Welcome to Dungeons and Dragons and (More) Dragons

DnDnD for short

I love DnD, and I'm beginning to explore the RP side of these forums, so I thought I'd try running a game here! The basic premise is you as a human being are roleplaying as a dragon who has a dnd character. This means a role play within a role play, but you are completely welcome to use your dragon as a thinly veiled self-insert if you can't imagine any of your dragons actually playing dnd.

Your dungeon master, DM, will be me, a member of FL/GHT, named Firebrand.

I am a student of dragon nature and your games are a fantastic way to explore that! I look forward to running all sorts of situations and seeing how you, as a fictional character, respond.

With that in mind, I would appreciate if you would introduce yourself, and your character. You may privately message me with this information if you prefer.
Below is an example of what I'm looking for, but in general follow the form:
 • Dragon Name
 • Image
 • Level of experience with tabletop rpgs
 • Extra info about dragon
 • Character name, race, and class
 • Any extra info about them, feel free to include any art of them
Example Intro and character wrote:

The name's Firebrand.

I've been involved in DnD in person for several years, first as a player in 4th edition then as a DM for 5th. I've dabbled in pathfinder, and I've run a few DnD games online.

I have fun playing games with others and learning about different clan cultures.

My character is Exfantor. He is a warforged Fighter.

He has a past as a mercenary guard, but recently he's become more interested in questing for rare items to sell for a higher profit.

This will be stored in a reference post so everyone can know who they're interacting with!

Now, let me tell you a bit about this game.
It is a dungeon exploration setup, similar to the concept in anime known as video game isekai. Essentially the dungeon is a separate magical dimension with its own natural laws. It may change shape in ways not expected of a structure in our reality. As such, the dungeon will not have any real or even consistent time. It has a stable and known entry point, and explorers before your characters have been there before. More will be revealed closer to the actual time of playing, but this gives you an idea to form your characters motivations for coming on this quest.
We will discuss if your character came there alone or if several, perhaps all, of your characters are part of one or more pre-formed parties. Your characters may have histories with each other that do not directly relate to this mission as well! You can discuss that with each other if you'd like that option; I presume you can express interest and people will take you up on it!
Character creation
Before you get ahead of yourself and go posting your introduction, here's some things to keep in mind for character creation. I highly recommend you read the rest of these initial posts before starting, but these will get you on the right track!

 • You can use a preexisting character if it meets all the requirements

 • This is a 5th edition game, so please ensure your character is actually from this edition
 • Homebrew content is allowed only after I have approved it; you can contact me privately to discuss any homebrew elements

 • Characters will all begin at level one (1); there will be opportunity for advancement throughout the game
 • Feel free to work out shared background with other characters beforehand, with the players permission of course (this goes for both your dragon and your dnd character!)
 • Please share any background of your character with me at the very least; I understand keeping your background hidden from other players can be fun, and I will not ruin that, however I can do my facilitation best if there are no secrets from me; I will try to adapt to reasonable surprises
 • I reserve the right to veto any creation decisions should I see the need; please understand I want to work with you and will be reasonable, but I have to facilitate a game for numerous people and balance everyone's needs

I highly recommend using DnDBeyond. I've set up a bit of a guide on the settings I want for this campaign if made through there.

Additionally, here are my expectations for gameplay. If I see the need to add more or alter the wording, I will inform the players via ping. If necessary I may quote from here; this is not meant to be condescending, but to aid understanding and show that it was in the rules.

General Conduct
 • Please treat the other players with courtesy. For the purposes of this game, this expectation is aimed first and foremost at the human beings posting. All serious warnings will be given out of character and ignoring them may result in removal from the game.
 • Within reason the dragon players are allowed to behave to a lower standard, because ultimately they are a fictional character. I may intervene if it feels to be getting out of hand. In most cases this will be in character, but in some cases I may do so out of character. The two cases I forsee are (1) when I would like you to adjust your message in some way, very minor and (2) you have said or done something severely out of line that I feel must be addressed immediately and strictly.
 • The DnD characters are allowed more freedom in turn, and again, I may intervene if I see the need either in world, in character, or out of character.
 • Please treat me with courtesy. I am a player too! I am patient, generally thick skinned, and reasonable. However, I will not stand for ignoring warnings and treating other human beings poorly.
 • Please understand that character actions or grudges are not aimed at you personally. Likewise, do not treat someone poorly because you as a person don't get along
 • Follow Flight Rising regulations. It would be a terrible shame for anyone to be formally penalized or to have this thread locked!
 • At no level may certain subjects be tolerated or made light of. These include abuse and sexual content. If you are concerned about if something you want to say or do might be off limits, you can contact me privately to check.
 • Please ask me if you have any questions at all! Whether its about gameplay, the behaviour of myself or another player, or anything else, I'd much rather you talk to me rather than assume
 • This particular dungeon is a creation of a dear real life associate of mine. She drew inspiration from a variety of sources, and I doubt looking things up will do you any good. Nonetheless, please do not try.
 • Along the same vein, I do not take kindly to metagaming. For those who may not know, for our purposes it is the act of acting in character based on information gained out of character. Due to the multilevel nature of this game, there will be some allowance for minor instances between player level and dragon level as well as dragon level to dnd character level. I will inform you if your character knows a piece of information, and you are encouraged to ask questions in order to clarify what your character knows.

