The merchant behind the stand eyed the Skydancer with a small frown, watching her handle each of her wares with sharp eyes. ((Sorry this took so long! It's short too, I know. :/ Got ready for bed first so I wouldn't be interrupted by that. I'm thinking it's a marketplace type setting, but you can do something else if you want. It's fine if you just want to place your character with your first post; I can initiate interaction between our characters if my gal cooperates. ^^ Oh, and I'm subscribed, btw.))

Most stall-owners shot her a glare as she did so, but said nothing; if Kaleroa noticed, she didn't really care. Eventually she came to a small herb stand and looked over it more closely, apparently having found what she was looking for. Casting a sideways glance at the Skydancer beside her, she picked out a few bundles of herbs. ((had to go to bed :P i'm good with this setting! it's alright if you start the interaction, kaleroa's more interested in shopping lol. but maybe if someone talked to her first....))

((Sorry about the wait! I was really excited to respond, even checked a few minutes after your post, but about fifteen minutes into being awake and I just couldn't. Had what I'm pretty sure was a migraine for at least half the day. Not fun, but it's mostly gone now.))

Casting a distracted glance at the dragon who had come up beside her, the Skydancer took in the mask and Water-style apparel, offhandly wondering if the Wildclaw was of the Water flight or simply enjoyed their fashion sense. Perhaps her appearance had to do with her occupation?

Sparing it no more mind, she brushed the thought aside and got back to business, setting the herbs she held down and selecting a more promising bundle to inspect. As she scanned the leaves for blemishes, she could see in the peripheral of her vision the Wildclaw selecting several bundles of herbs.

As the Wildclaw shifted them to one hand, reaching for her payment, the Skydancer plucked the various plants from her grasp.

"Here," she said, laying down the other dragon's herbs and swapping out several. "See here?" she jabbed at one, "These are browned on the stem. And those smell more like dirt then anything else...these weren't properly dried...and those, hmm, they just seem wimpy—cut before they fully matured or grown in inadequate soil, I'd bet."

A sharp intake of air could be heard from across the stand, but the Skydancer ignored it as she handed the herbs to the Wildclaw and turned back to her browsing, selecting another bundle before returning it to its place a moment later with a disapproving cluck of her tongue.

"That's it," the merchant grit through her teeth, cheeks puffing out, "get, go. You're banned!" She snatched her wares from the Skydancer, crushing them in her fist.

The Skydancer looked at her blankly as the merchant stared with sorrow at the mangled leaves in her hand. "But why?"

The merchant looked up at at her and spat out with a snarl "Because you're always like this! If my herbs aren't good enough, then grow them yourself."

"I've shopped at your stand before?" The Skydancer titled her head quizzically. "Hmm, doesn't seem the type of place I'd frequent more than once."

The merchant flung her wings out, muttering half-formed words before turning to her help nearby. "Don't let her take anything," she gestured to the Skydancer, "I'm taking a break." She whirled towards the Skydancer, raising her fistful of herbs. "And I'm taking these with me!"

And with that, she walked away, grumbling under her breath all the while.

The Skydancer was unruffled, if mildly irritated. With a huff and a tight turn, she started to walk off, calling over her shoulder, "Fine, but you really shouldn't be shooing away customers when you barely have anything worth buying in the first place!"

((You can chase her down if you want, or they can meet at another herb stand, or she might even come up to the Wildclaw to ask what she's buying the herbs for if you don't like the other options. Depending on if your Wildclaw is the type and noticed what the Skydancer had so far, she could even buy what the Skydancer was trying to get and give it to her? Whatever you want to do. ^^

Also, I'm not planning on doing my responses this long if I can stop myself; I'm just long-winded and type out too many boring details.))

Without giving the Skydancer much more thought- probably just an especially picky customer, the Wildclaw supposed- she wove her way through the crowds to another stand.

Dozens of fragrant bundles sat out at this stall, hanging off the roof and laid out across the table. A little overwhelmed, Kaleroa took her time searching for what she needed.
The Skydancer had chosen this particular Marketplace for its size and variety, thus it wasn't long before she came upon another stall selling herbs.

With a frown, however, she noted the prices listed. The baseline quality was better, but it'd been worth picking through the other stalls' wares to save a few coins: she needed ingredients in bulk, and it added up rather quickly.

Picking up her first bundle of dried plants to inspect, the Skydancer couldn't help but notice it was the same Wildclaw from before shopping a few steps over from her. She followed the other dragon's movements out of the corner of her eye, noting what she picked up and adding what she remembered from the last stand, trying to puzzle out what use they were intended for.

But herbs had many uses, ranging from medicinal to magical and everything in between: she could be contacting a spirit, or making an enchantment or a burn ointment, or planning on cooking a stew—or maybe some combination. It was hard to guess based on a few ingredients and an incomplete knowledge of herbology.

"What are you going to use those for?" She finally asked, curiosity plain in her voice, tilting her head in gesture towards the herbs the Wildclaw held.
