He wanted treasure, but fighting always was something that came easy to the Gaoler. Of course, if he did get into a scuffle, Geldryn managed to take care of it with only a little bit of trouble. He was quite focused on finding anything good before he went back to his lair. When he did move out to the open, though, something moving in the corner of his vision immediately made the dragon look over with a low snarl. Yet, seeing as how it wasn't another dragon, or even a skeletal beast, Geldryn let his guard down somewhat. It was just a small faun. It couldn't do much to him at all, yet... "Who are you?" He asked with a low rumble, staring down at the small thing. (are you subbed btw? just in case you'd want me to tag you!!)

(I'm subbed! Not to worry! Thanks for joining! :D)

_______With a flinch, Cobalt retreated further into her painting, even though she knew it was futile. The hulking dragon had already seen her move within her portrait, and it was too late. She clung to the wild shrub doused in moonlight.

_______Was the dragon... speaking to her? How unusual. She could understand him.

_______Her curiosity compelled her to approach. After all, she couldn't know for sure if the dragon could harm her from outside the magic canvas. Slowly, the faun emerged, placing a hand upon the inner side of the picture frame. Once she slipped her tiny instrument into its holster, the other hand came to rest on the invisible wall between them. She could never see it, but it was rough and papery, and no matter how hard she'd tried, she had never been able to escape. Bloody curse. Perhaps this was the chance she'd been waiting for? A chance to break it?

_______"Hello?" she uttered, testing the barrier. And yet, just as it always was, Cobalt's own sound was trapped within her artwork despite being able to hear the outside world quite well. After one last firm press on the invisible inner wall of her hexed canvas, Cobalt let her hand fall dejectedly. All she could do is watch the giant dragon's response, and speculate what he might do.

A deep, rumbling sound could be heard in the distance ere long. It was rhythmic, a split second between each thump, a slow trot, one coming from something quite large.

Nearly three times the size of the Gaoler, and several times the size of the faun, the silhouette of a dragon-like figure could be discerned if they squinted. It was knocking things over left and right, having no care or concern for it's surroundings. Creatures that inhabited these ruins were promptly crushed under it's paws, hardly having time to cry out to it's kin. Shackles clanged on it's sides, and rough, tattered cloth from covering it's hide flew lightly in the wind. In it's wake, the ruins around it were crumbled even more, having made a great mess of the place.

Finally, a sheen of red could be seen from the wings as they were stretched. A ridgeback, male from the looks of it's long, spear like snout. Hopefully, this one would be careful enough not to stomp on who was in front of it.

_______Silently, the faun shrieked. If the Gaoler was terrifying, this Ridgeback was the reaper. Even if she could not be attacked through the face of her canvas (as she hoped), surely a simple misstep from the gargantuan drake could knock her from the wall upon which she hung. Then, it would be simply at chance's discretion whether her painting would be trampled underfoot.

_______Cobalt's fear of being squashed wasn't exactly unfounded. It happened to many of her kind who weren't stuck in her magical predicament, and what's more, she could already hear the picture frame clacking against the ruin wall with each step. The blue-horned beastfolk stumbled back. Despite her instinct to run for cover rising in her heart once more, she knew at this moment it would be futile. Instead, she simply stood in the foreground, watching the Gaoler to see how he'd react.

It was a little strange viewing a living painting, yet it wasn't exactly unexpected either. He's seen possessed weapons and other various objects that would scream supernatural, yet he didn't seem all that bothered by it. Seeing how the faun was speaking, get no noise was coming from the frame, the Gaoler squinted. He wasn't too good with magic.

Though, it would be a nice thing to take back home...

The low rumble of something made the Gaoler lift his head, ears slightly perking up in alert as he looked around. Almost as soon as the strange silhouette appeared, every hair on his body stood on end, making Geldryn look a little bigger than he did before. He didn't exactly enjoy coming across something so much larger than him, the dragon lowering his head as a short growl escaped past his fangs.

If he had to fight, so be it, but he would rather defend himself against a larger threat than to make the first move.

As the Ridgeback neared the scene, his careless stomps made the ground rumble, his head held high without so much as a glance at what was happening below. The growling from the Gaoler finally caught his attention however, his blood red eyes finally peering down below. He simply snorted, saying not a word as his leg slammed into the wall that held the painting in which the faun was trapped in, knocking it down onto the ground.

As his tail swished about, one swing was going straight for the Gaoler's face, threatening to deliver a hard, albeit accidental, slap.

_______Cobalt's eyes widened. She saw the Ridgeback's leg swing in her direction, and her instinct to brace for the fall took over. She dove for the nearest slab of sandstone jutting from the moonlit grasses and latched on, but instead of feeling her world in freefall or a shift in gravity, she simply felt aggressively dizzy. The massive window from her side of the frame to the outside world spun rapidly in the moments before landing, so all she could do was shield her eyes.

_______The painting landed on its face, throwing the window into pitch, but also shunting several small bits of rubble from the ruins' floor into her frame. Though in reality the chunks were individually no larger than a coin, when they landed in Cobalt's soft grass, they retained their size in contrast to the canvas and were now no smaller than her fist. 'Maddening,' she thought to herself, 'the wonders won't cease, even as I'm about to be crushed. Possibly.'

_______Cobalt approached the invisible wall of her painterly prison, now displaying an excellent view of the floor. Try as she might to pound her fists upon it, it made no noise, so she resigned herself to sitting at the edge in wait. The only action left to take was hope she wouldn't be smashed, or if she was, then hope it would free her - a possibility she found rather unlikely.