Gameplay
This is a dnd game, and so it will be held together with a bit more structure than most roleplays. I'm happy to teach and flexible, but in general some format guidelines are helpful. Please please ask me for further clarification at any time! These guidelines are not needed to be religiously held to, but if I ask for reformatting to promote clarity, please comply.
 • Out of character comments are best put in brackets (like this) for clarity. If you are the sort who frequently uses brackets in your normal writing, consider [square brackets] or ((doubling up)) for additional clarity where needed
 • Actions and narration for the dnd characters will be italicized and normal text for the dragon characters.

 • In character speaking will be put in brackets. Please add dialogue tags to indicate if it is the dnd character or the dragon character
 • Rolls will be done based on honour. If I suspect tampering, measures to change or ensure honesty will be put into place immediately for everyone. It is more fun for everyone if you're honest!
 • In general, when you wish to do an action you may either (1) narrate it in dnd character, and i will ask you for a check or (2) note as a dragon character or ooc that you would like to attempt something or make a check. I do not recommend you assume success.
 • Some portions of the game will be considered in combat and therefore be turn based. This will mean I will address in character actions in a set order. Out of character discussion is welcome out of order.
 • Large portions of the game will be done out of combat and therefore not be turn based. This means the game will progress as people post.
 • Some parts of the game may happen to only one character at a time and will be privately messaged. I ask that you do not share these experiences with others unless your characters actually interact in game. This reduces the temptation to metagame ^-^
Additionally, here are my expectations for gameplay. If I see the need to add more or alter the wording, I will inform the players via ping. If necessary I may quote from here; this is not meant to be condescending, but to aid understanding and show that it was in the rules.

I recommend standard with the help tips turned on if you are new. If you really aren't too worried about customizing your class features, then you can do a quick build!

Ensure all the switches are toggled to match these and the drop downs have the correct option chosen.

It is entirely a matter of personal preference whether modifiers are top or bottom!

Once you pick race and class, please select standard array for your stats from the drop down menu. If you feel strongly about a different stat method, talk to me and I'll probably allow it. The array is very good for beginners and to ensure the character has a balanced set of stats. Rolling comes with risks, point buy can be confusing unless u know what you're doing.

Once you get to equipment, there are a few things to note:
Ignore the attuned items.
Use equipment for your starting equipment, not gold. If you strongly prefer to use gold, talk to me.
Do not add any extra inventory items without talking to me first. There are no limits set in that selector, and your starting gear should have all you need.

Once you are done character creation, ensure you go to your equipment and check off/equip your weapons and armour!

