusional here.” Raven started, the kind voice replaced with that of a threatening one. “If I’m being delusional I should be losing my mind right here, right now. I know I heard a scream, it came from here, but if you think not, I don’t really care.” Raven hitched her bag a bit higher, and continued.

“Maybe, you would not be here saying I’m delusional,” (Raven rolled her eyes) “If, you had heard the scream too, which unfortunately maybe you weren’t early enough to hear it.” Raven’s flaming red hair seemed to flare, perhaps showing a clearer message to Chirp that she was clearly annoyed.

Chrip hummed quietly in acknowledgement. Someone was getting pissy, and it wasn't them. A dry smile now, eyebrows raised, as the moth gestured lightly to a nearby broom closet- where the scream had, in fact, come from. "You" an unintelligible mutter here "really ought to learn where sounds come from. Closets aren't lockers, sweetheart. People don't fit in one- and here's a hint. I can fit in a closet." I have fit in a closet for nearly sixteen years- I think I'd know.

Chrip's pose was still very non-threatening, the "human" seeming very relaxed to anyone- they'd had a lot of practice at earning body language and how to seem like they do or don't feel certain things- and so anyone short of a true mindreader would be at a complete loss with gauging them accurately. They pulled a pencil out from behind an ear and started fiddling with it, senses other than sight all very aware of what Pink-hair was doing.

"And remember sweetie, you've got a reputation to protect. Getting in a fight may not do that any good." And with that, the moth walked a few feet down the hall, to their own locker where some english book they needed had been discarded. Flipping it open, the creature seemed rather distracted as they fumbled with their (only two) arms to toss the book in their bag. Of course, they were still very aware of Pink-hair, knowing full well they'd pushed her quite far. Whether or not she would break was the question now, and of course Chirp had to see the results- their curiosity was killing them.