He is the smoothest talker of Dullahana's children, but he has gets very shy in front of a camera unlike Bonefire. He's very excited to play a Nonbinary Fae Paladin, and be graceful and fly around with great strength and beauty. https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/BruneorBrehamias/characters/49092571 Cedar (They/Them), Fae Paladin Cedar came from the Seelie Court, one of the many noble children who lived there. Their deity is Queen Titana, Queen of the Seelie Court. They worked hard to protect the Court and all their patrons kingdom. They grew up very privileged, tutors, gold, and amazing food and a room in the moving palace. They wish to do good and spread good, but also expects the best from people and is incredibly blunt. They learned the rules of the fae court, which do not hold up in other areas. They are very careful of deals, iron, and would never give away their name. They did give away their first set of pronouns in exchange for ones that fit them better. They also traded some features in order to create a confusing gender expression. While beautiful and clearly royal, not clearly a prince or princess. They are also incredibly skilled at Dragonchess! (Still working on the art, I want to color it later, They have teal hair and eyes (matching Cassio), white wings, and a black and gold outfit. They have a scar on their left eye, as well as snake pupils. @silencedrose as Jemisha (Jem or Misha) playing Akta the Teifling Rogue She rarely uses her full name. She’s a reserved dragon, and has been for a while. She’s lost most of her siblings to war, which left a dent in her self-esteem, but still confident in front of the camera. Very excited to play her Tiefling Rogue. https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/auryxii/characters/49132896 Akta, Tiefling Rogue Akta came from a family of Tieflings. However, her family was mostly composed of thieves and crime lords, part of the minority in a human city. She learned to fight at a young age, and most of what she knows was gained from experience or was knowledge passed down by others. A Chaotic Neutral. Akta has long, obsidian black hair like Misha’s scales and ashen skin, along with green eyes with no discernible pupil. She has a pair of antelope horns on her head, and a tail similar to those of a snake. She wears a cloak and a few other items, disguising armor underneath. @katdragon as Old Wolf of the Moon playing Arro the Aarakocra Bard https://ddb.ac/characters/49130479/hA7NE7 Arro is a Aarakocra (and unofficially half tiefling) bard Arro has a cousin named Ki that he grew up with. Arro is also aro and ace. You can find his backstory in his character sheet. I might mention Ki but I doubt he'll make an appearance. @goldenwolfmidna as Sellan playing Madonna the kenku Ranger Sellan... despite being one of the strongest and most physically competent dragons in the clan, is an absolute nerd. They're tiny and are likely to get quite snippy, but 100% lean into the RPing aspect of D&D. "Hello. Name is Madonna. I am Ranger, and kenku. My stack of paper with words is here." Madonna is a relatively average kenku. He stands at about 4'5", and he has dark feathers, much like any kenku. These shimmer iridescently in the light, and Madonna's eyes are a dark emerald color. He's often seen covered in a dark green, mottled cloak, covering leather armor underneath. It's clearly seen its fair share of conflicts, and the armor is covered in scratches and is pretty obviously secondhand armor. The bow and swords that Madonna carry are in very good shape. The kenku clearly takes a lot of care of them, and a quiver of arrows is slung across his back, the arrows in top shape for combat. If you want to know of his past... ask him. We don't share secrets unprompted here. Just know he speaks a little odd because kenku "i don't get my own words" thing @moonwillow as Mammoth playing Solis Xeernath the Tritor Sorcerer Character sheet @scales25 as Polar playing Nephrus (Neph) the tiefling ranger A shy dragon who was kicked out of the icewarden’s domain because he didn’t want to be a warden. He’s very different from the standards of his kind, loving comfort and comforting others, and unwilling to join one of the orders. He has deep empathy for those who are imprisoned and never wants to see any hurt. He was basically exiled and carries the burden of his family’s disappointment with him every day. https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Scales25/characters/49257783 Unlike most tieflings, Neph is blue and icy cold to the touch, an oddity among oddities. He has a long tail, long pointed ears, and horns that curve upwards with little forks. His hair is a darker blue and is very messy and unkempt. He has poor communication skills and tends to stammer, he also has a hard time trusting others. I'm in the process of drawing him. His leather armor seems to have been modified, adding fur in certain parts. I doesn't serve any purpose, other than to be decorative. The daggers appear worn but are still in good condition. His bow is newer, although you can see it as been used frequently. He dislikes to talk about his past and hardly brings it up, usually being vague if he does. If you ask all you'll know is that he's a traveling hunter ho doesn't appear to have a home and that he was born in a village in the mountains. - Shivers, twitches, and jerks in an unnatural manner involuntary, he can't stop it even if he tried - His breathe fogs in all temperatures apart from when it's cold. - Any sudden, out of place noise will scare him, his reactions vary - He dislikes giving handshakes and high fives because of how cold he is and worries that it will make others uncomfortable - He won't let anyone get truly close to him because of what happened in his past - He likes fire, it makes him feel warm even if he isn't @cassierose as Irelia playing Tametar the half-orc fighter It's in her bio, it might get updated (Also, technically she's a hatchling, but lorewise she's a full grown adult) He used to be an army scout, but has since retired and became an adventurer Sheet @lemonjuiice as Callista playing Denae https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2446150 Denae is a bounty hunter morally inclined on teaching the worst of criminals a lesson. Money is a good side addition to it, but really, he just enjoys the spontaneous nature of the job and the mission it accomplishes along the way. While Denae's bardic side doesn't come out often in his work, he can be found in local taverns in his off time getting a small amount of coin for his performances: ranging from anything musically or even story-oriented. His bounty hunts can make for great tales as he's traveled places far and wide while tracking down the delinquent. By word of a past partner in work, Tametar, the satyr has decided to pack bags and head off for the dungeon. Though, his real reasoning is something left to be discovered. Art is in the works! For now, this description will suffice: Denae is a male standing at about 6"1 with a fit build. He sports soft copper blonde hair, a face dappled in freckles from his work in the beaten sun long ago, horns akin to a ram, and blue-green eyes. His outfit is made of flowing teal and burnt orange cloth, adorned only by a speckling of copper jewelry-- most notably of which is a nose ring. Attached to Denae's tail, most oddly, is a lantern. 68006177_350.png
He is very stylish and talented at archery. He is the smoothest talker of Dullahana's children, but he has gets very shy in front of a camera unlike Bonefire. He's very excited to play a Nonbinary Fae Paladin, and be graceful and fly around with great strength and beauty.

Cedar (They/Them), Fae Paladin
Cedar came from the Seelie Court, one of the many noble children who lived there.

@silencedrose as Jemisha (Jem or Misha) playing Akta the Teifling Rogue
53697781_350.png
She rarely uses her full name. She’s a reserved dragon, and has been for a while. She’s lost most of her siblings to war, which left a dent in her self-esteem, but still confident in front of the camera. Very excited to play her Tiefling Rogue.

https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/auryxii/characters/49132896
Akta, Tiefling Rogue
Akta came from a family of Tieflings.

@katdragon as Old Wolf of the Moon playing Arro the Aarakocra Bard
35971483_350.png
https://ddb.ac/characters/49130479/hA7NE7
Arro is a Aarakocra (and unofficially half tiefling) bard
Arro has a cousin named Ki that he grew up with. Arro is also aro and ace. You can find his backstory in his character sheet. I might mention Ki but I doubt he'll make an appearance.

@goldenwolfmidna as Sellan playing Madonna the kenku Ranger
61764755_350.png
Sellan... despite being one of the strongest and most physically competent dragons in the clan, is an absolute nerd. They're tiny and are likely to get quite snippy, but 100% lean into the RPing aspect of D&D.

"Hello. Name is Madonna. I am Ranger, and kenku. My stack of paper with words is here."
Madonna is a relatively average kenku.

Just know he speaks a little odd because kenku "i don't get my own words" thing

@moonwillow as Mammoth playing Solis Xeernath the Tritor Sorcerer

Character sheet

@scales25 as Polar playing Nephrus (Neph) the tiefling ranger
67065768_350.png
A shy dragon who was kicked out of the icewarden’s domain because he didn’t want to be a warden. He’s very different from the standards of his kind, loving comfort and comforting others, and unwilling to join one of the orders. He has deep empathy for those who are imprisoned and never wants to see any hurt. He was basically exiled and carries the burden of his family’s disappointment with him every day.

https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Scales25/characters/49257783
Unlike most tieflings, Neph is blue and icy cold to the touch, an oddity among oddities.

- Shivers, twitches, and jerks in an unnatural manner involuntary, he can't stop it even if he tried
- His breathe fogs in all temperatures apart from when it's cold.
- Any sudden, out of place noise will scare him, his reactions vary
- He dislikes giving handshakes and high fives because of how cold he is and worries that it will make others uncomfortable
- He won't let anyone get truly close to him because of what happened in his past
- He likes fire, it makes him feel warm even if he isn't

@cassierose as Irelia playing Tametar the half-orc fighter
scry?sdid=1538369&skin=0&apparel=23125,23127,24052,3698,4318,23126,23128&xt=dressing.png
It's in her bio, it might get updated (Also, technically she's a hatchling, but lorewise she's a full grown adult)
He used to be an army scout, but has since retired and became an adventurer
Sheet

@lemonjuiice as Callista playing Denae
67678815_350.pnghttps://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2446150
Denae is a bounty hunter morally inclined on teaching the worst of criminals a lesson.

I'm hoping to get about 10 players

Can I post here? Can we talk now? Or should I not post and should I delete this?

So the main thing here is that us humans are playing as dragons who are also basically sitting around a table with dice. I got that. (I love that mental image) So this means there’s more than one layer to our role play, that makes this exciting!

I’ve got a DND character 5e that I was going to use for another campaign but it was supposed to start with session zero back in January ....

I’m being honest here, I’ve truthfully never done DND before. I’m learning all that I can about it, like the terminology and what the heck 5e meant- (5th edition, as it says up there) I’ve been attempting to jump into a twitch stream of a session but it’s always in the middle of one and it’s hard to follow along since I have no idea what happened.

im not really experienced with dnd but i think ill be alright if we do the more complex stuff, i mean i have an aarakocra/teifling character i wanna play (although i might not do the teifling half if needed but i think itd be neet)

the whole dragon text/dnd character text difference seems a bit confusing, i think just having normal text for dragons and italicized or bolded or whatever text for dnd characters is enough
and of course having occ comments in parentheses or brackets but thats a given i think, most (if not all) of us have experience with fr roleplay so i think that part will be fine

Okay! This seems really cool. I don’t have much experience with DND, but I think I’ll be alright. i watch JoCat and i think i can figure this out

The actions and narrations thing...I’m fine with that. To be honest, anything goes! I’m really excited, hope this goes well (and doesn’t die somehow) :D
